I’m not sure which law applies. there are folks who peruse the contents of my recycling bin for bottles and cans. My take is this, it’s trash. The damn trash company does not pay me to separate recyclables for their convenience. I pay them to come pick up my trash. My trash – including recyclable cans and bottles – is not the property of the trash company until they pick it up.
I will apply the same opinion here, the dumper owners haven’t picked it up. If they don’t want folks cherry-picking from the donated goods, they should put trap doors on the bins. For those purists who think the bin owners are being cheated; there was an article on those donation stations. Lots of them are owned by an international cartel of terrorists, bad hombres, not the Goodwill Salvation Army folks.
Lots of times, folks dump stuff off in the vicinity of the hopper. What’s a free-shitter to do?
I hear some folks have made dumpster-diving into an art-form.
Late aside: Folks in the AV have taken to dumping stuff off on 70th Street East between Palmdale Blvd and Avenue J. Nobody has a claim on the stuff, it is unwanted, it’s free!!!!!!!!
