STOLEN HARMONICAS

Help out TBP member John Coster

Last week someone stole a bag of very good and hard to replace harmonicas out of my car while it was parked in Easthampton. Four Hohner XB40s and several tremolo harps, the kind I use to play Celtic tunes, jigs reels etc. Also a good Suzuki Chromatic and some lesser items. Even prescription eyeglasses! It was hot and I was tired. I may have left a window slightly open…I don’t know, but it’s a drag. Damn thing is: to a thief, they can’t be worth much, but it’s many hundreds of dollars to replace them. These are not your typical blues harps and most people wouldn’t have any idea what to do with them. Needless to say I’m bummed. I have some recording to do and prepping  for some high profile gigs. Insurance won’t cover it since there was no evidence of a break in or damage to my car. It’s not a good time for a financial hit like this. Ergo I’ve decided to have a “Don’t let the rotten bastards get you down/ NOT going out of business sale”

Now you can download any of the six albums available on Bandcamp  https://johncoster.bandcamp.com/  for whatever you want to pay beyond a dollar, which basically covers administration costs. If I can boost album sales that’ll help me replace what I’ve lost. As of today “Stories in the Dark”, my album from the 80s which was recently remastered is also available.

You can stream all of these albums three times to check them out. I hope you like them. Certainly, the musicians who made these recordings are among the finest any songwriter could hope to have worked with.

Please pass this along to anyone who might like this music. And don’t hesitate to pay a very small amount if that’s what works. Lots of people don’t buy music because they have too many other bills to pay.

If you have a later model vehicle with a electronic keyless entry system it can be easily hacked now with handheld portable electronic decoding device. If that’s the case your insurance may cover the loss.

That sucks John…

What sucks even more is that the fucking thieves at the “insurance company” won’t cover it because there’s no evidence of a break in… I mean, other than the stolen loot. Apparently, to those douche pickles, absence of evidence is evidence of absence…

Which is why you need to carry a chunk of broken spark plug. Seriously. The white porcelain bit. Those little bastards will go right through a car window like nobody’s business… so if you see someone use that to break a car window, make sure to tell them to find that little bit – they’re small and can go missing easily…

Ain’t saying do something… ain’t saying to not do something… just saying, is all… that spark plug chunks will bust out a car window in about 1/2 second…

Lesson to be learned ….. Don’t keep valuables in your vehicle. Meathead.

God, I love harmonicas and accordions.

Lawyers will get the insurance company to pay, some of them by ‘staging’ the scene. But I recommend folks do as you ask, buy the music you have offered, I will do this tonight if I can use a CC and not have to create a paypal account. Otherwise, can you give a mail address so I can send a paper check?

dilligaf, if it’s still happening cut-n-paste the text to your browser instead of clicking the link.

EC, I used a CC and didn’t have to create a paypal account.

M.I.A., he’s a musician. Unless he has a rich wife I’m pretty sure we’re not talking about a late model car that’s expensive enough to have a keypad.

John, keep an eye out at the local pawn shops – your stuff may show up there. Love your music, BTW 🙂

Wife’s brand new loaded Civic obviously robbed at night parked by front door and her .38 et all is gone but no evidence of forced entry. I just bought me a new Nissan without electric locks. Payback gonna be Hell some day.

I believe I got closest with Heart of Gold above, the only album available on CD (Lost Horizon) is great. Too bad I never clicked the link before, didn’t know what I’d been missing.

Evidently, the movie Lost Horizon was as popular in its time with GIs as Alice’s restaurant was with Viet Nam GIs. I loved the ending where Robert Conway is disappointed with his modern society and heads back to Shangri La.

That sucks man, everyone at some point or time has to gamble that their shit will be there when they get back. These fuckers know we have to gamble too, apparently. I’ll check it out later, your link I mean. Take care.

I enjoyed listening to Lost Horizons this evening. It reinforced once again that there are many, many talented artists out there I’ve never heard of. I think my father, (who sings Bob Dylan songs worse than Bob Dylan), will appreciate John Coster’s version of Pretty Boy Floyd. Thanks for passing this along.
