The Long Retreat in the Culture War

The Long Retreat in the Culture War

The Republican rout in the Battle of Indianapolis provides us with a snapshot of the correlation of forces in the culture wars.

Faced with a corporate-secularist firestorm, Gov. Mike Pence said Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act would not protect Christian bakers or florists who refuse their services to same-sex weddings. And the white flag went up again.

Politics follows culture. And the cultural revolution of the ’60s is triumphant. Traditional Christianity, driven out of schools and the public square, is being whipped back into the churches and told to stay there.

America has gone over to the revolution.

Looking back, the sweep of the capitulation becomes stark.

First came the plea of atheists not to have their children forced to participate in prayers at school. Fair enough. Americans do not believe in compelling people to do as they disbelieve.

Then followed the demand that no child be exposed to prayers or religious books, including the Bible, nor have any day or week set aside as a holiday if connected to Christianity.

Out went Christmas and Easter. In came winter break and spring break. Coaches of high school teams were ordered to dispense with prayers before games. The coaches complied.

No matter what the majority wanted, the minority prevailed, thanks to a Supreme Court whose dictates were never challenged by democratically elected presidents or Congresses, nor ever defied by a Christian majority.

In the sexual revolution there came first the plea that abortion in extreme cases be decriminalized, then legalized, then subsidized, then declared a right. From crime to constitutional right in two decades!

Under Obamacare, Christian businesses must dispense abortion-inducing morning-after pills to employees.

On gay rights, first came the demand that a bar in Greenwich Village patronized by homosexuals be left alone by the cops.

Next came the demand that homosexuality be decriminalized and then that this, too, be declared a constitutional right. And so it went.

Soon, same-sex marriages will likely be declared a right hidden in the Constitution and entitled to all the privileges and benefits accorded traditional marriages. Next, those who refuse to provide services to same-sex weddings will become the criminals.

Thus does biblical truth become bigotry in Obama’s America.

And the process has been steadily proceeding for generations.

First comes a call for tolerance for those who believe and behave differently. Then comes a plea for acceptance.

Next comes a demand for codifying in law a right to engage in actions formerly regarded as debased or criminal. Finally comes a demand to punish any and all who persist in their public conduct or their private business in defying the new moral order.

And so it goes with revolutions. On the assumption of power, revolutionaries become more intolerant than those they dispossessed.

The French Revolution was many times more terrible than the Bourbon monarchy. The Russian Revolution made the Romanovs look benign. Fidel Castro’s criminality exceeded anything dreamt of by Fulgencio Batista.

Looking back, one appreciates why we hear so often, “This isn’t the country I grew up in.” For it isn’t.

But how did this moral-cultural revolution succeed so easily?

How was it that the Greatest Generation that won World War II let itself be intimidated by and dictated to by nine old men with lifetime tenure who had been elected by no one?

How did this happen in a republic where minority rights exist but the majority rules? Why did Middle America meekly comply and not resist?

By the mid-’50s and early ’60s, black folks were engaged in civil disobedience, refusing to move to the back of the bus, sitting at segregated lunch counters, getting clubbed by cops, and marching for equal access to schools, hotels, motels and voting booths.

And across the South there was resistance to the civil rights revolution: Southern manifestos, governors standing in schoolhouse doors, federal marshals and federal troops called out.

Whatever side of the civil rights revolution one was on, folks on both sides fought for what they believed in.

Amazing. The old segregationists who, morally speaking, held a pair of deuces resisted. But a Christian majority that had the Faith that created Western civilization behind it rolled over and played dead.

Christians watched paralyzed as their country was taken from them.

What explains the rout in Indianapolis? The GOP simply cannot stand up to media denunciations as intolerant bigots, especially if the corporations upon which they depend threaten economic reprisals.

With the Democratic Party irretrievably lost, and the Republican Party moving to neutrality in the culture wars, traditionalists should probably take comfort in the counsel, “Put not your trust in princes.”

When that father and daughter at Memories Pizza in Walkerton, Ind., said their religious beliefs forbade them from catering a same-sex wedding, they were subjected to a hailstorm of hate, but were also showered with $840,000 from folks who admired their moral courage.

Religious folks who do not believe in collaborating with what they think is wrong should go forth and do likewise.

Courage as well as cowardice is contagious.

