If he ever actually ends up acting violently against an intruder on his property, whether justified or not, that sign isn’t going to be used for his defense at trial.
It will more likely be used to charge him, showing his intent to kill in advance of and without any justifiable need for it.
There are very few places or circumstances where a trespasser can be killed just for trespassing.
