I’ve been working (on and off) for a little while now on an essay titled “It’s a Fake, Fake, Fake America”
So, I wanna get you fine commenters involved before I post it.
Soooo …… what do you see as “fake” in America?

FAKE – any claim that the US is a democracy in any real sense
FAKE – any claim that the US is still “The land of the free” or that this is a “free country”
FAKE – the idea of the fiatsco (a/k/a USD) as a stable reserve currency
Fake: the illusion of choice in politics.
War on poverty, drugs, and terrorism.
Justice for all.
Wall Street.
Fake: Prosperity
Fake freedoms
Fake happiness
Fractional Reserve Banking…
Happiness and patriotism.
We’re supposed to happy we are fat, happy we have health care, happy that government is there for the little guy “promising” to provide for all needs.
But we’re not happy because they have to tax us more to provide us more, but we are too fucking stupid to understand because maff be hard.
We’re supposed to be patriotic for the mothers, fathers, sons and daughters that will fight whatever war requires dying for to protect america’s interest and our way of life, so we can be happy.
But waving the flag and beating the drum is not so joyous anymore, seems like we’ve been at war for so very long we’ve forgotten what we are fighting for, just that we must fight.
Sometimes I really wonder what it’s all about. Also having a shitty day at work, probably because I’m so sick of all the fake bullshit.
Maybe I can kill a nice fat whitetail this weekend, and get drunk.

I think the biggest fakery of all has to be Education in America. That anyone can even pretend that a High School Diploma or College Degree has any value blows my mind. That someone can act as if a piece of paper from the University of Phoenix has value deserves an Academy Award.

My wife got her job based solely on her abilities outside of her degrees. Don’t get me wrong, the degrees were required, but the skills she uses at her job are completely separate from the degree.
I was giving her a tour of my lab yesterday, and she came to a piece of equipment I had taken apart to perform routine maintenance on.
She gestured to the mess of tubes, wires, reagents, and o-rings “I don’t remember doing this in college.”
I use my degrees, but the most important stuff, the stuff that sets me apart from previous hires is that I can do the stuff that comes with the job that no degree will teach you.
Experience > Education.
FAKE – knowing something because you “Googled it” versus having first hand experience.

When you realize most of what you have been taught most of your life are lies. In other words fake.
Hipsters were the first thing that came to my mind. Hipsters are completely phony because they look at the ideals of the world, realize they might fail at achieving them, and adopt the complete antithesis. A normal man would like to be tall, rich, handsome, powerful. A normal woman would prefer to be beautiful, slender, popular. Although most will fall short in any or all of these categories, the goal is to strive for success. But a hipster would rather be weak than strong, homely than attractive, poor than rich, unkempt than stylish.
A hipster “man” is either an androgynous/feminine specimen, skeletal and pale with a faux squeaky voice or a chubby lumberjack clone with overgrown, unmanageable facial hair and copious layers of drab, dirty, and dingy clothing, topped with a wool hat, no matter the temperature. A hipster female colours her short cropped haircut, wears extremely tight unmatched clothing coupled with antique footware, and pierces and tattoos every part of the visible body. They keep a running tally of their made up social causes, carbon footprint brownie points, and minority and LGBTQxxxxxx associations for bragging rights to their peers. Their voluntary vow of poverty extends to all areas except their daily coffee budget, Apple store credit card and very often, lavish urban loft rent.
How are we to succeed with such quixotic subgroups being normalized and leading the charge in the millennial advance on Western society?
And all pictures and even videos are suspect in that they could have been edited. I use Photoshop a lot but mainly to improve color and sharpness and remove distractions from the photo, not to create a “fake” image. Example, I had a fantastic beach landscape picture that I took that I wanted to use as the “desktop” picture on my monitor except my cousins wife was in the middle of the picture, no improvement to the scenery at all I can assure you. So I edited her out and now I have this amazing picture of a beach on my computer. Is it in any way a fake, no it is an excellent view of the beach without the distraction.
Of course I’ve done the opposite and created “fake” pictures, I’ve made fat people less fat, I’ve removed wrinkles and made people look a lot younger, hell I can even make myself into a young good looking guy.
A far shorter list would be What is Genuine?
The answers are the same as they have been in every other age:
Art, Love and Liberty. Take these basic concepts in their broadest terms and they represent everything that really matters in life (given physiological needs are meant).
The worst part of our society is that the fake shit is loud and ubiquitous and drowns out what is real.
Fake tits, asses, money, anything coming out of Warshington, Wall St, or Nueva York. DRUD hit it, just tell us what is real, it’ll take much less time.

Ha ha!… That picture totally reminded me of an actual experience I had a few yrs ago on some dating site. The picture of the girl was face only, and she looked kinda cute. So I asked her meet after chatting a few times. We meet and I basically saw….the picture above! Except that the picture above shows the face in a good angle. In my case she was not at all as cute as the pic. Obviously, like any man, or woman, I assume, I was shocked. I think she felt hurt that I wasn’t very interested anymore, but WTF, that wasn’t an honest exchange.

Don’t know what you mother/ex did to you, but obviously, you need to seek help AND find a better class of people to hang with. Since you mention clubs and bars, my first suggestion would be to stop dating woman of similar ages to your (biologically possible) offspring. I haven’t been “clubbing” since my late 20s.
