Man Fatally Shot During Traffic Stop In Minnesota, Governor Reportedly Evacuated

Tyler Durden's picture

A man identified as Philando Castile, 32, was shot and killed during a traffic stop Wednesday evening in Falcon Heights, Minnesota that could spark yet another round of social unrest throughout the nation.

St. Anthony Police chief Jon Mangseth said the incident began when an officer from his agency initiated a traffic stop around 9pm, and at some point an officer fired, striking the man. Mangseth said he didn’t know what the reason was, and police didn’t say what led to the shooting. Castile’s girlfriend and a 7-year old child were also in the car when the incident took place, and the girlfriend allegedly started to live stream the incident on Facebook as it started to unfold. Mangseth said he had been “made aware there was a live stream on Facebook” but said he hadn’t yet seen the video and didn’t know anything about its contents.

According to the WSJ, the video shows a woman sitting in a car with a man slumped in a seat wearing a shirt that appeared to be soaked in blood. A person who appeared to be an armed police officer stood at the car’s window. The woman can be heard saying “we got pulled over for a busted taillight.” And the officer tells her to keep her hands up, and says “I told him not to reach for it. I told him to get his hand out.

You shot four bullets into him, sir. He was just getting his license and registration, sir” the woman responds.

The girlfriend says the man was licensed to carry a gun and was trying to get his ID and wallet when the officer shot him – police say a handgun was recovered from the scene.

According to the StarTribune, the 10-minute video shows the girlfriend being ordered from her car by several officers, one of whom is holding a child. “Please don’t tell me my boyfriend’s gone.” the girlfriend pleads in the video,. “He don’t deserve this, please. He works for St. Paul Public Schools. He’s never been in jail, anything. He’s not a gang member, anything.” At one point the young girl can be heard saying “I’m scared, mommy.”

Police just shot my boyfriend for no apparent reason.” the woman says.

A 28-year old nursing student who declined to be named said she was sitting in the parking lot of a nearby apartment building and saw the scene unfold. “I just heard the officer say, ‘Put your hands up,’ and before he finished saying that there were four shots.” the woman said.

Relatives of Castile described him as a good, hardworking man who had worked in the J.J. Hill school cafeteria for 12 to 15 years “cooking for the little kids.”

By 12:30am, dozens of people – peaceful but visibly angry – had gathered at the scene in Falcon Heights, some chanting anti-police slogans. An estimated 100 people protesting the fatal shooting even arrived around 2am at the governor’s residence in St. Paul the StarTribune reports, chanting “No justice, no peace” while car horns sounded, and people could be heard yelling “shut it down!”, and “wake up”, demanding that governor Mark Dayton come out and speak.

As the crowd grew in number, the crowd moved to the Minnesota Governor’s mansion in St. Paul, shouting and honking their car horns. “No justice, no sleep,” they chanted at the mansion’s gate. “Mark Dayton, do you care?” Reports indicate the governor, Mark Dayton, has been evacuated by police.

* * *

With the events in Ferguson, Baltimore, and recently a police shooting in Baton Rouge, the country could very well be in for yet another round of severe social unrest. This comes at a time when tensions and rhetoric is already high on the political front as Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton ramp up campaign efforts and negative attack ads on television. And given that the economy is already on very shaky ground, we could be in for a very long remainder of the summer.

They gave Dayton an enema? What passes for journalism these days……

I live in Minneapolis. Falcon Heights is a little first ring burb, north and west.

Pulling the guy over for a broken tail light. This is a perfect example of the law of unintended consequences. Don’t mess with people / stuff unless you really have to. Cop got himself into a situation that he couldn’t handle. Now we’re going to have to put up with BLM for the next umpteen years.

Hillary gets off, while this poor chump gets capped.

It probably took and hour to gather all the sedatives / anti-depressants that Mark Dayton consumes.

Wonder how the cop let it escalate to that point over what seems to be just a family in a car with a broken tail light?

Something seriously wrong with that police department that this happened, either how it trains officers of the kind of people it lets become officers.

At least from what is shown and reported here, my opinion subject to change if emerging facts show otherwise.

“Wonder how the cop let it escalate”

The cop escalated it. He murdered a man in the man’s car, in front of the man’s family, for no reason whatsoever. Did you read a different article or some shit? WTF is wrong with you?

