Hearts of Olden Glory

I used to subscribe to the notion of America as an idea rather than a distinct place founded by a distinct people. In the long days of my political and racial innocence, I believed that all people were capable of governing themselves and that ordered liberty was accessible to any nation or people willing to grasp the concept. Civility in both public and private discourse was the usual state of the nation and of my working and social life. I was a happy white man who lived, worked, and played around other, mostly happy, white men and women and that was good enough for me. I rarely spent any time pondering the grievances of others because I did not have any of my own.

That naïve world-view did not survive close contact with reality.

The change came rather dramatically as my own life devolved into alcohol addiction and homelessness. At my bottom, I spent some time among the denizens of the American underclass, an experience about which I have written here on TBP. That particular experience taught me many things, among them was the realization that the non-white poor (in my case, the Native American poor) really, really hate white people. The fact that modern day whites have absolutely nothing to do with the perceived injustices of their past does not dent the victim armor that the perennially downtrodden wear like a perverse badge of honor.

It is far easier to wallow in self-pity and blame others for one’s predicament rather than face the fact that we are, all too often, our own worst enemies. White racism is always a convenient scapegoat for the inability of non-whites to thrive and prosper. Never mind that plenty of whites have suffered historical injustice at the hands of other whites without winding up mired in the swamp of historical grievance. When was the last time you heard an Irishman demand reparations for the potato famine, or a Scotsman whine about how he just cannot make it in this racist world because, during the Highland Clearances, his ancestors were forced off the land at bayonet point?

I know now that rational self-governance and a civil society based on personal liberty protected by the rule of law was, and remains, the product of a particular people. White people of European stock seem, in retrospect, to be the only race of humans remotely capable of producing a society and culture that allows for the maximum amount of individual freedom within the necessary boundaries required for a civil society and a spiritually and morally healthy culture.

I write in the past tense, as it seems we are now on a downward arc of our racial history and such ideals and the institutions that give them physical form are under sustained attack by backward and violent peoples all over the globe. The drumbeat of racial grievance has never been louder. Whites are browbeaten relentlessly about their “white privilege,” that particular philosophical abomination being a useful cudgel with which to beat any successful white person. Offered up as an excuse for everything from economic failure and family breakdown to rioting and random violence, past injustice (real or imagined) offers an easy out from personal responsibility.

The present degraded state of the American nation is the result of normalizing a truly stunning array of previously proscribed behaviors. While the general level of progressive deviancy disguised as liberalism bears a large part of the blame, several racial factors are at play as well. The civility of our society and the moral and spiritual health of our culture have decreased in proportion to the increased influx of non-white people, the growth of virulent bigotry among much of the black population, the rampant self-loathing afflicting white political and cultural leadership, and the willful ignorance and ovine behavior of large swathes of the white population.

Of particular note is the noxious desire of elite whites to grovel at the feet of savages in a pathetic attempt to inoculate themselves against their own “whiteness.” Like some sort of perverse “Light Brigade,” they seem hell-bent on leading the charge into the valley of their own extinction. Such self-destructive behavior might seem like a kind of irrational altruism or a supposedly necessary racial mea culpa. In fact, it is rooted in a form of ignorant self-loathing alien to me and anathema to every thinking white person with any depth of historical understanding.

The now blatantly obvious anti-white rhetoric and sentiment (by both non-whites, and white elites) will devolve into an attempt to physically destroy the white race, either through naked violence, or through the more peaceful, though no less destructive process of miscegenation. One need only look to South Africa to see the genocidal trajectory of the first method. Likewise, anyone paying attention to American entertainment media can easily see the second method unfolding in an obviously deliberate and calculated fashion. Whether by the bullet or the bedroom, the goal is the same. We are marked for destruction by violence or deconstruction by dilution. Either way, the end is the same if we allow our future to be dictated by those who hate us.

I wonder whether present day whites have the courage and desire to reach into the past to retrieve and restore the martial ardor that will be required of us in the dark days to come. If our people are to survive, we must remember our history. We must be reminded of who we are, where we come from, and what we have accomplished.

The warrior ethos of the heroes of our past must live again in the hearts and minds of our people. “Hearts of Olden Glory” must beat once again in the white breasts. The old stories must be retold and self-loathing must be made to surrender its hold over our leaders and those who have influence on the greater white culture. It is not racist to love one’s own people above all others, and that love must no longer apologize for its existence. Perversely, it seems as though we will be forced to express that love in violent self-defense against those who would see us erased. If that is the case, so be it.

Few peoples in human history have shown themselves more capable of organized violence than has the white race. Too often, we have exercised that capacity in fratricidal war against each other. In fact, the case can be made that the destruction and exhaustion of so-called “brother wars” has enervated the white race to a dangerous degree and has brought us to this historical/racial inflection point.

Our warlike nature now finds expression only in futile attempts to bring “democracy” to alien peoples who have no history of it, no desire to experience it, and no capacity to sustain it. Our capacity for violence must no longer be turned inward either upon our brothers, or outward in vain attempts to bring liberty to those not capable of understanding or maintaining it. Instead, it must become a shield wall for our own people, a bulwark against those who mistake the living concept of white racial identity for the long-dead boogieman of “white supremacy.”

The white race is being swamped by demographics all over the world. Unless we rediscover our unique worth as the founders and guardians of Western Civilization and act accordingly, we will be drowned in a sea of political tyranny, racial hatred, and relentless violence. This century will see either our rebirth or our last stand as a distinct people

If you are a white man, look into the eyes of your children and grandchildren before you decide where and how, or even if, you will stand. After all, you are deciding for them.
