American education, once a shining beacon, has now devolved into mass indoctrination and a mill of idiots.
Gone is any focus on math, science, history (reality as it is, not as some wish it to be), or grammar studies (we are now told our language is evil, rife with bad words and racist phrases. News flash: every language is. Look it up. Oh, wait, Johnny and Susie are basically illiterate).
Yesterday I had an conversation with a very dear long-time friend who used to be an Advanced Placement Biology teacher. He did not come to teaching via a “degree in education” (which is a silly thing. You basically don’t have to know shit about what you are teaching, only that you now are certified to teach it to others). He has an honest-to-god degree in Biology. And several certificates in toxicology, blood pathology, and chemistry. He has always been passionate about science. Loved every aspect of it. He has a methodical mind, driven by observation and patient lab work.
That was beaten down by years of public school bureaucracy. Where it mattered not that a student came woefully unprepared for class, and lacked even a smidgen of caring about the subject. Rather, it was his fault because his test were “too hard” or he assigned “too much homework”. Again…he taught ADVANCED PLACEMENT BIOLOGY. Which is supposed to be challenging.
Parents would loudly complain that Johnny or Susie had football, or jazz, or band, or cheering and so could not be expected to complete his assignments. Folks, this is a small, rural, central Massachusetts town. It did not serve as a feeder school for top-level college football recruits. No one in their band was going to Julliard on a scholarship for their amazing mastery of the clarinet. Cheering is not a career.
Cutting the sports budget in this school district triggered a massive outcry from parents. Asking them to make sure Johnny or Susie brought a damn pencil to class was like asking them to donate a kidney. It was never, ever their child’s fault that their homework went undone. No..somehow the teacher was to blame.
Children who came from a housing project in the same town were known to be raised by a grandmother or foster parent. These children were almost always given a free pass. They were on some kind of IEP. They got additional time for tests, homework, and could do whatever they wanted in class. Rather than work with them to instill a love of learning, they were taught to be victims who apparently could not excel in school.
Now we have teachers who think it’s unsafe to physically be in a school building, yet they want to be paid the exact same amount for a few hours of Zoom learning. Residents are told the school budget to heat, light, and maintain a cavernous suck-hole must be maintained for when they “re-evaluate” distance learning in November. Why November? We can all speculate, can’t we?
Money for busing that will never happen is still being appropriated.
Many who have read my comments on the coming housing apocalypse know my thoughts on what is going to happen. The bottom is going to fall out, and there will be no more taxes to pay for all this bullshit. Parents are going to have to get their heads out of their asses and pull together to make sure their kids learn.
So my friend and I said that what is probably going to happen is all the liberal teachers who want to work on their BLM signs and their marching will be gone, and the good teachers who still give a rat’s ass about teaching will be hired on privately by smaller groups to teach. There is just no other way this pans out. People are starting to see that these Zoom classes don’t work, especially for very young children who lack the discipline to sit in front of a screen and learn. Kids under 13 NEED peer interaction. They need to be with other kids. This is a fact of our biology, it cannot be undone because of a virus that affects primarily those over 70 or with pre-existing conditions. That is magical thinking on a grand scale.
What we are doing, besides ruining an entire economy, is dooming an entire generation to idiocy, idleness, and crime.
We are going backwards to when England and Europe allowed children to run wild in the street, unable to read, and only useful for the most menial of tasks, and most of them physically dangerous.
When those of us who can read, write, do math, and understand physics, biology, chemistry, die, which we all will eventually, then the world will devolve into merely survival.
Sure, the elites are still educating their offspring, but so what? When you have a handful of chiefs and the rest are illiterate people with zero idea of how to do anything, who is going to run anything?
If you cannot even read a book and retain the knowledge because you were not taught to have reading comprehension, when you are unable to extrapolate knowledge from situations around you, then this country is going to just fall completely into chaos.
We are not that far off folks. Believe it.

I’m a parent of three and all of them have gone through the public school system in rural NH.
They do not teach math, science, history or English. At all. If you do not teach these things to your children on your own time they will have no grasp of even the most basic functions of an adult by the time they graduate.
Schools serve a purpose- chiefly as a means for children to make friends within their own peer group in the local community and second as a means of helping them be prepared to live their adult lives surrounded by petty, small-minded bureaucrats and losers who make up the majority of the population. If we protected them until adulthood from this reality they would likely embrace it at the wrong time in their development (early adulthood; see the nationwide protest main demographic) where we would have less input and ability to show them how to navigate life in Post-Modern America.
Schools are a means for indoctrinating youth into a an institutional future and a globalist mindset as well as providing employment, benefits, retirement (not to mention a secure Democratic voting base) for those who would have little to offer on the open market.
That is my sense. And besides, even if they did get a good history teacher, that teacher would be teaching the establishment narrative. See Norman Dodd, the Reece Commission on tax-free foundations.
But my local district has a monopoly on “petty, small-minded bureaucrats and losers!” I don’t see how it’s possible any such people would be left-over for rural NH.