Well someone allowed it to happen and the cop was in charge of the situation so who else would you place blame on?

The man that got shot?

I hate to say it, but we’re all in the same boat. I’ve no time for niggers, generally they get what’s coming. But shit – the system doesn’t give a rat’s arse what colour you are. As evidenced in the last 24 Hrs., Blair, Clinton, we’re on our own.
If you don’t want to sleep tonight, read this:

If you never want to sleep again, read these:

But not to worry, Iron Man is now a 15yo nigger bitch from MIT. What’s the harm?

That could easily have been any one of us. Just like with Alton Sterling, simply having a license to carry and a weapon on you gives the police a reason to shoot to kill. Neither one of these guys had the weapon drawn. From what we can tell, Castile properly informed the officer he was carrying. Just as many of us would have done. I don’t care what the color of his skin was, he was an American citizen. Remember the Hangman.

FWIW, Oath Keepers released this statement related to the Alton Sterling death, but with two similar shootings in a matter of days, it is VERY likely that riots could erupt in every major city.

Our members in Louisiana, and the citizens of Louisiana, need to be on high alert for the possibility of civil unrest, rioting, looting, and arson on a scale of Ferguson, Baltimore, or perhaps even as bad as what we saw during the 1992 Rodney King riots. And remember, the Rodney King riots spread from Las Angeles to multiple cities around the nation in a matter of hours. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that any riots will be confined to Baton Rouge.

If you are in, or near, any area that may erupt in riots, you need to take serious precautions to secure yourself, your family, your home or business, and those of your neighbors, NOW! You cannot count on the police, on the fire department, or the emergency medical services to help you. You must be ready to help yourselves, and that goes for defense, fire protection, and emergency medical aid. If you don’t already have a neighborhood watch, with teeth, now is the time to get it done.

How does that russian quote go about if the secret police feared for their lives each time they went out to arrest people, maybe there wouldnt have been as many secret police. Shit like this makes me not want to stop for police. If I was black, I might be trying to shoot first, just in case. Ounce of prevention, pound of coffin.

Be more effective if they feared for the lives of their families when they returned from their raid.

Some governments have been known to use that strategy to keep both their opponents and minions in line, turnabout is fair play sometimes.

But not our government, of course, nothing funny or unexplainable ever seems to happen there.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? After all, you knew ahead of time that those bluecaps were out at night for no good purpose. And you could be sure ahead of time that you’d be cracking the skull of a cutthroat.”

Jimski,

I asked a question yesterday concerning another similar incident and you kindly responded and kudos to your brother by the way (he seems to be an exception not the rule).

These incidents are becoming more and more common. Maybe things like this happened before at the same rate but I doubt it. Look at the facts:
Incarceration rates in the U.S. has exploded over the past 25 years due in large part to the “war on drugs”.
Asset forfeiture more prevalent and used by LE
Police militarization (Jimski I believe you mention your LEO brother was also military with tours of duty).
Prioritization of “officer safety”
Rampant steroid use among LEO’s
Immunity from prosecution
Increased surveillance
Increased #’s of LEO and consequently a decrease in hiring standards (this goes for contractors as well – I submit the “contracted” security guard responsible for the Florida nightclub massacre as exhibit A)
ETC., etc., etc…

Do you still stand by the premise that most LEO are good people like your brother or is this just another example of the bad 10%? What percentage is acceptable to be bad, especially when they yield the power to kill with immunity?

There is no excuse for this. This cop should go to jail for murder. If you can’t handle having an armed citizen who ISN’T aggressive then how will you handle the Crunch? You will create a society of snipers and further degrade the rule of law. Although, after Cankles skating, it’s hard to make a case for there being any rule of law in America these days…

The irony is that the FSA is now suffering from the Courts lowering the IQ standards for cops, like the lowering of IQs of public school teachers to satisfy the courts demands for more Black teachers, politicians with gerrymandering, etc.

FYI, the dead guy has numerous court “records”, but NONE higher than a petty misdemeanor. Most involve driving w/o proof of insurance, driving after revocation and driving without a seatbelt. His worst violation in almost 5 years is a “snow emergency violation” (didn’t move his car before the snow plow came). And a couple of parking tickets for leaving a car on the street for more than 48 hours. Anyone who lives in the city and doesn’t have off-street parking is going to run afoul of those rules. http://pa.courts.state.mn.us/

Giving credit for restraint on the part of the cop, he only killed the man and left the woman and child alive.

