I had a dream last night I was piloting a plane
And all the passengers were drunk and insane
I crash landed in a Louisiana swamp
Shot up a horde of zombies, but I come out on top
What’s it all about? Guess it just reflects my mood
Sitting in the dirt; Feeling kind of hurt
When all I hear is doom and gloom
With all this darkness in my room
Through that light, your face, I see
Baby, take a chance
Baby, won’t you dance with me?
We lost all that treasure in an overseas war
Just goes to show you don’t get what you paid for
Bowing to the rich and you worry ’bout the poor
Put my feet up on the couch and lock all the doors
What’s that funky noise? It’s the tightening of their screws
Sitting in the dirt; Feeling kind of hurt
All I hear is doom and gloom
But when those drums go
Boom, boom, boom
Through that night, your face, I see
Baby, take a chance
Baby, won’t you dance with me?
Yeah, baby, won’t you dance with me?
Ah, yeah
Fracking deep for oil
But there’s nothing in the sump
There’s kids all picking at the garbage dump
I’m running out of water, so I better prime the pump
I’m trying to stay sober, but I end up drunk
We’ll be eating dirt
Living on the side of the road
There’s some food for thought
Gonna make your head explode
Feeling kind of hurt, yeah
But all I hear is doom and gloom
With all this darkness in my room
Through that night, your face I see
Baby, take a chance
Baby, won’t you dance with me?
Yeah, come on; Baby won’t you dance with me?
I’m feeling kind of hurt; Baby, won’t you dance with me?
Oh yeah, sitting in the dirt; Baby, won’t you dance with me?
Hey! A little Nirvana should cheer us all up!
HaHaHa! Wait…….What day is it?
Good one…
I’ve submitted a Lawyers vs The Rule of Law
I don’t know if Admin will post it or not, but I’m all fired up over a county clerk in Missouri refusing to answer questions about a statute on the books unless I’m an attorney. Doesn’t matter if I have the statute in hand.

Bastiat said it wouldn’t last.
Maggie- I almost wished you “Happy Wednesday” yesterday. I decided not to get you stirred up since you nudged a third friend in my column. 🙂
“Computer modeling of a large-scale scene such as a city becomes an important topic for computer vision and computer graphics research areas etc. Image-based rendering (IBR) is an effective method for expressing realistic scene, and can construct any arbitrary viewpoint by using the captured real images. However, the large size of the image database in IBR causes serious problems in actual applications, leading to the use of compression techniques. We propose a compression technique based on eigen space combined with a block matching technique to get better result. We also propose a technique to restore the compressed data on Graphic Processing Unit (GPU), allowing us to perform high-speed rendering without raising the load on the CPU.”

Had to jump in
Posted five years ago. Will it be another five???
I was not a big Nirvana fan, that they did play a lot of angry stuff. What was that all about? I kind of missed it because I was watching a lot of Disney movies and playing Math Blaster with a weird little kid in the 90s.
I LOVE angry rock n roll.
“Doom with a Side of Gloom”
and panic for dessert.
oh, and a discount coupon for the next serving of doom.
The Who took 7 years off after this:
Sometimes, you just gotta be sad.
At least you have finally unmasked yourself as a neo-Nazi, KaD. I always wondered about your wellspring of hatred. The question is, why here, why not on a serious article?
I think it was a Mercy Fuque… LOL
Or a Pity Comment.
Did Y2K actually happen in slow motion? Have we been collapsing since then?
I wonder if the actual concerns about the end have indeed stepped up since 2000. Was that the year of the hanging chads? When the SCOTUS determined the US election?
Are we now overly concerned with the coming collapse, fixated on when instead of trying to make it stop collapsing? We seem to be negotiating a way to survive a catastrophic future instead of demanding the politicians halt the catastrophe, which is of theirs and bankers making, without doubt.
Famine, war and disease are not Malthus and Ricardo’s tired formula: They are the only recipe for complete and total annihilation; it is written. I think Faulkner thought very highly of himself:
In April 1947 William Faulkner was invited to visit the University of Mississippi. While conducting a question-and-answer session in a creative writing class, Faulkner was asked to name “the five most important contemporary writers.”
The image of Cassandra crawling onto a limb declaring contagion and chaos upon the land is vivid and I can imagine here sitting there swinging her legs as she proclaims to passersby when and how they will procure the virus unless they lock themselves away, isolated and imprisoned.
Were the original concerns of our country’s founding really based on God’s principles? We know the Puritans had devout beliefs and strict, even puritanical, guidelines for social behavior. But, was that actually proof that their concerns were salvation and not just preservation of their own control? We know that the various colonies were formed as different religious sects claimed new regions to practice their beliefs and organize their communities in ways that sustained and promoted their beliefs. But, at what point did those communal practices become regulatory in nature? How can any society regulate how people think about each other?
Words are sounds. When a tree crashes in the forest, can we sue it for offending our ears when we stand nearby? Or should we have moved when we saw it was falling? Let those who have ears hear what they must hear and simply turn away from the things they don’t want to hear.
We all have “something.” Perhaps, there are ancestors in your line who were slaves, so you will take umbrage when slavery is mentioned and dismissed as inconsequential to your current station in life. We have friends who were raped, perhaps we know some poor child molested by family members or in an abusive situation that seems hopeless. We have friends and family who’ve died of drug overdose and suicide and we’ve seen that that does to the survivors of those deaths. And, in the end, it all boils down to one person’s point of view and whether that viewpoint can expand to accept that it is severely limited and, like Faulkner, be willing to at least suggest one person might know more than they.
There are several categories of Doom and Gloom, but War, Famine and Disease are a common theme, aren’t they? There is also one called Deception, but I’m not sure where it fits into the picture.