I have been working tech support at a major University for the past twenty years. I work with students, I work with staff, I work with management — you are 100% correct.
And yet you also pay horrifically-high property/school taxes for the privilege. How wonderful.
Indeed, no parent should ever allow their children out into the world without a daily “debriefing” to address all the bullshit they will encounter (regardless of what they are up to – private school, visiting friends, etc.).

Same here. My oldest never set foot in a public school including grad school, except to beat the shit out of whoever was unlucky enough to have to guard her in a basketball game. The others never did until college.
If they haven’t already, your kids will thank you. My parents sent me to a parochial school in a solid German neighborhood in NYC. I had a 12th grade reading and math level in 5th grade and so did just about everyone in my class. It was tough and extremely disciplined, but I learned and excelled.
I taught some electronics and computer courses at a community college some years ago, and just couldn’t believe how pathetic our educational system has become. No one will admit the lies that have been spread for the past 50 years or so regarding progressive education (or anything progressive for that matter). The fact is intellect follows the standard bell shaped curve distribution. There are a few with very high and a few with very low levels of intelligence, and the majority are distributed within the middle. Not everyone should go to college, but the system pushes for it because a huge number of people derive a good living wage by pretending to teach. It’s sickening to see how the faculty pat themselves on the back for all of the good they are doing, particularly for the ‘underprivileged’. We won’t get into the 6 digit salaries and 180 work days a year (some only teach one day a week) – and these are the people that claim that ‘capitalism’ has failed and support BLM and Antifa and want to dismantle our way of life and install a communist form of government.
The one satisfaction that I have is knowing that if they succeed, the very first ones that the communists exterminate once they get into power is the academicians.

only works when both parents work at it. Nothing too fancy
need be done. The challenge is math, science, and history and
above all, reading skills. Fortunately these can be integrated

Playing Devils Advocate:
Is it possible, that we as a society, have reached a technological inflection point where, shortly (if not now) it is possible for a single crazy asshole, with the right education and skill set and limted resources, to destroy the planet? It’s just another probability scenario – at some point, if education level keeps going up and hazards keep having more potential in smaller packages and availability increases with fewer resources….well, at some point, the single crazy asshole WILL surface and utilize a 10 gigaton nuke he made in his basement that fits in a gym bag (or something like that…).
Based on, for just one example, the availability of CRISPR to the general public, I would say the possibility (of a single crazy asshole destroying the planet) is actually a reality IF a single crazy asshole decides to.
IF this is accurate then is it possible that TPTB have decided, with what could be argued as “good reason” (not saying it is, but could be argued), to shut down the whole thing out of concern for planetary destruction potentially instigated by said single crazy asshole?
Not saying it’s right. Not saying States don’t have the same power (but even States don’t allow one asshole to fire off nukes/viruses planet wide…I think, anyway…or do they? China?). Simply asking aloud if there MIGHT be some sort of twisted logic to the intentionally imposed destruction of the education system.

We do home school our children, I have stated that numerous times. They have attended the public school not for the education but for the social lessons that can only come from having daily contact with other members of the community. I thought I had made that clear on more than one occasion.
How you use a tool is limited by your ability, not the tool itself. Public school has been a very effective tool for helping our children find good friends (a definite advantage) and learn how to operate around bureaucrat and petty tyrant types, another valuable lesson.

In my local high school in Oregon, there are several tracks. If you just want to sail through without learning much thats possible. There is a pretty good auto mechanics track for those who are interested in that, and then there is an AP track for serious students who want to pursue a stem field in college. The classes are challenging but if they start out on the right track as freshman they can complete the first year of college calculus, chem, physics, biology and a few other things before they graduate. It’s actually pretty good if you have a kid who wants to work and learn in high school. This is in a Portland suburb, majority white, plenty of asians and hispanics, but few blacks. Portland and the bigger more diverse suburbs not as good.
As far as the -public school system’ goes…. it’s too late! Good bye and good riddance!

