TOT’S BATTLE: Who is Alfie Evans, how long has he been at Alder Hey hospital?

Via The Sun

ALFIE Evans has been at the centre of a life support battle between his parents, health officials and the British justice system for several months.

The tot’s life support was switched off after his family lost the most recent of a series of legal appeals. Here is what you need to know about the heartbreaking case.

Who is Alfie Evans?

Alfie Evans has been living in a coma for well over a year after being struck down with a mystery illness.

The 23-month-old missed numerous developmental milestones in his first seven months, his family said.

He started making “jerking, seizure-like movements” and was taken to the doctors, but his parents were told he was “lazy and a late developer”, the family claim.

But he caught a chest infection that caused seizures and was placed on life support at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool in December 2016.

What do we know about his mystery illness?

Alfie, who was born on May 9, 2016, is in a “semi-vegetative state” and has a degenerative neurological condition doctors had not definitively diagnosed.

Some experts believe he might have a mitochondrial condition – the same as Charlie Gard.

After he was admitted to Alder Hey, his parents were told he wasn’t going to make it – but he fought back to beat the infection and started breathing on his own.

But he caught another chest infection and had to go back on a ventilator when he began having more chronic seizures.

Alfie is described as being in a semi-vegetative state and doctors at Alder Hey have said it is in his best interest to stop mechanical ventilation.

What is mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome?

Mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome (MDS) refers to a group of disorders that cause affected tissues to suffer from a significant drop in mitochondrial DNA.

The DNA is found in the mitochondria of cells – an organelle found in most cells in which respiration and energy production occur.

This means, as in Charlie’s case, that sufferers do not get energy to their muscles, kidneys and brain.

MDS causes progressive muscle weakness and brain damage. The condition is rare and Charlie is said to be one of only 16 people to have ever had the condition.

MDS is almost always fatal in babies and young children, although some sufferers have made it into their teenage years.

There is currently no cure but some treatments have shown a reduction in symptoms.

One of these is Nucleoside bypass therapy.

Parents Kate James and Tom Evans have fought to keep their little boy Alfie Evans alive

Who are Alfie’s parents?

Alfie Evan’s parents are Tom Evans and Kate James, both in their 20s and from Liverpool.

The couple have consistently placed pressure on the justice system in a bid to keep their son alive.

Tom Evans has been particularly vocal in speaking out in public, slamming every one of the court rulings.

The couple appear to be religious, with Tom citing the 10 commandments in a court case, reminding the court “thou shalt not kill”.

Writing after judges at the European Court of Rights rejected the case, Tom said that he and his partner were “in bits, distraught, in pain”, and the decision meant their son was “about to be murdered”.

Tom and Kate have suffered a series of blows in their legal battles to keep Alfie alive.

They had taken their battle to the Supreme Court after the Court of Appeal agreed with Alder Hey that Alfie “could not be saved” and that it would be “unkind” and “futile” to continue treatment, but their bid was dismissed.

They had already lost a challenge at the Court of Appeal and failed to have the decision overturned at the Supreme Court and European Court of Human Rights.

Following one appeal, Lord Justice Davis, ruled that Alfie’s life support must be turned off and told lawyers that doctors had agreed that there was “no hope”.

He said: “We cannot have a kind of legal Groundhog Day where you come back again and again and again on the same point.”

Alfie’s life support was eventually turned off at 9.17pm on the evening of Monday, April 23.

However, the following morning his dad said that the little boy was still battling on and breathing unassisted hours later.

On the morning of Wednesday April 25, Tom said the tot was “still fighting”, although the Court of Appeal was told he was “struggling” later in the day.

As far as I can tell, the purpose of these extremely cruel cases in the UK is to demonstrate that the UK state OWNS its people like slaves, and if the state says you die, for their convenience or because it doesn’t fit their preferred narrative of the moment, you die. Refusing to die when told to do so is apparently treason.

If you know British history this isn’t the least bit unprecedented.

Yeah, they won’t let the kid out of the country for alternative treatment because it might work – and then they would look like fools.

But I do see another side to it: The extreme money and resources spent on one individual, who could never live a productive life, could be used to help many more who have lesser problems. The parents, who are in their 20’s, can easily conceive another child.

“Somewhere in California, one child’s medical expenses in 2014 totaled $21 million — a bill covered entirely by Medi-Cal, the state’s version of Medicaid.”

They also underscore the challenges policymakers are facing with possible cuts in the federal government’s contribution to Medicaid proposed in the House and Senate Obamacare repeal bills. For patients like these, there often isn’t anywhere to reduce costs, experts say.

“They are very expensive people with really expensive needs,” Kent said in an interview. “Your disease defines the treatment you require, and the costs are joined to that diagnosis…. That’s just the nature of the beast.”

On cash outlays I agree, and I’m not saying that the UK government should spend limitless money to try and save this very sick child. My problem is with their active blocking of the parents’ private attempts to get other treatment.