Sensetti–Flash I belive there’s periods of history that were much more violent and Godless than today.

nope …wrong again. the 20th century was the dawning of the age of state sanctioned genocide before committed on a gargantuan scale never before witnessed in all the annuals of human history.

At one time there were peaceful areas here on earth where a man and his family might be able to weather periods of regional war totally unscathed , but thanks to modern technology, there is no longer any where left to hunker down and ride out the global shitstorm the demons in congress are currently ginning up.
We’re all targets of opportunity now.

With all the money printing (how much do they need to buy the world?) the question becomes not philosophical but one of meaning – and meaning is a religious question: For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?

The most foolish assclowns admit that there might be a god but he must be one they can bear, certainly not the unpalatable god of the bible. Ye comfortable philosophers, who taught ye to flee God’s coming anger?

For a free society to work there must be a moral code that’s is agreeable. Thomas Jefferson did say “We hold these truths to be self evident”. So in the declaration there was, at least amongst the signers, a foundation, a starting point. The signers believed in “the laws of Nature & Natures God”. Laws are not material things in themselves, laws may explain material things but the laws themselves are outside of nature. These laws are always true. Man in his ignorance and arrogance tries to twist and bend the laws of Nature & Natures God.
One such law is that there is no procreation outside of a man and a woman coming together. For some reason this is how we were created. We can argue all day long about two men loving each other or two women. There are several men in my life that I love, yet somehow I have refrained from having sex with them. The laws of Nature & Natures God tell us that homosexuality is a perversion of creations intent.
The laws of Nature & Natures God also tell us that ALL men are created equal an endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, That’s where LLPOH comes in. That equality is LLPOH. That’s it and it is all you are entitled to. You are not entitled to a job, to $1 of my money, to confiscate food from my barn or force me by laws that go against nature & Natures God to accept by force your life-style.
This is no different then Jim Crow laws. Do you see the hypocrisy? Jim Crow laws were against the Laws of Nature & Natures God. Men were not free to pursue LLPOH. Both white & black. A free man is free to do business as he likes. Discriminate as he likes, not discriminate as he likes. A free society with free & open trade will allow all to obey their conscience and conduct their lives as they see fit.
These laws of Nature & Natures God are outside of us. They are not made up in your mind. God is outside of us. He is the creator of these laws and there are consequences to breaking these laws.
I say these laws are outside of us, because they are. God, if he exists, and He does, exists outside of space and time. It would be impossible for God to be confined by space and time because He created space and time. Yet each one of us understands the basic laws: Murder, thievery, lying.
Yet we find a hypocrite inside of each one of us. We all have shortcomings and blind spots. So does that mean I cannot judge/pass judgement…. ” cast the first stone” as soooo many like to say. Absolutely not, if what I do or another does goes against the basic laws of nature or God judgement is already passed and there may be hell to pay in this life. Nature itself tells us that Murder is wrong. I will pass judgement. Nature itself tells us that homosexuality is wrong. I will pass judgment. I may decide to murder that gay man and I then in turn deserve the judgement of God and man.

bb, i have no power to punch your ticket , so I’ll defer you to the words of one who does.

The Sermon on the Mount

5 Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him.
The Beatitudes

2 And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons[a] of God.

10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Salt and Light

13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.

14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that[b] they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Christ Came to Fulfill the Law

17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. 19 Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Anger

21 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ 22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother[c] will be liable to judgment; whoever insults[d] his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell[e] of fire. 23 So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. 25 Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison. 26 Truly, I say to you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny.[f]
Lust

27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.
Divorce

31 “It was also said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’ 32 But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
Oaths

33 “Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.’ 34 But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, 35 or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36 And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. 37 Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.[g]
Retaliation

38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39 But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic,[h] let him have your cloak as well. 41 And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. 42 Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.
Love Your Enemies

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet only your brothers,[i] what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Giving to the Needy

6 “Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.

2 “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
The Lord’s Prayer

5 “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

7 “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 9 Pray then like this:

“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.[j]
10 Your kingdom come,
your will be done,[k]
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread,[l]
12 and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.[m]

14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Fasting

16 “And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 17 But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18 that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
Lay Up Treasures in Heaven

19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust[n] destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, 23 but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

24 “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.[o]
Do Not Be Anxious

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?[p] 28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Judging Others

7 “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.

6 “Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you.
Ask, and It Will Be Given

7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
The Golden Rule

12 “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

13 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy[q] that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
A Tree and Its Fruit

15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. 18 A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.
I Never Knew You

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
Build Your House on the Rock

24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
The Authority of Jesus

28 And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, 29 for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.

truism..