One of my three boys lost six months of high school while recovering from a medical condition. He was given the teacher’s syllabus and six days to study for his junior year US history final. Six days to cram and pass six months of material he never saw. I personally tutored him and he passed with a B+.
I’ll give you one guess what I really think of union school teachers where I live. This was before PARCC testing, Common Core, and the LGBT°enerate programming got started in the NJ schools.
It was just as bad in the 1960s. In fact, Detroit’s Northeastern High School had a “black students union” that was successful in getting the American flag removed from the front of the school and replacing it with a “black nationalist” flag.
The ordeal that us white students had to go through was harrowing, to say the least. White students did not use the restrooms, as a “beatdown” by multiple blacks was usually the result. Us whites knew not to carry much money as one was likely to lose it to the black gangs.
Blacks never fought one-on-one, the “pack mentality” was evident then as is today. Robberies of white students by black gangs were a daily occurrence. Attempts to get redress from administrators was futile
Any attempts by whites to defend themselves was met with indifference and even outright hostility from school officials. You see, even then, blacks were not “responsible” for their behavior. If a white student fought against a black, the white student was considered to always be the cause and the blacks knew it.
Blacks did not want to learn, the same situation that still exists today. Even then, blacks were disruptive. Most of the teachers just shrugged their shoulders, let the disruptions go on until the next class period. It was easier for teachers to put up with the disruptions which were always instigated by black student behavior than to try to solve the problem. Black students who were “sent to the office” KNEW that the administration would do nothing to correct their normal behavior.
Most of the teachers were deferential to blacks, although there were a few good teachers who tried to carefully shield their white and asian students from predatory blacks, giving them additional attention and coursework, knowing that they could excel in spite of the, violent, raucous atmosphere.

I got 4 kids – scrub nirse, lawyer, farmer and sommelier. All went to college and I paid for all their schooling. All were home schooled in specific things when I saw what they were teaching as history back 20-odd years ago, and that they had discontinued Civics from the curricula. All worked and bought their first cars.
There is a LOT, a shitload, of blame to spread around as to why the black communities have these issues, but latino communities have similar issues – MS13 isn’t a black thing – in fact, they hate blacks as do most Latinos. I know, being bilingual and multi-racial.
Entire swaths of Latino thugs are all around every metro area. They are perhaps more vicious than what you see, as they tend to stab or shoot and scoot and not get caught. Their mothers coddle and hide them when they do bad – but nobody wants to talk about that. They are often abused, especially the girls, by their fathers.
Nobody chooses their parents, their birthplace or their skin color. These 3 things have a great deal to do with the growth into adulthood, with opportunities available and with work ethic.

It has been my experience, here and in Mexico, that Latino families (mothers, fathers aunts, uncles) absolutely dote on their children; they cherish, protect, and nurture their young more than most cultures. Children, although pampered, are raised to show respect for their elders. Latino children s are generally surrounded by positive, hard-working role models, male and female. They don’t blame every other melanin tint for their woes.
It’s been my experience, traveling among black cultures in the Caribbean and West Indies, and having lived in FLA, GA, MISS, AL, OK, TX, CA, MD, HI, OR & WA, that black children are largely feral and have no community except the crime-focused, ho-dominating conduits glorified by RAP. Their male role models are gangsters and few know their fathers. Ergo, a culture of “Who’s yo daddy?” and “Yo mamma so fat I hadta roll over four times to git offer.” They respect no person and nothing about the world they live in, regularly torch their government-provided communities for no good reason – then blame the ashes on everyone else and their great, great, grandparents.

I responded that as long as my state and federal taxes subsidize her failing school system I have plenty to say . Also no one forced you to participate in such dysfunctional employment . I was considering homeschooling my kids and then this Virus stuff comes along so now my kids stay home and learn. A lot less drama with Liberal teacher bullies and the thug culture. Fewer distractions. The local school might open but it’s doubtful. My town is crazy busy with tourists right now.
Our school board decided to split the kids up into two alternating groups attending three shortened days per week to reduce room occupancy. The distancing and mask lunacy still applies as the NJ fool governor who put thousands out of work still cares about the “safety” of the kids.
I can’t wait to see the damage that was done, wondering how many kids and teachers return to a system that was already short on funds. This is a township of “sanctuary state” NJ loaded with English second language kids (ESL immigrants), idiot liberal union teachers and staff, and stupidly high property taxes.
As many move out, NYC Hasidic Jews are moving in. The Jews send their kids to yeshiva and once they get enough people on the school board, they gut the funding and raze the public schools – just like they did in Lakewood and Ramapo, NY.
My kids are college-age or older and I’m watching the place slowly burn, beer in hand. This virus lunacy is gas on the fire.
Just because you got them to college doesn’t mean they’re ‘safe.’ I lost a son to the leftists in college after he was fine through HS. Heartbreaking.

The oldest of my three went to state college at Montclair. His face is on their multicultural center’s wall. He’s 26 and still dealing with the ideological mind poison they handed out.

