I’m conflicted.

Recognize that accent?

Yep.

So, I got no problem with them being trolled by one of their own. But, he’s gloating about burying the cars of the “fuckin’ shut-ins” (and being all warm and cozy) while he has to work..

Last time I looked, nobody was forcing him to take that job at gunpoint.

Openly gloating about the money he’s making while fucking over folks smart enough to stay inside when there’s a blizzard outside…

Part of me hopes he gets fired for being a complete fucking tool…

Then another part remembers that it’s a tool fucking over other tools…

Then the first part reminds me that he’s a government employee making a living off the backs of coerced producers…. but, those tool producers voted for the tool fucktards who taxed them in the first place, and then hired this other tool to plow the roads…

It’s a vicious circle… I can’t decide whether I should be happy the coerced tools are getting fucked thrice over (taxation, blizzard, car buried by other tool) or be disappointed someone would be happy to fuck over the very people who provide him with a paycheck and a living…

In the next few years, he will be promoted to Stormtrooper at the DHS.

Ugh, a Boston/Ebonics accent, horrors! Still not as bad as a Jersey accent. Did I tell you about the first time I heard a chick with a Jersey accent? Kill a boner. Only Sensetti could handle that shit and take care of business.

I despise Hollywood’s Southern Accents; they really don’t need to try so hard to sound stupid.

I actually sound quite a bit like this guy. Plowing snow in Boston is both challenging and exhausting. Narrow roads, tight parking and very little if any space to put the snow when you clear of your car and clear the sidewalk in front of you home as is required by the city. Don’t even think about taking someone’s space after the have cleared it, the retribution in Boston is swift and brutal.

Billy, I think this guy is actually enjoying his job (maybe a little too much), and the vast majority of the plow drivers around here are subcontractors, not direct employees of the state/cities. It’s decent side money but you won’t get rich, the state/cities take months to pay up and it beats the shit out of you truck. I know since I have done a fair amount of snow plowing up here.

Bob.

Not picking a fight, but don’t subcontractors still get paid from State/City coffers?

Here’s how we dealt/deal with snow around here.

First winter we moved here, we got hit with some snow. Not a lot, but enough to warrant plowing and salting.

The fucktard County snowplow guy ran over our mailbox. I know he did. I watched him do it.

Rather than going through the hassle of having the county pay for a new mailbox, we took the opportunity to improve the situation. Dug a hole, put up a sturdy treated bit of 4X4. Nice mailbox on top, with our name on it and house number. Then we put a shitload of reflectors all over it. It hasn’t been hit since.

This last snowstorm, we got hit pretty good.

This isn’t a primary road, so snowplow guy made one pass, and then amskrayed – there’s other roads more important than ours that need attention, and I get that.

So, what happened was that the locals who live on this road – neighbors and friends of mine – who had the right equipment started properly plowing the roads using their own equipment, time, fuel, etc…

Of course, our driveway got plowed in. I was staring out the window at the 4+ foot high berm of snow blocking our way (I had already prepped and positioned my truck in such a manner as to be instantly ready to go if there was an emergency, no matter what was in the way – love me that old truck. It’s fucking unstoppable). I resigned myself to the fact that I was facing at least 6 hours of shoveling to clear my driveway (being as the tractor was put up with the mower still attached – it would take at least an hour to flip it over to snow plow duty, so fuck that).

I started suiting up – long johns, North Face expeditionary coat, liner, heavy gloves, snow boots, blah, blah…

My boy and I went outside and started chopping out way through the snow that was drifted 3 feet high, taking turns. He would shovel till he got tired, then I would relieve him. And so it went..

For about an hour. The neighbor who had plowed in our driveway came back in a little skid steer with a blade on the front. I figured he was just going to roll on by and head home. He didn’t have to plow the road, after all… or even stop.

He stopped and then apologized profusely not only for plowing us in, but also for his delay in getting back to us. He had plowed the church parking lot, then his mamma’s driveway, then his neighbor’s drive, then his own… all unasked for. He apologized again and then proceeded to plow our driveway for us as compensation for plowing us in, in the first place. Any and all offers of compensation were refused – even the offer of a hot cup of something to drink.

