I wonder when it is Ok to use the “N” word.
On Wednesday while I was driving to an appointment, there was a “N” standing in the middle of the road. He looked like a homeless dude and I had no idea what the hell he was doing. It was a two lane road and he was pointing at the on coming lane as if he was directing me. I rolled my window down as I slowed down. When I got close enough to him he started yelling and cursing something so I started cursing his ass out also. I don’t know what the fuck he wants.
I can’t understand a damn word so I pull back into my correct land and stop. All of a sudden a big f’n tree falls right down across both lanes of traffic and hits the back of an SUV coming from the other direction. The tree missed my car by 10 feet. The SUV never even stopped, which blows my mind because I say branches hit it. There had to be at least some damage. I could not f’n believe it. Two stupid as fuck “N”s where chopping a tree down. As soon as the tree fell, I started cursing at the dumb “N” again. I called that fuckhole a dumb “N” and told him he and his stupid as fuck partner where dumber than fuck and I was calling the cops.
These two knuckleheads had no cones, no stop/slow signs, no hazmat(?) jackets or anything that would warn anyone what the hell was going on. I am serious, I almost got killed (or is it kilt?).
Did I misuse the “N” word today? My black coworker told me I am never allowed to use the “N” word. I told him to stop crying, it’s only a word.
One of the “N”s had a chain attached to his pickup truck and the tree and pulled it down onto the road.

As an aside, to black people, and other sensitive groups of pussies everywhere – words only have power over you if you let them. There is no magic juju, voodoo, or witchcraft in the word ‘nigger’. Every time you fly off the handle when a white person says it, you just further demonstrate to everyone that you have zero self control, and that you are, after all, mostly a bunch of adult sized children, really slow children. It also shows an inferiority complex. When southern whites are mocked by the cloud people and called names, most of us don’t get all butt hurt about it. We are probably the most talked down to, disdained group in the country. Most of us don’t get mad though. I don’t like them either. But, most importantly, I don’t care what their opinion of me happens to be. It has no bearing on my life. Stop letting words have such hold over you.

I’m starting to feel bad. My father, who used to use the word occasionally, said the word is too harsh. I was very upset when I did it. Shit, it took a couple of hours to calm down. It was a very close call.

I heard it in my youth, in a northern part of the country.
We are learned creatures of our environment and company.
Sometimes derogatory, other times just to more easily distinguish as a non Caucasian, I used to think.
In my teens I listened to a Richard Pryor album & laughed my ass off at his comedy genius, albeit with his self denigrating use of the word nigger very liberally.
Somewhere along the way, the word got blackballed from allowed usage by any non black, as a derogatory, disrespectful; an offensive noun.

From a white man’s lips, instead of disregarding it, they make a choice to take offense, demand apologies, or counteract with an equal slur, violence or revenge.
First time I went south, (30 years ago), I sensed southern blacks as being more relaxed, friendly, and tolerable, as opposed to the northerners, who seem to be more uppity, arrogant NWA’s.
That’s not the same as quiet confidence exhibited by some blacks, who can be civil and successful amidst whites.
Why don’t civil blacks denounce ignorant arrogant blacks very often?

I’ve seen blacks re-elect openly corrupt mayors, because a bad one of them is preferred over a good white candidate. Sad.
I’ve been on the receiving end of pack mentality, humiliation & intimidation from them, besides a victim of black thieves.

Most people do not know what the word “nigger” means or where it came from. This should be instructive for you if you are one of these people. “Nigger” actually comes from Latin. Niger is a Latin Word that means BLACK. Yeah, seriously.
Its commonly mis-spelled, but spelling correctly is apparently “racism” too. Since most blacks cannot really read and write except at the most basic level. I have a feeling the common mis-spelling is due to illiterate blacks and NOT THE KLAN.
I believe in diversity in language.
Sometimes I just change the nouns.
Picaninny or yard jockey works just fine.

Allowed implies authority over you. To whom was this authority granted and by what power? And do you wish to abdicate any of your autonomy to anonymous arbiters of what is and isn’t allowable or can you trust yourself to use your best judgment?
What I find curious is that people- full grown adult humans- actually think that by using the phrase “the N word” people will be mysteriously protected, like knocking wood when you say something that may bring on a curse, as if from some hex. Are they so ignorant of how the mind works that the use of that phrase brings to mind the entire word, thereby negating the intent?