“Christians should not be outraged when they are attacked, or when there is no sympathy for our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world. We were told this would happen. We were warned that this would be the case. And we were told that if the world did not hate us, we were doing something wrong. So, when Christianity is attacked, when our faith is belittled, when our Lord and Savior is ridiculed, and when our God is blasphemed, don’t be angry. Smile, because the very foundations of your faith are being confirmed right before your eyes.

The Almighty is perfectly capable of defending Himself. He doesn’t need us to defend Him. We need Him to defend us.”

And yes Billy, I know, only the sword of the Mighty State can control us mere mortals. I’ll agree to disagree. – TE

Don’t mistake my knowing where our system of law came from or observing the earliest roots of civilization – or even observing that without our system that was originally based on English Common Law, the US (arguably the greatest Republic in the history of the world) would not exist – as an endorsement of our current state.

In point of fact, I am very much a staunch advocate of states rights and individual rights, as well as a weak, even feeble, central government. An anti-federalist.

I’m just also smart enough to know that unless we have a moral, ethical, homogenous society, anarcho-libertarianism is impossible.

That type of society would be completely capable of self-policing and there would be no need for the iron hand of a dictator, tyrant or even several hundred mini tyrants acting in unison…

And if it is impossible because our society is amoral, unethical and a polyglot gloopy mess of multiculti suicidalism, then the only thing that can hold it together is more and ever greater force.

Being aware of these things and stating them is not advocating for same. It is merely observing reality.

Here is my take. I don’t give a flying fuck about the dream world of cultural wars. Abortion? Case closed via Roe vs. Wade. Until the Supreme Court says otherwise. Gay marriage? Who gives a shit? The courts will ultimately decide. Out of your hands. And so on. Why waste your breath, your time, and your energy? This is exactly what the progressives want. Don’t play their game.

Here’s my fix to our society’s ailments, our culture. Personal responsibility. Laws/rules which affirm same. Motto: “We can help you so far, the rest is up to you.” Workman’s Comp? Your claims stop at (pick a week). No more help. We’ve done all we can. Good luck and God speed.

Admin’s dad and my dad had NONE of this. Take the progressive plan for societal control and dial it backwards, It all amounts to personal responsibility. Figure out a way to take care of yourself and your family. Plan for it. If you don’t, tough shit. And get rid of every, single solitary government program that runs counter to the philosophy of personal responsibility.

Respectfully, it is actually impossible for you to be any more wrong. You’ve pegged the meter.

In point of fact, the Articles of Confederation were tossed because the Federalists realized the central government was largely ineffective and that any one state or Commonwealth was every bit the equal of the Federal Government. Which is why there was such a war between the federalists and anti-federalists. They won. We didn’t. And our current Constitution is a result of that struggle.

Then a passel of us decided to leave the Union – as is completely legal and right going by the writings of the Framers, the Declaration of Independence and the spirit of the law. Mr. Lincoln decided to hang on to a small place called Fort Sumpter. This fort was part of South Carolina and the Federals did not leave when they seceded. In fact, they reinforced the fort. This is the equivalent of you buying a house and having the previous owners not leave, but inviting all their friends over with guns to keep you out and shoot at you if you come near your own home.

The resulting hostilities and Endgame of what was in effect the Second American Revolution ended when Federal power reigned supreme, with the Federal government claiming a monopoly on state sanctioned violence and making us all tax slaves, unable to leave.

In the 30’s, power was again massively centralized by the Federals with the rise of the Progressives and Woodrow Wilson’s Golden Boy, FDR. Up until the last couple occupants of the White House, he was the closest thing to a tyrant we have had (at least as bad, if not worse, than Mr. Lincoln), and legislation passed during his multiple tenures – save the IRS and the Fed – laid the foundation for our current trouble.

Fast forward to the last few occupants, with the passage of the unPATRIOT Act, NDAA, etc, have finalized the process towards turnkey tyranny and the ultimate centralization of power – that of a Tyrant.

The Oligarchy has only truly come into power since the Warren Court (with respect to the Supremes) and the moneymen, banksters, Wall Streeters, and lobbyists since the Fed was left off the chain and free to print up and divert as much fiat cash as they could conjure… and will only be in power so long as there is no one declared Tyrant. Once the occupant of the White House suspends the Constitution and seizes complete control, all those Oligarchs will have varying degrees of influence, but their power will be diminished…

So, it’s not a feeble, weak central government that has enabled the rise of the Oligarchs….