Gotta be optimistic about this kind of thing, a glass half full or a glass half empty sort of thing.

TPTB are doing a great job screwing up society by allowing mentally unstable individuals to become LEOs. Then in these incidents, where they focus a lot on race, which is surely part of it, but not the other part of it about people losing trust in the police and law. The two together, distrust of police and increased animosity between races….No bueno.

I’ve finally begun educating myself about an aspect of our govt that I’ve been reluctant to know about. I intend to make a post about it in the near future.

One of the things I’ve learned in this line of inquiry is exactly *how* we are owned and make no mistake, we are owned. We are someone’s property and the fact is that owners of property are allowed to do what they want with their property in the same way that I can put my dog down or HSF can put down his animals. The police are literally the enforces for our owners (I doubt most of them realize this.) which explains why so few of them are prosecuted and instead, protected.

This shit will continue. Learn from it and live your life accordingly or perish like this poor bastard.

Granted this is fresh and we are only speculating on the facts that can be seen in the video but from the looks of it this police shooting it one of the most egregious in recent history. I’ve always contended that the #BLM idiots trashed Ferguson for a “thug” idiot kid that would be alive today had he just walked on the sidewalk. Other similar instances had the “community” up in arms over not the most upstanding community members. AND the response is an organization that is outright racist – BLM.

All that said, I have no love for the fucking police. They are glorified tax collectors and for the most part thugs themselves that thrive on power. Oddly enough they are typically lazy fuckers that hide behind a firearm. Sure, some are good guys but that’s a minority from what I’ve seen. For a long time I’ve said we should look to our British friends for how to “arm” our police. Over there they don’t carry guns…and in the USA they shouldn’t either. THE FUCKING POLICE SHOULD BE AFRAID OF THE PEOPLE, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. Now if I get pulled over for a busted tail light and the cop wants to rough me up a nightstick can do some serious damage, but it’s gonna take some effort to kill someone that way. And if a thug pulls a gun the cop should run to a safe distance and call for backup…not escalate the situation with his own weapon…that he shouldn’t carry in the first place.

Make that 11 cops shot and six now dead in Dallas. It’s tragic but the cops and police departments around the nation have earned this.

I heard it estimated that 50 to 60 shots were fired by the two shooters and you could hear on the videos that there was semi auto fire. These two shooters were good. To take out 11 armed moving men with at least one in a close quarters gun fight, with only two magazines worth of ammo takes some super skill and discipline. Any one who has carried an M16 or M4 will know this. They were positioned well. The attack was planned. They escaped their positions and it took three hours and hundreds of cops to subdue them. I still think that they must have fired more than 60 rounds to do the damage they did.

I may be wrong but tomorrow we might discover that these maniacs were ex military, home grown Americans. I noticed that there was a pack of Islams in the crowd of demonstrating social justice warriors who ran every which way in stampedes of panic desperately looking for a safe space. But I don’t think this was Islamic terror. But it might be. I guess we’ll know soon enough.

Obama, Hilldabeast and others will blame the guns rather than relentless brutality, violence, and unaccountably of the nations police. They will use this to cry out for strict gun control and divert attention from Clinton’s many unaccountable crimes. Trump can’t say this time that if there were armed people present this would not be as tragic. There were hundreds of armed cops present and many shooting back.

This is the kind of thing that all along has worried the shit out of the institutional drones and the TPTB and why they want us all disarmed. Now it’s happened. Look what two well armed, disciplined shooters out numbered and out gunned 100 to one can do. Think about what a dozen pissed off Ex Marines or Special Forces men could do. Or a hundred armed gangbangers on crack (modern day bazerkers). The cause to disarm us will be stronger and more draconian than ever and will gain a lot of traction with the idiot public and politicians of all stripes. They will push for a total semi automatic rifle ban and confiscation and maybe get it. If you don’t have a good fighting rife today is the best time to get one.

With all the wild social and financial shit that is starting to fly all over I wonder what will happen at the DemPulican conventions or at election time. Should be a long hot bloody summer and not just in Shitcago.

This protest was peaceful but I noticed lots of children present. Who brings their kids to a protest when they know that any protest no matter how benignly intended can turn ugly and dangerous. We are a nation full of morons, run by morons who work for criminals. We are doomed.
