The riots in Portland have only inspired a new separation movement. The suburbs in Oregon are moving to separate and join Idaho after nearly two months of daily protests and rioting in Portland. Personally, my advice to Trump was straight forward. He should not send in troops to any city. Let the left throw out the police and allow the city to collapse into its own quagmire for only then will rational people rise up against the leftist agenda. There should be NO federal intervention. They have brought this upon themselves.
One of our staff members was sitting at an outside restaurant when a Black Lives Matter protest came marching down the street. In all the commotion, someone stole her purse. In California, a friend said he is leaving the state for the police were told to stand-down because they did not want any blacks shot by police. They allowed the stores to be looted and trashed, yet when others protest against the lockdowns, they are fined, beaten, and even arrested.
The Black Lives Matter movement has been used as cover by criminals because they have figured it out that the police will let them do whatever they want on the orders of the politicians. This has encouraged total anarchy. The entire abuse of police is the fault of the Supreme Court and any legitimate protest should be standing in front of that court. Protesting around the country will NEVER remove the abuse of immunity which was created out of thin air by the Supreme Court. They are responsible for all the deaths. Protest against the source, not the local police which will never change anything long-term. Meanwhile, the Black Lives Matter movement is in danger of becoming just perceived as a band of criminals if they allow their own movement to be used as a cover for this sort of behavior by criminals.
This new separatist movement will spread even more to Washington and California. The Oregan separatist movement collected enough signatures to place the initiative on the November ballot in Wallowa County. The governor has encouraged this movement with draconian lockdowns and support for the protestors at the beginning. This coming election will be the 9th for the leftist Democratic movement and our models are showing an extremely high probability of rising civil unrest in these three states as well as rising separatist movements. There is a change in the air politically coming for the West. The extreme left has simply gone too far. They champion illegal aliens who cannot vote and do not pay taxes. Why would a politician champion this element which is against their own people?

Black Lies Matter along with their Antifa, Maoist, Trotskyite, anarchist and jihadi allies should be perceived and declared the domestic terrorists that they are.
Trump was going to do just that last month. Guess he forgot of was told to stand down.

The “suburbs of Oregon” are NOT “moving to separate and join Idaho.” This is typically what happens when someone from the east coast like Armstrong writes about the West. They lack any comprehension of geography once they get 100 miles inland from the Atlantic.
The Greater Idaho Movement seeks to separate the liberal NW corner of Oregon from the more clear-thinking eastern and southern parts of the state. Portland (and its suburbs), Eugene, Salem, and Bend would be given to the Progressives as a reward for the fine work they are doing destroying those cities. The rest of the state, along with some of northern California and eastern Washington, would become part of Idaho.

Agreed. Eastern Oregon is in no way a suburb of anywhere. The differences between downtown Portland and, say, Pendleton are night and day. I’d like to see a BLM ‘protest’ at the Round Up. Not the same places.
Washington state is the same way. For the most part, Bellingham-Seattle-Tacoma and down to Olympia vote one way and the rest of the state votes the other.
Oregon is one of the few states already authorized by the U.S. Congress to subdivide itself. This was a condition of Oregon’s admittance to the union in 1859. Oregon has the option to split into 2 states; both new states would be represented in the US Senate.
FYI Texas is similar, already authorized to split into 5 new states.

Idaho has its own problems brewing with Boise starting to become a liberal outpost. Idaho needs to dilute that infection with the addition of more normal folks from eastern Oregon..
Boise, Moscow, and now CDA as it is slowly destroyed by various wealthy, west-coast, rich liberals that glom to the lake. Even Sand Point has been taken over by liberals, where the city has tried to ban guns in city limits. In Idaho. WTF?

I may have missed this conversation along the way, but how did Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon become the testing ground for Antifa/BLM antics? As a youngster, I remember those locations not only being quite lovely, but pretty innocuous. I hitchhiked throughout those States and was impressed by the beauty and calmness. Is it a tactical thing? China/Russia access? Navy ports?
NY and LA would have been an easy fit. The populations, demographics and crime factor are ripe for Antifa/BLM/Socialist/Communist revolution. Why are Seattle and Portland the hotbeds of this chaos and psychosis? And even though they turned blue over the years, that seems totally targeted and intentional too.

Not sure about Seattle, but Portland has been very liberal for a long time. It appears they have finally gone over the edge to full on progressivism.
The hippies of the 60’s have grandchildren who think communism is great. Now get back to work and pay your taxes so they can carry on.
While not a Native, I’ve been in and around metro Seattle since the late 1970s (currently >100 miles out, and still not really comfortable about it). I believe the great Northwest has suffered from a syndrome which afflicted much of the USA:

Trump should agree to pull all federal law enforcement out of cities that want them to leave. If the cities and states refuse to protect federal facilities Trump should shutter the buildings and move the federal employees to safe locations. Federal resources and services should be suspended until the states and localities agree to protect federal employees and property. Slow walk all federal business in those states except IRS activity.

Yup. Mt. is purple and Id probably because half the Republicans in both states are Blue Rhinos. In Jan. 96 Mt. had 2/3 of both houses and the Governors mansion and the first theing they did was sell us out. It’s been downhill since.
