Seven states in the U.S. this past Tuesday held their primaries for the midterm elections. There were some major upsets, like in the case of Joe Crowley who, after serving in Congress for 20 years, lost the Democratic primary to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old former Bernie Sanders organizer. Crowley was slated to move up in the ranks of party leadership before this unexpected upset.

Despite, his long tenure in Congress, the longest serving U.S. representative Don Young (R-AL) has been working from the Capitol for 45 years, over twice as long as Crowley’s 20-year tenure.

Both parties are at major turning points in their political history, resulting from years of fissures in a highly politicized national environment. There are some representatives who have weathered the many partisan waves of the past couple of decades. Who are some of the other longest serving representatives currently in the House?

When I see that list of those self-serving scum and their time spent I need to puke. Firstly, their should no such animal as a politico because their should be no such entity as gov. But if we are stuck with gov because so many believe its needed, then at the very least we limit these creeps to say, 4 years max. Then out to pasture, no bennies whatsoever. You are on your own. Go get a job ass hole.

I would like to see a graph on each of them showing their individual net worth over the course of their 30+ years in CONgress. How do they go to be a public ‘servant’ and end up MULTI-millionaires?

Great graph. Everyone of them needs to be arrested for what they have done to this country.

Debbie Dingle, to Repugnants, in her criticism of not voting on a measure she advocated: “Strap on a set.”
Now, imagine the uproar, if a male said something similar to female politicians.
Hypocrisy and double standard PC, along with a career political family, who supposedly represents the working class. Get a real job, and not as a lobbyists, either. Term limits and no bennies. Same healthcare as Joe six pack. Cease the pay to play corruption.

Those who believe that term limits will “fix” the problems, clearly have not seen how the two major parties operate at the local, district, and state level when it comes to candidate endorsements or support in elections. These pieces of shit didn’t rise to the top and get the nomination of their party the first time around because they were noble, honorable, or anything of the sort. They were exactly the kind of garbage both major party power brokers love to support and are TOLD to support. The garbage that will rise to the top when these assholes are removed by term limits will be more of the same. Anyone who followed the inside story of what happened to Santorum, Paul, and the other contenders who ran against McCain and Romney already knows what I am talking about.

A lottery system would be a far better approach to selecting members of Congress, but massively increasing the numbers in the US House to reach the level of “representation” we had when this country began (1 for every 25,000 – 30,000 citizens versus the current 1 for every 750,000 to nearly 1,000,000) would be another great step. Restoring sovereignty to the 50 states and dissolving the federal government entirely would be an even better move….but I digress.

A shame our founding fathers didn’t write term limitations into the Constitution.

They thought that since everyone who would get elected owned their own business (as did virtually everyone) and would not wish to be away for long periods, that would be enough of a gate. Also, the travel time involved would further weaken their resolve to become permanent fixtures.

Benjamin Rush, the first Surgeon General, also believed that “medical freedom” should be put into the Constitution. His idea was rejected…..and look at that result.

Some of you may remember that one of Trump’s campaign planks early on was Term Limits…..
