I would take the failing grade but I would write the truth, then the shiiiit out the questionner and make him eat the essay.

I suppose if the definition of terrorist organization somehow exempts the US Government, then it would be an easy case to make that the Taliban aren’t terrorists, because the US government has murdered millions, enslaved millions, caged millions, tortured millions, stolen from billions, and the Taliban are minor players compared to them.
And notice that the course title appears to be “Politics of Terrorism.” Indeed, terrorism is the hallmark of politics, and whether someone is considered a terrorist or not is also a measure of politics, NOT something that is derived by comparing actions to definitions.
How’s that saying go; One man’s terrorist, is other man’s freedom fighter. Or something like that.

I went to engineering school, it was not a university, we did not have BS stuff like this.
Chemistry, physics, calculus, and a slew of engineering courses is all I took. The few English / history courses we had were basic high school level.
During the Irian hostage time, the Iranian students protested for an hour, nobody paid any attention to them.
I have to admit, over the last 40 year, my school did get woke as the female population increased, its a shame.
Crawfisher, Right On. I advised my 7 children to not bother with college unless they had a clear direct path to some degree in a profession that had some barriers to entry. Some took my advice and some did not, to their detriment. Now most graduates are just modern day indentured servants.
I’d read that universities had transitioned from teaching people how to think into teaching people what to think. This is verification. Graduates will now know that anybody the government designates, e.g. parents who object to a school board’s policies, are terrorists, period. No need to actually think about it.

There are plenty of pejoratives to describe the Taliban. It’d be good to start by calling them
jihadis, goatfuckers, and henchmen while not forgetting to mention their spiritual leader
pedophile Mohamed at the end.. Using best practices learnt in higher edumaction one
should be able to stretch the insults out long enuf to have 500 words, double spaced and
typed in standard 12 point font to get the point of the lesson.

I see no problem. The Taliban is not a terrorist organization, the CIA and Mossad are. Also it has always been common to be given a critical position because it teaches one to think from a different point of view, which is necessary when learning how to think critically. I see no problem with this particular assignment, however I could go on for days about why college is a waste of time for other reasons.
I know I’m giving too much credit but this Prof could be using Socratic Method to force one to argue the other side of the argument. It makes one a better critical thinker when forced to think through your own position. She could have made the paper, “Define how Hitler made life better for Germans”
