Why I asked the question.
I met with a friend this weekend, a person I rarely see anymore. Let’s call him SHTF —- Stucky’s Handsomer Taller Friend. Yeah, he’s the only person in high school who was taller than me. He really wasn’t handsomer, but I’m trying to schoomze him right now.
Let me tell you a bit about SHTF; he graduated 15th out of somewhere around 420+, got over 60 scholarship offers (including the Air Force Academy), and played professional basketball overseas. Yeah, not only is he tall and good looking, he’s also very very smart and athletic (even to this day). In other words, in a Superman World he would be the Bizzarro Stucky.
He would be a helluva good commentor.
He also lives in Europe in a country that sounds like “Herman Knee”. The reason for all the “mystery” descriptions is because IF he does decide to comment here … then how much personal info he decides to reveal is up to him.
I don’t think he’ll like our views here whatsoever!! Really. And this is all the more reason I want him here. To debate. To give alternate viewpoints, so we don’t just echo our own views across this beloved Canyon. For example, we talked a little about politics over a steak dinner (which he graciously paid for).
—-1) He’s not a Trump fan. In fact, he can’t believe Americans voted for him. He strongly wondered “why??” …. including the possibility of mental derangement. lol
—-2) Except for the immigration issue, he thinks Angela Merkel is doing a better than average job.
We didn’t discuss any other politics.
He’s a really nice guy. Maybe too nice. I’m not sure he can handle the shit flinging and insults that we all treasure so much. I think he’ll perceive our views on kneegrows and mooslims as racist. Yet, living in a politically correct world of Herman Knee … maybe he’s just dying to let his inner wolf rage at the sun, howl at the moon, and slay the gestapo goons holding him down?? We will see …
Now, I could have spent time and given him all this info myself. But, I am just one voice in the wilderness trying to sell a mark a new car. There is strength in numbers. Besides, I (we) can use this thread as a “TBP OVERVIEW” for your friends, and other newbies.

Opposing points of view are good, but most can’t handle the foot on the throat, i.e., they can’t handle obvious Facts that obviate their ideology. Example:

What good is that when your throat is cut or your daughter has been groomed. Priorities are very important.

Personally HR, I prefer to isolate myself from inbred yokels as much as possible, as I find their wandering and/or crossed eyes disconcerting. I also don’t like them in my home because their club feet and spinal curvatures cause them to stumble into my furniture and I’m worried about liability issues.
I much prefer to associate with the slack-jawed variety of yokels. I find them interesting and personally engaging, what with all the drooling, and the blank staring, and the banjo playing. To each his own in any case, because diversity is our strength.
TBP is where people come to think. They may not agree with a given post, or appreciate having their own favorite programs / politicians / ideals cut to ribbons and stomped on (verbally, of course) but they are required to think – to defend their prejudices, explain their idiocies and justify their hatreds. And if they change their minds, fine – you SHOULD change your mind if demonstrable / documented truth shows reality is not what you thought it was. If they do not change their minds, then maybe they were right to begin with, and they can move on to the next post with heightened resolve for having understood their own positions a little better from the defense.
Or they could just stick their fingers in their ears, mumble “nana-nana-boo-boo, I can’t hear you” and leave the frustrated ideologues they were to begin with. It’s up to the individual.
There is no way this budding bromance is going to work out. There will be a flurry of letters filled with gushing admiration, yearning, pleading, hope, disillusion, begging, suicidal thoughts, weeping on the couch, numbness, zombie-like catatonic state and eventually resignation and acceptance. I have a new pair of does I see each morning when I let chickens out. There is a fawn with them, out of sight. This morning I positioned myself in such a way as to see where they entered the pasture and discovered the little brushpile where the fawn, now named “Sausage” for no reason except it’s cute, gets settled until Mom and older sister (probably last year’s fawn) graze a bit and make sure it’s safe.
We ran out of sausage early last year. I told my cousin we need to take a young one just to make sausage, but it won’t be from that spot. I could probably go down there in the morning and take the young doe if I wanted, but that is just not right. If my cousin brings her bow this fall and takes down either of the young ones in a fair hunt, then we make sausage.

Here is your answer to your perhaps rhetorical question: Catholics think Christianity is only them, protestants are heretics otherwise they would have stayed in the church. He still can not find me any historical evidence of Jesus during the most documented era in the roman empire (outside of the new testament). I like to dig at him. ( Catholics are just better at it having a culture of that for a lot longer time), He even has said that it is not technically pedophilia if the children have entered puberty. That is why Catholics are such strong believers, they believe in their religion no matter how much bad is brought out about the people running the show …until they leave. But than I had a roommate that gave half his pay to the Baptist church he belonged to as the pastor was leader of the flock and deserved the brand new Nissan 380ZX that he drove. All religions will defend their own via each individual in that religion until that person leaves. People leaving the church is why the Catholics have really decided not to win back Europe and North America but set their sights on Africa. Demography it is where they puts their bets.

