I’ve toyed w/ some 2×4 studs and paneling recently.
Used to use Phillips coarse thread screws.
But, the screws that use the square head bit driver are good. Damn good.
Them’s the cat’s meow.

I hear you RINS. I had to put down my nearly two decade old hyperthyroid cat just before Christmas. In his heyday, he was 25+ pounds but at the end he was barely 8…he was always a big cat and at the end was a shadow of his former self. It is what it is indeed. 🙁

I really liked that cat. Mine was about 17 but like yours Cricket by the end he had withered to nothing. The thing about cats is they know when it is time
Still sad losing a friend.

Anyways folks for the thoughts and concerns…
cheers

I knew it was his time. It did not make it any easier, but I knew what had to be done none the less.

We donated his remaining vet prescribed food and other posessions to a local charity. I bawled like the girl I am when it was time to pass his things along. He was a good kitty.

I can’t imagine what those who lose dogs go through. A cat will tolerate you if they decide you’re OK…a dog loves you even if you beat it…I can’t get my head around that.

I lost a cat last weekend. I wrote about it in my journal.

Purrfect Emotive Reconciliation
Proximate Catharsis
Floral Feline Funeral

Catkin Obituary:

Kinky, named for what the vet says is a common congenital defect in cats, had a kink – two inches from the tip of his tabby tail.

He was the weaker brother, born of a local feral cat who traipsed her brood along Bay Street looking for food. She dropped two off at my house for food and two even weaker kittens at the house under construction; two hundred feet away, across two vacant wooded lots.

Kinky was a low profile cat on the tin roof’d home we shared. His older brother outweighed him by a pound or two and exerted dominance routinely. Until years later, the construction house was lived in and had a serious house fire. Uninhabitable. So their outside cat, Dash, adopted me. It was a happy family for a while. Kinky hid from everything. Not so submissive the dominant brother (both neutered) was eventually evicted by Dash, and was never seen again. I did see his doppelgänger in the next neighborhood over later on.

So Kinky survived by being second fiddle. And was a great hunter, killer of many rats, snakes and lizards. And a few birds too. I watched the feral raised kitten eat whole rats (cotton mice), snakes and lizards as an adult. He even had a taste for moths flying around the porch light.

He looked good in death. I had noticed he had not been eating as much lately. His food bowl would go unemptied. He was not what I would call sick looking nor emaciated at all. He was affectionate and trusting of me to the end, coming to me on my balcony, in my garage, looking for foot play from me and even submitting to my hand petting and neck rubs; but only when Dash was not around.

He was found under the steps leading up to the deck, next to the water bowl – where it was his custom to nap in the afternoon sun.

My son dug a deep hole in our pet cemetery. His wife, first grade son, his 3.5 year old daughter and 9 pound terrier Roxy said their goodbyes. Dash was indifferent. We closed the cardboard coffin box containing yellow hibiscus blossoms from the yard that matched his tawny color and placed him in the ground. I gave a brief eulogy and wiped tears as I shared his story to the children. I told them Kiki would live on in their memories and mine. Naturally curious, when I watched the three year old on MLK day, she wanted to dig up Kiki to see how he looked…

found online:
THE PRAYER OF THE CAT
Oh my master, do not take me for a slave, for I have in me a taste for liberty:
Do not seek to divine my secrets, for I have in me a taste for mystery;
Do not constrain me with caresses, for I have in me a taste for modesty,
Do not humiliate me, for I have in me a taste for pride,
Do not abandon me, for I have in me a taste for fidelity,
Love me and I will love thee, for I have in me a taste for friendship.

I did read it anon and thought it was great. Funny thing is our cat was stray. Picked up on snowbank on the side the road at busy highway interchange. Probably used up 8 of his nine lives just getting to that snowbank..

Anyways thanks for putting that here Suzie!
Right to the end he was a pretty happy cat. Anyhow..

That picture above was a couple days before he was put down.
We had to because like that cat in piece above he just quit eating.

My cat had decided it was time to book it and I just couldn’t let him suffer..

Gawd, that little video is hilarious! Reminds me of the time my clueless cousin brought her obnoxious little mutt to my house and my 17 year old, toothless black cat went ape shit on it. Her mutt eventually died, and she got another one that’s even worse.

Okay I’ll take the bait. Open season on 9/11. I say it was Cheney’s operation, what say you? He had an office at EACH of the big agencies. And funny how he was in the WH that morning and “W” was reading My Pet Goat.

I’ll try to help. Up far too early to stay up but not able to stop being worried about new goats in the shed in the pouring rain. I saw your reference to “Goat” while scrolling through this thread (I’ve never recovered from losing the JDAWG almost two years ago, coincidentally, in the pouring rain.) So, to try to give the thread a “for example” and off the sad topic of lost pets and lost friendships (that dog took a piece of my soul with him and left me a piece of his) I hope I can get a nice little shitfest started about 9/11. If this effort doesn’t work, there is always the view of flat earth from the moon discussion.

We could just turn this on and let it loop for a while, as well. But, I’ll pick up the topic below, if you care to try to make the average tbp comment stream less maudlin.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=kTcRRaXV-fg

I just happened to see the Secretary of Defense walking across a flightline in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, longagofaraway after Desert Storm. He was a very important part of both Bush administrations and the beginning of the end of this mess in the middle east. I was a radar tech who’d forgotten something or another on the jet and had to run back out to get it and saw a small cadre of people being ushered from one of those little Learjets that ferry important people around here there and also over there. I think it was Cheney and a few other important persons but I was just a young sergeant looking at the world through blindfolded eyes.

Yes, Cheney was definitely a take charge sort of person. If it was an “operation” I would place my bet of Cheney with some assist from the mayor’s office. Wasn’t there a visit to WTC 7 earlier in the morning by Giuliani? Some sort of entourage that walked there that morning to pick something up? Or drop something off?

And, while a lot of people wonder why Bush continued to read to those kids after told the news in the classroom, it was always obvious to me. To find out what happened.

Well, duh! He was probably at a cliffhanger in the story.

So, if that doesn’t help exemplify what a tbp comment stream might become, blame it on the moon.