“Tell me.What is the Gospel of Christ. Explain it to me.” ——- bb to TE

TE — I hope you don’t take the bait. You’d just be pissing up a rope. Recall the verse — “Do not cast your pearls before swine.”. Your wisdom would be the pearl … bb is the swine. So, don’t do it.

But if you want to organize a posse to hang bb from a tree …. count me in. (Bring enough rope for that jackass BW.)

Nice. My “personal responsibility” comment above has already gotten 3 thumbs-down.

I think I’m dealing with a bunch of maroons. WTF is your solution, dimwits? You fucksticks come on this site to complain. Ya-da-ya-da-yaddah. That’s all you do. No solutions, just bellyaching.

Damn, that gets old. And start thinking outside the box. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS CULTURAL WARS. IT’S A FUCKING LEFT-WING MYTH AND TRAP.

Ignore it and move on to more relevant issues. Jobs? The economy? Trade? Defense spending? Foreign policy? Taxes? You know. The shit that actually affects you and your pocketbook. Or can’t your pea-brains fathom that?

Good history lesson, thanks. Now as I understand, Texas cannot secede except if some portion of it separated from the main, then that part could declare its own sovereignty and independence.

No worries SSS. It’s just the fuckstick assclowns bb, El Assclown and BW. It’s a badge of fucking honor when they vote you down. It’s the highest functioning activity that 3.5 billion years of evolution and intensive inbreeding by their ancestors could produce.

Culture wars? Who is Pat Buchanan to decide what culture is right and what culture in wrong. Culture is what it is and guess what..it changes over time. Why?? Because things like attitudes and Demographics change. The old white, uptight, bible thumping conservative majority..soon to be minority can’ stand it so they bitch and whine about “culture wars.” I’m sure the neanderthals whined and bitched when homo Erectus started using all those fancy flint spears too. I’m sure white plantation owner bitched and whined when slavery was abolished and they couldn’t enjoy all that free labor. Get over your selves morons. For better or for worse…time marches on….and the next generation….and the next generation and the next generation are the deciders of whatever “culture” is going to the “the culture” whether you and your “church group” like it or not. Here’s an idea…quit worrying about what everyone else is doing and live your own god damn (yea i said it) life cause you oly have about 80 years on this planet if you are lucky and the next generation isn’t going to give a rats ass what you thought about their new fangled “culture”.

Your nothing but a fucking troll masquerading as a Big Dog. The fact that you went tattle-tailing to a real big dog reveals your true nature, you fucking Chihuahua. @ HHH, who said, “The old white, uptight, bible thumping conservative majority, soon to be minority can’t stand it so they bitch and whine about culture wars.”

You are the pluperfect example of what I said above, which in essence was …. “I don’t give a flying fuck about the dream world of cultural wars. Abortion? Case closed. Gay marriage? Who gives a shit? This is exactly what the progressives want. Don’t play their game.”

YOU are playing the “cultural wars” card. I’m not biting.

I’ll even dumb it down for you morons. Do you think anyone TODAY gives a shit that millions of people from the Victorian Era from 1837-1901 ( a period characterized as a culture with a focus on the highly moralistic, straitlaced language and behaviour of Victorian morality) would look DOWN on our culture today. Do you care that they would look at our movies, books, drinking, dress, language etc and regard it with absolute digust and distain? Do you toss and turn at night worrying what people from that time period would think of your behavior today? Hell no you don’t. The bottom line: Culture changes. You are wasting your breath bitching about it. Live YOUR life, raise YOUR family and quit trying to CONTROL everyone else based on your narrow-minded, short -sighted world view.

