highly intelligent man-
he’s multi tasking, teaching jr while practicing his skills and comparing the toughness/durability of competing gear lines, all while conserving his strength for the important things in life such as going down to the buffet or taking care of mama–

I used to use a deep sea fishing rod and large reel with hundreds of yards of 100# test monofilament line attached to a kite, for flying at the beach. It made it so easy to reel in when done, and I could even put the pole in rod holder and multitask when necessary. Reeling it in I could pretend I had a nice fish on the line. Lazy, but fun.

What you don’t see in the gif is that there is a second line attached to the ball with Mom around the corner of the house. Can’t let little Johnny strike out.

An ingenious solution for laziness.

Pretty darn clever. I would tell him there is a long handled thing with a ball at the end sold specifically for batting drills. He wouldn’t have to reel it in. I imagine the kid getting to see the ball fly does have some value FWIW.

LAZY OR INGENIOUS?

Both, and I love it.

Ya’ know, that kid actually whacks that ball pretty good for his size.

This guy hit a trifecta. Batting practice for his kid, quality time between father and son, and showing his kid how to think outside the box. I agree with TJF… “Brilliant!”, a word I use with discretion.

Betting than doing absolutely nothing with his child. “A man’s got to know his limitations.” – Dirty Harry

This guy hasn’t let his limitations (his laziness or lack of desire to run and chase a ball) to stop him one bit.

Laziness is the Father of invention.