Back in the early 90s, my older daughter barely missed being assigned to AG classes, despite having a 130+ IQ. In the 6th grade she could not discern the difference bdetween a verb and adverb. I was divorced & starting up a business that was complicated by her & my father in law purposely ruining my credit rating. Saved my $$$ and enrolled her in a top end private prep school several years later. Her SAT improved over 200 points in less than a year. U
Unfortunately, she is a color blind Bama alum & fan like her mother.
Younger daughter made it into AG. 6th out of 222 in her class. Got a partial scholarship to Chapel Hill. And that was 15 yrs ago.
Looking forward to the demise of the phony public ed & college models. As for college, Ole Miss will disappear, as nobody learns anything there except to party.
This is one of the reasons why I sent my two younger ones to private military school. I DESPISE state colleges.
The two younger ones were bored with primary school but got steered away from the state colleges into ROTC. Neither of them were Honor Society material, but they excelled in college as STEM grads, were given military-style discipline and values – and weapons training in a marginally conservative atmosphere.
In the coming years they’ll need and build on what they’ve learned.

The only flaw in their plan was the Chinese Flu driving countless thousands of people to embrace home schooling. My little guy is at least 2 years ahead of his peers, thanks to homeschooling. He reads well, demonstrates advanced thinking, and loves to learn new things. He loves books. He reads to me now, too, instead of the other way around. He also likes to build his own circuits with an Elenco snaptogether circuit kit. Awesome little guy. BTW- anyone with kids should look into the I Survived series of books. Great stories for kids.
Keep him building the electronics. We used to visit family in Meridian MS back in the early 60s when I was very very young. There was a music store two blocks down from my aunt’s house where we would buy records, and the son of the owner was always fooling around with the old Layfayette electronics kits.
The store was Peavey’s Melody Music Company. The son, Hartley, has sold a few amplifiers since then.
Electronic gadgetry is a constructive hobby for kids. One of my school pals got his HAM license as an 8th grader. I ended up being a well-paid contractor doing electronic systems configuration, SATCOM, and telecom repair for years. The hobby is a lead-in to a possible STEM education in the future.
I also taught military recruits technical math, radio theory fundamentals, and solid state function and repair as a younger man. One of my favorite memories is the past study of a prototype training aid set up in the basement of a now non-existent school. It mirrored the old telephone system of post-WW2 Berlin.
Steer them well. Never forget to teach the martial arts of war.

After retiring somewhat early from my first career I worked for nine years as a long-term substitute English teacher and part-time math tutor in a suburban high school in one of the nations’s wealthiest and largest ( owing to its proximity to DC ) school districts, .
The demographic break-down was roughly 25% black, 35% Latino (at least half were illegal), 35% Asian (mostly Chinese and SE Asian), and 15% White.
At most, 5% of the Black 25% were prepared, capable of preparing, or, worse, even interested in preparing, for successful assimilation into Western civilization.
It is as patently inhumane to Blacks as it is detrimental to Whites to forcibly impose integration on the two peoples.

I am the member of a local school board and sat on a committee for the return to school this fall. The overarching theme of the argument for getting the kids back in the classroom was advanced by the school nurses: “we have no means to figure out what’s going in these homes if we don’t have access to the kids.” The other theme expressed was, “we don’t know what these kids are getting their heads filled with..”
Scary stuff! They are disclosing more and more everyday. The district is the most effluent district in NJ. What do you think the kids are “picking up” in these homes? Industry, entrepreneurship, respect, diligence, attention to detail, etc. They may even follow in their very successful parents footsteps on a path to success. Nuclear families, jobs, no pajamas at 3pm… the horror.

I recall a day my kid came home telling me about how it came time for the history lesson, the class was begun by the teacher stating, “ok class, Now comes the boring part”.

As a middle school teacher I can’t wait to go back to teaching in person. I started school on Thursday. The main issue I have with zoom is getting the kids to turn on their Damm video and participate. Back in March this was not much of an issue because the kids all knew me from almost a years teaching. They did what I asked with little squabble. With a new set of fresh students how am I supposed to make connections when all I see is a black box with a name, and a student who refuses to unmute their mic.
I am a Norwegian. 1966-67 i attended Hickman Haigh School in Columbia Missouri. The teaching an d the teachers were excellent. The Textbooks more advanced than even the teaching. Only last year it dawned upon me that most of my teachers taught there to avoid the traft and to be sandt to Viet Nâm or other strange places. They had signed all up for avanced degrees in “Educaton” at the U of M in Columbia Missouri — which theu truely did not need, excellent teachers and researchers as they were already. Our school had the greatest of “presidential scholars” in all of the USA. I would lve to receive info on how Hickman High School has fared hence!
I especially remember a gifted black girl who also sang in the local Community Choyer and who attended Sociollogy class. Where is she now?? I am than-ful for any respone –also about Jennifer Murfy!

This will make the 30% stock market drop this year a drop in the bucket. Home values will plummit because nobody will be able to qualify for a mortgage when mtg payments double and triple with just 8-9% loans. This essentially means that the few house sales that will happen will be cash deals.
