When they made landfall, Katrina was a Cat 3 and Sandy was a Cat 1.
Size matters.
I hope this isn’t the start of the WEATHERTAINMENT season.

The weather report this morning said the biggest concern isn’t the wind, but the rain. Hawaii’s mountains will wring a lot of precipitation out of the clouds and total rainfall depending on the area is expected to vary between 6 inches to 24 inches. Flooding and landslides are likely. As well, it’s a slow-moving system so the deluge will last a long time.
Stay safe, Hawaii!

Can only wish ’em well from afar.
So, here’s hoping a few fine grass skirts show their big kahuna menfolk some affection, in the CBTS. See, cuz future lovin guaranteed to no one.

Was on Maui a number of years ago when a strong, low-pressure system hit us with 1-2 inches of rain. You would think no big deal but because it rains up high on the volcanoes, it comes rushing down toward the ocean. 1-2 inches of rain washed out roads, beaches, and knocked out power spoiling all food. The ocean looked like chocolate milk from the runoff. Very bad situation.
If they get 10+ inches of rain, it will be catastrophic.
