I’ve got about 300 lbs. of various brewing grains/malts (2 row, Munich, Vienna, Pils) along with various noble Hops (plus I grow Cascade), and dry yeasts (which have gotten much, much better in the last several years) to make some home brew myself.
If you should need help in any fashion I’ll come immediately… 🙂

been thinking the same, just got a wine/cider making set up, and looking to get a distiller once I get the first part down, could make a ton of homemade Calvados (apple brandy) in my neighborhood
Be very, very careful distilling anything with fruit as a base. People that go blind/kill themselves distilling almost ALWAYS do it when when distilling fruit. Fruit generates a much, much higher amount of methanol than does distilling grains. Personally, I would advise against it unless you really know what you are doing.

Anon- be careful with pectin containing fruits and see if there are yeast strains that are known to minimize methanol fermentation.
Old moonshiner’s ’round these here part’s distilled peach and apple brandy , with no negative sides effect, albeit the occasional hangover, that I ever heard , and I’ve dispensed with my share of the magic elixir , but they were redneck moonshiners , so professionals, then. Rookies don’t try this at home.

My brother would agree. I had a well stocked home brew cellar back in grad school up until he moved in with me for a bit. He even drank the worst of it (spruce beer, aka ThunderHeadcheMaker).

EWS Looking for that sure hope that only Christ can bring to his believers. Lately in the face of things that have come and will be coming my joy is full! Happiness is generally based on circumstances but even in that department I have been very happy the last few months. I have reached the age that if I do lose it and do something really bad a life sentence just isn’t a deterrent. Faith in Christ removes many of the speedbumps on the road well traveled.
I’m hoping the weather will improve, but since the ‘forecasts’ have been nearly ‘prescient’, that may still be up in the air, in a manner of speaking. For that last several years, I have truly enjoyed the change of seasons. That one week of spring (Ditto Fall) always boosts my Spirit.
Can’t wait to whine about how hot it is.
Well, the world on the television shows things going to shit but in my own personal life I am doing great. I ignore the teevee (don’t own one) ignore the propaganda, the fear mongering, the manipulation and media gaslighting and get on with my life, doing things that fulfil me and make me happy and in the long run, that is the best antidote for dealing with the bullshit they spew.
Don’t worry it will eventually find us all, even the small town rural folks.

We have had that 1 week 3 times now and there is snow on the ground again.
I have lots of sprouts coming up in the garden and it was covered in 4″ of white stuff this morning. We’ll be back to 70 by mid week. Most of it is cold hardy and the snow should insulate it from the 20 degree air tonight. Such things happen in early spring.

This is an opportunity unlike anything we have ever had in the past. Before now everyone could just pretend that things weren’t that bad because at least they had their job and home and you could keep your head down and no one would come after you because you didn’t agree with some ridiculous set of prog standards. Then they showed you who was boss by telling you to cover your face, keep your distance from each other, go to your room, take some shot and most people said well, maybe if we just do what they say it will all go back to normal and now?
What’s left? What are the good parts of their system? What do you still have left of your old world? What can you still say openly without living in fear? How much of your money is going to be left when they bleed you dry with every gallon of gas, every loaf of bread, every new tax and fee to cover their ever shrinking revenues?
This marks the beginning of the end of the old world that was irretrievably broken, rotten, corrupt and dirty and time to start fresh with something of real value.
If you are too old, then think of your children and grandchildren and set them up with something off-grid. Put all your efforts into helping them get established on a homestead, away from the rot and the oppression. Teach them everything you know, give them the tools and invest in their future if you aren’t able to do it yourself.
Make the change, anyone can do it who has the means before there isn’t any of that left over and your own children wind up trapped.
The idea that these people are going to control everyone and everything is an illusion, another of their bullshit stories meant to trap you into compliance. Now is the time to finally snap out of the trance that has paralyzed everyone for so long, wishing and hoping that eventually people will come to their senses and return to a normality that is long gone.
This is the chance that everyone has been waiting for all along without realizing it.
Be the change you want to see in the world and it will happen.

I told my wife a few days ago that my joints feel like I’m 20 again. I wake up feeling great every second. I upped my mineral intake is what I think made me feel from good to great.
My garden is sprouting new shoots every day. Even with 4″ of new snow covering it this morning, I expect it to continue to grow, prosper and provide us with food for several months.
Here in AK, I’m waiting for the big melt. Snow usually takes until April 21st to melt. So, I plant as soon as I can, early May, and I cover it with plastic to get the seeds up. Somethings I put a plastic dome over for half the summer. I start harvesting in July. From then on its harvesting stuff everyday till about October.
John – I have a cold frame that allows me to plant some of my cool season veggies in mid February. We have had 4 snow/ice events this year and usually maybe get 1. We also had an 81 degree day week before last. I will plant some of my warm season seeds in about 3 weeks and should be getting lots of salad makings by then. Was still picking through the first week of November last year.
From what it sounds. Food may get scarce. I’m going to try and get as much as I can. I also trade some vegies for fresh Salmon if I don’t catch some myself.
Here in NH, the snow is on the ground until Mother’s day.
The weather. Spring is here. Lots of green things to grow.
High of 21 degrees here today. Supposed to be 50 degrees tomorrow and higher for the next 10 days. Get out and make some natural vitamin D.

and tweaked my neck sneezing yesterday.
So, I’m probably just one strong fart away from incontinence, or possibly complete paralysis.
If I had any money, yes, I see several good near term opportunities I could be joyful about because I am certain that good land and houses in Florida, that gold and silver; that food grain futures and fertilizer will spike in price; probably fuel will continue up especially coal, and good gas powered street scooters. Of course like every time in my life, it depended on having some spare money or being Black; and that is why I am still a poor White unfortunate son with no prospect of ever escaping the bottom rung (or two) of American society’s economic ladder. The Happy Days will return after the Counter-Revolution.
We’ll, here’s my latest hope for folks who’ve been around to know my mandate fight with Waters Corporation (aka the devil) that ended poorly for me as they denied my religious exemption-#1 story on TBP of 2021, thanks Jim!
After losing all benefits and 35% of my pay taking the best job I could find that would hire a pure blood, I have been rocketed through a selection / hiring process that has the potential to put me back in the field service engineer role for a different science company. Contacted recruiter a week ago Friday, recruiter call Monday am, application sent Tuesday am, hiring manager call Tuesday pm, second manager call Thursday pm, HR call Friday am, second application (the real one with history and references ) sent Friday evening.
Looks positive from my end. My worst worry is that $#*t goes sideways whilst I’m away from home in the training area
