A collaboration of: “The Classic Music Mafia”
SMC, nkit, Austrian Peter, and Steve C.
Every Sunday morning we present selections for our TBP family to enjoy.
We present symphonies, ensembles, quartets, octets, etc.
Not all of our music is strictly ‘classical’. We may stray a little, but we strive to make all of our selections ‘classy’.
We offer tips on proper ‘symphony etiquette’ and even some selections that are a bit light-hearted and fun aimed at a younger audience. Those pieces will be so designated, and might be a good way to introduce kids to a world of music that they might not have been exposed to or think of as old and ‘stuffy’.
A full symphony will run as long as it will. We don’t want to cut a symphony short. However, we also include some shorter pieces that we try to keep under fifteen minutes in length. You can sample each and hopefully find one or more that pleases you.
We hope that you enjoy our Sunday selections.

This One’s For The Kids
It is a clip from Holland’s Got Talent, back in 2013.
A young Amira Willighagen sings O Mio Babbino Caro to a skeptical judge panel, and their reaction, and the audience reaction gives me goosebumps and tears of joy & appreciation.
The vid posts English subtitles, but that enhances it, in my opinion.
Hope it is well received.
Cheers.
Play it for the kiddos…
Madame Butterfly
I present this knowing that the video does not concern itself with the orchestra. The orchestra is not the story. The story is the one-in-a-billion voice of Maria Callas.
So, recline, put you hands behind your head, and behold a voice unmatched, ever. The orchestra is top notch, but it is Maria’s voice that you will remember singing, Giacomo Puccini’s opera titled “Madame Butterfly.”

Next, I would like to offer a beautiful piece of music and add no comment.
You know it.
G.Ph. Telemann: Concerto in D major for Violin, Cello, Trumpet and Strings
Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody No.2
Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No.2, originally written for solo piano comes to much life in its orchestral version in this fiery performance by the Cologne New Philharmonic
Conducted by Volker Hartung.
Live at Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Germany in March 2012

The Classic Music Mafia – Adding some class to this joint one Sunday at a time.
Heaven help us…
SUPERB selections again Sir! Many large THANKS!
As we cannot know whether it takes you five minutes or five days to make these selections and load them up, it is most important to recognize the talent, knowledge, experience, wisdom and judgement to do it so well.
Going through the selections for today is especially pleasant with all the insanity running around the world.
I must repeat this again for emphasis:
“A man should hear a little beautiful music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day of his life, in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful which God has implanted in the human soul.”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Thanks ursel
Actually, it’s a lot of work.
For the full symphonies, I have to find what I’m looking for. They need to show the full orchestra playing.
Then I have to play all of the versions that I find to get the best one.
The shorts are a bit easier, but not much.
We all do our best.
Feel free to add any that you would like to see and hear. I will credit you for them.
Thanks for the effort. It is an excellent set and much appreciated!
Ditto, thanks for the effort, y’all.
