Multiple People Shot, Including House Majority Whip Scalise At Congressional Baseball Practice

Multiple people have been shot, including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and aides, during a baseball practice in Virginia Wednesday, Fox News confirmed. The shots were reported on East Monroe Street in Del Ray, Alexandria police said on Twitter at 7:30 a.m. The location was near a YMCA.

A reporter from the Huffington Post tweeted that a congressman said he “heard there was a shooting at the Congressional baseball game practice field.” ABC 7 News reported “multiple shooting” in the 400 block of E. Monroe Street.

According a report from Rep. Mo Brooke, who said he was not shot, more than 50 rifle shots were fired.

The suspected is “believed in custody,” ABC reported, according to Alexandria police.

Doesn’t Rand Paul have a CCW permit? This happened in Virginia. Could he not be legally carrying his own pistol? What about the various other attendees?

Persnickety
Persnickety
  Administrator
June 14, 2017 10:07 am

Good point, had to look it up. So far as I can tell Rand and others could be legal in two different ways:

1) Normal reciprocity
http://www.vsp.state.va.us/Firearms_Reciprocity.shtm

2) Virginia non-resident permit

Which States?

I’ll be curious to hear how this develops. If not one single one of them was carrying, when it appears they could legally do so, that sends its own message.

Incidentally, members of Congress are also immune to most law enforcement action while Congress is in session and that might be a third avenue to legal carry even without a permit, but obviously one that wouldn’t play well politically. See Article 1, Section 6. One can argue about the “felony” wording, but a reasonable interpretation would be what it meant in 1789, and concealed carry was not a crime, much less a felony, at that time.

Yet the questions remain thus far:

Was it an Antifa-minded, white male with a semi-automatic weapon (who just saw Trump assassinated at “Shakespeare in the Park”), now fighting the fascist Trump regime?

Or an angry, Deplorable white male with a semi-automatic weapon, warning Republicans to get behind Trump or else?

In the case of the former, would the Democrats now decelerate their attacks on the Second Amendment? Or, in the event of the latter, will they soon expedite them?

Either way, stay tuned as the world turns and the real spin begins.

Unfortunately, it’s usually the buildup of a string of small events. Then the powder keg blows. The powder keg is going to be uber painful for Democrats. Flyover country cold anger is long lasting and deeper and the hothead city slickers are going to find out the hard way.

To those of you wishing for civil war, you may wanna listen to the wisdom of George Washington. War is horrific. There is a way to avoid it but if myopic dipshits on both sides don’t start thinking about statewide referenda or conventions then there’s no avoiding the inevitable.

For people who can’t face reality, everything is some kind of conspiracy or “false flag” and nothing ever actually happened the way it obviously actually happened.

It will be interesting to see who the shooter is aligned with, if aligned with anyone, or if it was just a mental case that went off because of the rather vicious MSM/Leftist campaign against the Republicans and the right.

a few comments by folks pointed out that in the event of a “false flag” persons of name or title wouldnt be injured (only the masses). It was also pointed out that if it was a hit, it wouldnt have failed.

Regardless it would be more interesting to know if this practice was on their congressional calendars, as well as its location or did the shooter stumble upon it; however he did have to ask if they were R or D? (It was also said in the press that the dems were practicing at the same time at a field several miles away.)

Since it was a politician who claimed that somebody asked him that question, it could very well be bullshit. Since it was a CNN reporter tweeting about it, it could have been a bullshit report of a bullshit statement, in a bullshit attempt to imply that it was the shooter who asked that.

Ken, it may have been 10-12 shots fired over a space of 30 seconds. Eyewitness accounts can be pretty far off the mark when the eyewitnesses are excited/terrified over what they witnessed. When the eyewitnesses are members of Congress, the eyewitness reports are also likely to be total bullshit, made up on the spot.

When partisan politics keep being played so they can all continue to eat ever bigger peices of cheese rather than make this country the best it can be. I cannot understand why, if everything a politician does is to make us better, properly spend money, and plant a prosperous seed why we are not all on the same side. If someone cannot see the outcome of their laws or rules even after much proof things are not working well, a businessman will change tactics or strategy, but politicians throw more bad money after the bad idea. Then partisan politics happen…..why because the are all getting rich off us. Why does every politician enter government broke but leave a few years later multi millionaires and we do or say nothing…..then idiots get so crazy crap like this happens and affects all our freedoms and peace. I can only imagine if it were the other side did this how the media will keep this in the news for months….this will pass within a week since it was one of their own…..