When our driveway was finished, he said he was going home to get warm and drove off with a wave…

We went out later and put a thank you note in their mailbox, along with a bottle of our hard-to-come-by schnapps out of the stash… he had remarked on how much he liked it a year earlier. Figured he would like a whole bottle even better…

That’s how it’s done down here…

This year my boss picked up a 938 CAT loader with a nice, wide pushbox. The last couple of years I was stuck in an old Deere 310 backhoe with over 12000 hrs, put it in 3rd and the tranny overheats, no defrost, a real POS, only good for trenching.
I do a local strip mall, no street or residential, damn homeowners are a real pain in the ass. We refuse all res work, plus, the mall pays pronto. Since the storm hit Fri thru Sat, my 938 tore it up. And, since Bergen County has these gay-ass Blue laws (no retail on Sun). I was able to work thru Sunday with low to no mall rats.
The boss charges 125$hr for the loader, I get 45$hr to operate it. I worked almost 55hrs. Not bad for snow work.

“Openly gloating about the money he’s making while fucking over folks smart enough to stay inside when there’s a blizzard outside…———— Billy

WHO is he “fucking over”???

He’s doing his job …. plowing streets, and that means snow gets pushed back into the driveway or, if one is stoopid and doesn’t move their car it means the car gets packed in snow. What’s the guy supposed to do? Stop by every driveway and clear it out? Yeah, right.

Now … his ATTITUDE sucks ass. I’ll give you that. But, what if he wept profusely after every driveway or car got recovered with snow? It doesn’t change a thing.

Stucky- I lived in Toledo, OH through two rough winters in my younger days. When I looked out in the morning, my car would be buried almost to the roof with snow. That is a shitey bastard that will bury your car and enjoy it. Just sayin…..

Stuck, old Phil from NY said that some folks will gladly pay up when a car mechanic takes a long time to fix their car. Then they bitch when a better mechanic fixes their car in 15 minutes but charges them the same. whether this guy celebrates or weeps after covering a car in slush and snow, he is still going to be cursed by the car owners come morning.

I must be insane… all I can think is, if people hadn’t shoveled their snow into the street, it wouldn’t end up getting pushed back into their driveways. Put it in the lawn, parkway, anywhere BUT the street.

And if you have a car, dig it out including the street side so any plow that comes through won’t have snow to push back against it. Better yet, get it off the street entirely, even if it means paying for parking in a lot for a few days.

I must be insane.

I never parked on the street, only in the apartment complex lot and I STILL got my car buried by those rat bastards.

I don’t see the problem myself. What the hell do people expect him to do? No matter WHAT that plow driver does he’s going to be the asshole. If he sits in a cozy coffee shop………….asshole. If he plows the cars and driveways in………..asshole. He can’t win so fuck it……….he has a good time with it. People are idiots. Here’s the deal, if you live in snow country you deal with it or you fucking MOVE!

Around here, the plow guys are pretty fucking good. Whenever possible they will avoid plowing you in especially if you’ve already taken care of your shit. I witness it nearly every year. Then again, I shovel my show to the sides of my driveway and not into the street. When I have time I actually use my snowblower to remove snow from the curb towards the street for about six feet. That way there is almost no snow for the plow drivers to move in front of my place. It also provides a place for pedestrians to walk since there are no sidewalks in my neighborhood.

What’s really stupid is that our city spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to install hydraulic side gates on our plows which allow the plow drivers to block the snow from filling your driveway approach. They worked great! It did slow the plows down a bit and the sheople bitched that the city was taking too long to plows the streets so the city uninstalled these gates and they now sit rusting in the city motor pool yard.

When ever my neighbors and I are around we keep an ear out for the plows and get out right away to remove the berms before they freeze into immovable glaciers. If a neighbor isn’t home we try to take care of each others plowed in berms as well. I had ankle surgery two years in a row and my neighbors took care of my shit for me. No need to ask. For the past two years I’ve been paying them back……….again, no need to ask. They just wake up to cleared driveways like I did.