Triple H you dumbass as motherfucker, you obviously don’t live in the south and have no idea about our culture. Arkansas just turned blood red for the first time in its history. We elected Tom Cotton Senator with an overwhelming majority. If you wanna know what this State thinks you keep an eye on that boy. Minority? SSS…personal responsibility? Thats your big solution? Look around… open your eyes…very few people in this country have an ounce of personal responsibility. Just look at Americans…the fattest people on earth gorging themselves into diabetes and an early grave. Why do we have seat belt laws? No smoking sections? Recalls on dangerous products? Hell why have laws at all? In your world you would have mobs of children running around begging me for the fries in-between my car seat and the console cause mommy and daddy ran out of benefits for a lack of responsibility. Reality: Some people are just plain irresponsible. And as a “God-fearing” nation…shouldn’t it be our responsibility to give those people a leg up sometimes? Now…I’m all for eliminating waste and abuse in the system but relying on people’s “personal responsibility” to magically kick in and fix everything…is a pipe dream. And don’t be thinking it’s all the poor people either. Where was the personal responsibility on Wall Street when they almost crashed the entire world’s economy in the name of greed? No I think the answer lies somewhere in the middle…with a good healthy mix of laws, regulations and social programs designed to help in times of need while encouraging personal responsibility through education and economic opportunity.

Sensetti – First of all..I count two since who the hell is going to beat Hillary? And second….it really doesn’t matter. All the filibustering the Republicans did while Democrats had the Senate…nothing got done. Now that Republicans control both the senate and the house they haven’t done a damn thing. Not a damn thing. The government is controlled by the banks and wall street and politicians have no incentive to do anything but hold onto their jobs. Soon as they turned big business into people and removed restrictions on campaign contributions…democracy was over and done with. Nothing will ever get solved.

Triple H you are correct we are a backwater State and we like it that way. The only thing more plentiful than Bibles are Guns. But I’m a bit confused regarding your opinion on our new Freshman Senator. Dont Republicans control both houses of Congress? And did Mr Cotton not line up about 50 Senior Senators and get them to follow his lead? As a freshman Senator from a backwater State I’d have to say he’s out front leading a party soon to control all three branches of Government, that makes him a major player anyway you want to turn the table. NO?

Greetings,

I’m coming into this fray a bit late in the game but I wanted to state that I disagree with Pat on this one. I’m rather furious at the USSA these days but I see acceptance of homosexuality as one of the few bright spots. Allowing a business that sits on a publicly maintained street next to the public sidewalk to refuse to serve someone just because they are gay or black or of a religion that they do not believe in is wrong. What they do in their private lives is their own business but I’m of the opinion that we all need to try to get along in the public square. Can that be a challenge? Yes, but we should strive to be better and work towards that perfect union.

Where I live, a fair number of people believe that Dolphins are intergalactic beings sent here to teach us to vibrate at a higher frequency and become light and, thus, ascend into some higher plane. This belief is so prevalent that my neighbor Cheryl (she owns several large sightseeing boats) has automated announcements warning of the dangers of jumping into the ocean. They had to add this public service announcement because so many people were jumping into the ocean so the dolphins could practice their healing arts.

As silly as this sounds, this belief has every chance of becoming the dominant religion – who is to say? What then? What if the vibrating dolphin people refuse services to the cannibal christ believers? After all, these people wear horrific emblems of a tortured man nailed to a tree and, if that were not enough, ritualistically eat his flesh and drink his blood in a disgusting weekly ritual.

See where I’m going with this?

Pat is just wrong.

Sensetti…the blind leading the blind. Tying to undermine the Iranian Nuclear Program deal to score political points was probably the most unprofessional, under-handed and frankly dangerous proposition ever put forth by a congressman. Look we have been trying to get Iran to come to some sort of agreement on nuclear weapons for 15 years. This is a regime run by religious zealots who want to wipe America and Israel off the map. They were 2 months away from having the bomb. 2 Months! Once they have the bomb…guess what…they will give it to terrorists…they will give it to Al Quida and ISIS and before you know it we have a nuclear bomb exploding in New York City . Not to mention that every other country in the middle east would also develop a nuclear weapon as a deterrent. These are countries with deeply seeded ethnic and religious differences that go back hundreds of years. The ENTIRE reason we have a separation of church and state is because of situations that are happening right now in the middle east. But anyway back to Tom Cotton. As negotiations on reigning in Iran’s nuclear program are in the final negotiations this Ass Clown Tom Cotton and his 50 senators goes behind the Negotiating Team’s back and writes letter to the Iranians saying that whatever agreement is reached has to be approved by congress…almost throwing the whole deal and 15 years worth of work down the tubes. Not to mention that if there was any break down in this deal that the Iranians are like I said…2 months away from developing the bomb. This was stupid as hell not because it’s never been done and breaks all diplomatic protocols…but it was dangerous as hell since we are talking about a terrorist state with nuclear weapons. Tom Cotton? Not a fan.