I’d bet up to $1.37 that this Leftist Fuckstain went out to buy an Evil Black Rifle ™ to go kill some Evil Fascists and ended up getting the 22LR version because it was Evil and Black and in-budget for the unemployable Leftist Fuckstain bank account, without bothering to check what caliber it actually was chambered for. I mean, they’re black so they all look the same, right? Then he asked the gun store person for a box of shells (/s), then probably had to get instructions on how to load the clip (/s). Then went straight past Go and directly to Commie Pairadice because Leftist Fuckstains typically don’t know that rifles, especially rimfire ones, do need to be zeroed and adjusted for the particular shells (/s) any given Leftist Fuckstain plans to use to spread their diversity and social justice on a baseball field.

I.S. – I try to drop by for special occasions and today’s festivities were a doozy. Had to see what the STM’s were on about. Comments section at ZH is tiresome and I never did set up an account there. It is nice to see a handful of the old crew still kicking around, including yourself.

Rdawg – That’s why the little sarc tags are next to my intentionally inaccurate descriptions of common firearm components. You know, in case a leftist fucktard reads it I want them to understand me too :). And I don’t know about you, but my SKS has mags. Clips are for cartridge storage and inventory. Don’t have a Garand, though I’ve been fiending for a good M1A/M14 type for YEARS.
I listened to the audio track of that couple minute long vid Admin posted and it sounds – through my computer speakers replaying shitty cell recording – like a ping pong of 9mm/40S&W and 5.56 at about 1/2 mile, which based on the usual expected equipment for a scenario like this is what it might well have been. I don’t know what they were actually shooting at each other being 500 miles away and all, but 22LR Stingers are pretty damn loud out of a shorter barreled weapon, so it could have been a AR pattern 22LR. Early morning like that the sound will carry farther and appear louder to the ears than it otherwise would later in the day. Leftists never were very good at firearm nomenclature anyway, so why should we expect them to be worth a shit when shopping for a gun? I’m thinking he saw the $350 one next to the $800 one and they were both scary looking, so he went for the cheap one. Thus, maroon.

Apologies. I was unfamiliar with the (/s) notation. Thank you for educating me.

I tried those Tapco detachable mags for my SKS but didn’t like them. I have the standard 10 round fixed mag and a shit-ton of those stripper clips. I have looked far and wide for the 20 round fixed mag, but am so far unwilling to pay the ridiculous prices.

No worries. Unfettered assholery is the main draw for this site! I’ll answer to shouts of “Hey asshole!!” in public. Wifey hates it.

I used to have one of the OE 20rd fixed box mags off a Norinco. Sold it a few years ago. If I still had it, I’d send it to ya.

About those Tapcos – I tried the first generation of them with the original beech stock and they weren’t worth a shit. I think I even just threw them out since I didn’t know anybody else with a SKS at the time. Last year I got one of those ATI Monte Carlo stocks for mine (an ’86 Yugo) and decided to try the detachable thing again. Got two from Midway on sale for $12 each and they both work flawlessly. I was always a fan of the fixed 10rd box myself, makes for an easier prone shot and doesn’t stab me in the ribs when I sling it over my shoulder, but these newer poly 20rd Tapcos hold 21 if you’re going hot right away or will hold 20 and you can push the first round down a bit to close the bolt over an empty chamber for storage and still have a full mag. Only bitch I’ve got with the new layout is the cheek weld height changed so the iron sights are a pain to line up. I ended up just dialing up the front post and rear leaf really high then re-zeroed them to 200m so I could still use the fucking things. No optics of course. It’s basically impossible to find a decent mount for an SKS and those rifles aren’t supposed to be hyper accurate anyway (though the Hornady SST will make a BIG difference over Russian steel cased out to 400m). Minute of grapefruit at 200m as-is with the steel cheapies. Good enough for gov’t work!

All of this discussion would of course be complete gibberish to the Leftist Fuckstain from earlier today… My gun hating wife scored more 8 ring-or-better hits the first time she ever shot a gun (last year!) than this guy in VA did. Thank God this latest batch of 21st century commies can’t shoot worth a fuck.