When the “insurance” payor says they won’t pay any more, that sucks and is a huge practical problem. But when the government says not only won’t they pay, but that your child is going to die on their schedule (like they did a year ago in a similar case) and you, as parents, are PROHIBITED from doing anything on your own to try and stop it, that’s totalitarian.

Who is Alfie? He’s a british subject. That means he’s been volunteered to be the property of the state. I don’t understand all the teeth gnashing about this. When you cede your rights to a central authority you dance to their tune. Who doesn’t know this? So buck up parents and get out into the streets with the other assholes celebrating the birth of the newest royal gang member (who’s life is infinitely more important than Alfie’s).

Watching people bitch about the results of their own actions pisses me off.

For your information, Italy conferred citizenship on Alfie and threatened action against Great Britain if he is not taken to Italy. Good for Italy! If Alfie dies, it will be considered murder according to the Italian government.

How the fuck does that change anything I wrote? So another country ‘conferred’ citizenship that, apparently, supersedes his brit ownership? Pull your head out of your ass. That poor child is not going anywhere and Italy is irrelevant. Who gives a shit what the italian or any other slave state thinks? He was born a subject and he’ll die one.

Here’s the point: citizenship means servitude.

Good for Italy, but their credibility for prosecuting murder is rather low after the Amanda Knox fuckup.

Alfie is now also an Italian citizen and apparently they’ve threatened a murder charge if the NHS doesn’t allow the child to leave the UK. Why not let him leave and euthanize the far-more-expensive to maintain QEII?

Who has the final say (other than God) whether this child (or any child) gets to live; the parents or the State?

It’s a tough question. Maybe “it depends” … on who is footing the bill. If it’s the parents paying, perhaps the State, or hospital, should just shut the fuck up and do as the parents wish. OTOH, why should the State (you and me) continue to pay a bill that likely will run into the millions of dollars?

If that was my child, I would let nature take its course. Suppose the parents prevail. What will they “win”, even if the child regains consciousness? A severely forever handicapped kid, perhaps even a vegetable? What favor are they doing the kid? Besides, if they are religious, why wouldn’t they conclude that the proper choice is a life free of pain and misery with God in heaven? Especially since they will be reunited with their child when it’s their turn to die? Bottom line; it appears that NONE of the players have the best interests of the child in mind … only their own best interests.

if it was my child & there was no real hope i probably would also allow nature to take it’s course–
however, the state is not only refusing to treat/pay,they want the child to die or they would not refuse to allow the parents to take the kid out of the country–

Cost/benefit analysis, that is how the Brits -and most other nations as well- maintain their healthcare systems at a much lower cost than ours.

They can’t afford to let that be challenged, no matter the outcome it is necessary to prevent any threat to their well defined system they or it will end up turning into something as costly as ours as the threat takes hold and grows.

Sure, but does it matter? No knowledgeable person holds up the UK health system as a model for anyone else. Same for Canada. The “universal” systems that actually work tolerably well are found in the German-speaking and Nordic countries. The UK system is a known train wreck, and controlling costs is not enough if the quality of care is worthless.

But maybe there really aren’t that many people that are “knowledgeable”.

Most Brits and Canadians love their systems and defend them with vigor if anyone suggests they aren’t really all that good.

BTW, the German speaking Nordic countries are starting to have problems with their systems as the current Muslim invasion progresses and has the non productive starting to replace the productive.

“BTW, the German speaking Nordic countries are starting to have problems with their systems as the current Muslim invasion progresses and has the non productive starting to replace the productive.”

Yes indeed, but their systems worked somewhat decently when the countries were still >99% white, which is more than can be said of the UK and Canada systems.

the german system rations or delays care unless you have the cash or a private supplemental policy to go to the head of the line–

“A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry; but money answereth all things”
To my recollection, Jesus Christ openly displayed anger one time; when He overthrew the tables of the money changers in the temple, and scourged them. Perhaps, it is far past time to emulate His actions !? Since it seems impossible for the souls on this earth to collectively come together, dropping to their knees in repentance for our rebellious actions, maybe overthrowing the ‘money changers’ of today would grant us a reprieve of when He returns in full display of His wrath?

How can any earthly government afford to spend the resources on just one little fella, when they need to spend billions, if not trillions, on the machinery of war designed to destroy millions of lives around the globe? It is what is demanded by the luciferian masonic bankers and government leaders around the world !

I had to give CCRider an upvote for the “Here’s the point: citizenship means servitude” comment. Someone tell me how this does not apply to the Masonic nation of America in spades !

During a discussion with a doctor about pros and cons of socialized medicine. He blathered on about the “glorious benefits of government provided healthcare, and the magnificent cost savings realized by not attempting to save all patients, especially the sickest.” When I asked him “who will play God and decide who gets to live and who gets to die? He replied without missing a beat… “I do.”
No thanks!