It has been hard for me to convince any of them to post.I don’t know why that is.They are a great bunch of pro America,pro American guys as you can get. Many times I have watched a newbie wander on to the Platform and attempt to articulate a disagreement with Admin or a Regular, and just get reamed. Often it is because they have no knowledge of the personalities, culture, or nuances at play around here, and then they are never heard from again. I would advise your buddy to spend some time just reading the articles and responses before attempting to interject an opinion, if he is of a mind to do so. Unless a person is fairly intuitive, this place will be a real challenge. I agree with others that progressive types would find this site repugnant and their love for the brotherhood of man seriously disputed.

Ich komme ganz gerne hierher, um mal über den Tellerrand zu gucken, und manchmal diskutiere ich auch mit den Leuten, aber selten, da ich zu US-Themen ja nicht soo viel qualifiziertes zu sagen habe. Das angenehme hier ist: wenn es mal zu Diskussionen zwischen Teilnehmern mit krass unterschiedlicher Meinung kommt, dann wird schon mal ein wenig gerempelt, aber eben nicht gepöbelt, zensiert, denunziert, diffamiert und ausgegrenzt, wie es in den typischen deutschen Foren gang und gäbe ist.
Das ist hier mehr auf eine freundliche, US-amerikanische “If you are so smart, how come you ain’t rich?”-Weise. Schwer zu beschreiben. Die Teilnehmer nehmen die Themen und ihre jeweiligen Meinungen scheinbar nicht SO wichtig, und sind deshalb auch nicht sofort zu Tode beleidigt oder empört, wenn sie mit einer anderen Meinung konfrontiert werden.
Kurz: hören Sie auf Ihren alten Kumpel Stucky und probieren Sie es einfach mal aus 🙂

Dear SHTF:
In the very short email I sent to you I mentioned that I very rarely check my email. I mentioned that a better way to communicate (we’d have more to talk about than just the past) is to check out The Burning Platform. I sent you the link to this post. I hope you took the time to read it. Let me add my own reasons (some of it already mentioned by others) why I think this is a great place;
1)- There is virtually NO censorship. In the ten or so years I’ve commented here I can think of no more than 4 or 5 people who have been banned … and even they were given multiple warnings over an extended period of time to change their evil ways. (We do not allow the posting of nipples or the sexual organs of the three genders).
2)- There is COMPLETE ANONYMITY. No log-in, registrations, or any of that crap is required.
3)- The breath of topics is extremely extensive. Most articles do revolve around political and financial topics. However, these are generously supplemented with articles about religion, cultural issues, cooking, prepping, music, home improvement, … you name it. Sooner or later there’s something here for everyone. Some asshole once even wrote about guys fucking horses. Really.
4)- We have some of the smartest readers and writers here that I’ve seen anywhere. For example, we have a farmer from New Hampshire (a farmer!) who writes in the most beautiful prose you can imagine about life on the farm and about lessons about life the farm taught him. We have doctors, engineers, biologists, and even a truck driver. We have atheists, Bible Thumpers, agnostics, and even one dude who worships Odin. People come from all over the world … as far flung as Australia, and even Canada (the Odin Worshipper).
5)- You asked how American could have voted in Trump. Read here, and you’ll understand far far better than any biased bullshit you’ll read in the mainstream media in your country, or here in the USA. Is TBP a true cross section of America? Unfortunately, no. We do have liberals that comment here but, they never stay very long because just like cockroaches, they scatter when confronted with the Light of Truth. (Nevertheless, we have at least one reader here who thinks Tesla is a grrrreat car, and that electric cars basically run on free energy.)
What you WILL get is a cross-section of Americans who did vote for Trump and why multiple millions of Americans are fed up with the bullshit known as American Politics. We are not Democrats. We are not Republicans. We might be Libertarians, but even that would be rejected by many. The best label I can put on it is that we are Independent Thinkers. Most of us here Question Everything, and we’re NOT happy with what we see. If there is to be a Second American Revolution, it will be comprised of the type of people you’ll find here on The Burning Platform. You have the opportunity for front row tickets.
Some people spend a few hours a day here. Some only a few minutes. So, “not having enough time” is hardly a decent excuse. Well, that’s it. That’s my best shot. I hope to see you here from time to time. If not, go to hell. (Just kidding!)

To be perfectly honest, while I certainly enjoy a good debate, I find that the manner in which issues are addressed and the crude language that is oftentimes used is not for me. In fact, my first impresssion is that this is primarily a discussion site for people who support Trump and all that for which he stands for. And to be even more honest, I do not wish to stoop down to the “Trump level” in any facet of my life.
Nick, I realize that this is not what you were hoping to hear but that’s simply the way I see it.
