Also scary! The movie “Jaws,” which came out when I was in the 8th grade, ruined the ocean for me. Won’t go in the water past my calves now.

I had the pleasure of a similar encounter while Boogie boarding off Newport Beach while in college. A bit scary at first until you realize that the dorsal fin belongs to a dolphin and not a shark. At “the wedge,” at the end of the Newport Beach peninsula, the dolphins will come to ride the big waves that break right by the beach. They shoot sideways down and inside the curling wave so its easy to see them from shore. Wonderful creatures.

That’d be Balboa not Newport. Boogie boarding, that’s funny, we call you dick draggers.

You’re right. Been 35 years since that time, forgot what it was called. Hey, I was in the ocean every day I lived there and was in the best shape physically and emotionally of my life. Call it whatever you want.

Water born version of smart animals, when they see humans moving fast on common ground, they wanna run and play, too.
Like a couple of huskies running with their jogging master.

Leave the online world for a few hours.

Get out in nature, and play, get fresh air, exercise, and behold the wonder around us.

How’s that one line go, in
Desiderata?

For all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it’s still a beautiful world (at times).

Focus on things positive more often. Will do your psyche some good.

Should probably find that, and post it verbatim on the platform some time.
Had it almost memorized years ago, when in the thralls of trying to find good guideposts for successful living. Still am.

“Go, placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace may be found in silence…”

“Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.””

“…as far as possible, be on good terms with all persons; even the dull and the ignorant, for they, too, have their story”

It’s chock full of good advice and one liners.

Cowabunga!

Rather than waste time trying to decypher Ebonics and the like, Humans should attempt to fully communicate with these magnificent sentient beings. They have so very much to tell us.

(As in people fucking suck for all the disgusting pollution, garbage, plastic waste and depth charges among other discontents of the Deep Briny Blue.)

And yet they still want to go surfing with us. Go figure.

Is it true that if dolphins are around, you don’t have to worry about sharks? If so, and I was a surfer, I’d put one on a leash attached to my surfboard. 🙂
