I have lovely New Zealand meat rabbits making little rabbit nuggets in the back yard. Sometimes, they attract some wild rabbits from the wooded land who come sniffing to see if they can get lucky. I will admit to being tempted to turn a couple of does loose and see if I can make the local rabbit population more interesting with a white rabbit here and there. However, the kits are NOT CURIOUS. I put a couple of them onto the grass near their hutch to see if they will migrate into the local rabbit population.
The answer is NO. They might hop around the yard a bit and nibble the grass, but they have absolutely NO WISH to leave the comfort of captivity. And when I lean down and hold out my hand, they hop to me and let me pick them up. Even after they saw what I did to their litter-mates.
