30 BLOCKS THROWBACK THURSDAY

In a tragic accident in 2019 I accidentally deleted every 30 Blocks of Squalor article I had ever written on TBP. I think they were some of my best work. Some people didn’t think so and tried to get me fired from my job, but failed. There are a few that got picked up by other websites, so I’m able to reproduce a few. This one was from May 2012. Enjoy.

MORE THAN 30 BLOCKS OF GREY & DECAY

30 Blocks of Squalor – The Burning Platform

It happened again yesterday morning. There was an accident on the Schuykill Expressway so I had the pleasure of navigating through the 30 Blocks of Squalor, again. After having made at least 25 posts about the 30 Blocks of Squalor over the years, I keep thinking I’ve run out of things to say. But it seems to be a never ending treasure trove of insights about our society and the people who live in this country. It was a particularly grey day in Philadelphia with a dreary overcast and intermittent rain. It seemed fitting for this trek through the slowly decaying landscape leading to my workplace in West Philly.

I’ve talked previously about the stretch of highway leading to the 30 Blocks of Squalor. It’s called West Chester Pike (Route 3) and it cuts through Delaware County where I grew up. It cuts through Havertown, Haverford, Drexel Hill, and Upper Darby and eventually spits you out at 69th Street, where I’ve previously detailed the flash mob of savages rampaging through the Sears stealing everything in sight (all caught on surveillance cameras to be shown on a future reality TV show). In a shocking turn of events, Sears decided to later close this retail establishment.

The 30 minute excursion along West Chester Pike and then the 30 Blocks of Squalor (Chestnut St from 69th St to 39th St) is like traveling through Dante’s nine circles of hell. Every mile leads you deeper and deeper into the abyss. My observations along this route are of a country in a slow methodical steady decline that has been underway for decades and shows no signs of abating.

The neighborhoods and towns along West Chester Pike were occupied by the rising middle class during the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s. These towns were where blue collar middle class families built a life and raised their families. The fathers worked in factories, refineries, schools, power plants and thousands of other productive enterprises. Americans made stuff back then. Most wives stayed home and raised the three or four children in the small brick row homes or small detached singles that dotted the landscape.

These neighborhoods were entirely white and most were church going. Most of the adults had not graduated college, but they were still able to move up the economic ladder through hard work, saving, and living within their means. Their children were guaranteed an even better life if they studied hard, went to college, and got an office job as an accountant, engineer, marketing executive, or in some other promising profession.

This progression began to transform into regression in the 1980s and the slow steady descent has picked up speed. There is now a grey pallor that seems to engulf this once thriving corridor. The houses that were built in the 1950s and 1960s and kept up by middle class families that took pride in their neighborhoods have been deteriorating for years. The homes are in disrepair. The bricks have grown dingy from years of pollution buildup and lack of power washing.

Porches and awnings are sagging. The woodwork hasn’t seen a paint brush since the 1970s. Trash is strewn in the streets. Gardens are no longer tended to. Lawns are overgrown with weeds. The inhabitants of these neighborhoods either don’t care or don’t have the financial wherewithal to maintain their homes. On the current trajectory, these once proud neighborhoods will eventually resemble the 30 Blocks of Squalor.

I believe a country and a community will have a lot of what it values most. Our country has a lot of debt, a lot of vehicles, a lot of bombs, a lot of psychotic criminals running our economic and political systems and a lot of willfully ignorant drones – disguised as citizens. As I drove along West Chester Pike I tried to observe what it is we value today. This route is inundated with automobile repair shops, gas stations and auto dealerships. We cannot live without our cars. I can say without a doubt that I saw not one manufacturing facility along this entire route, but if you want your Japanese car fixed, detailed, or waxed, you’ve hit the jackpot.

We value our cars, purchased with debt or leased, but the roads are crumbling, filled with potholes, traffic lights aren’t timed, and the small towns are too bankrupt to do anything about it. The second most important thing to the zombies that inhabit this wasteland is mass quantities of food. You’ve got donut shops, fast food joints, pizza places, Chinese restaurants, Irish pubs every two blocks, and coffee houses on a mind numbing scale. It is easy to see why we’re the most obese people on earth. There are no farmers markets, produce stands, or even grocery stores. But there are at least six beer distributors. And of course there is one L.A. Fitness Center for the ten people out of ten thousand who want to keep in shape. I expect to see a Space Available sign in front of this place in the not too distant future.

Besides the general decay of the commercial properties, you can’t miss the fact that every block has at least one vacant commercial property. There are far more For Sale, Space Available, For Rent, and Leasing signs dotting the barren wasteland than there are wedding rings on fingers in West Philly. The vacant buildings are antiquated relics from the 1960s. It’s as if time stopped at the end of the 1970s and no one has invested a dime in this stretch of highway in 30 years. It’s like “The Land that Time Forgot”.

The only new buildings along this stretch of highway further emphasize what is seemingly important to our society. There are numerous architecturally grand bank branches dominating this highway. There is a beautiful new building housing the Social Security Administration for this area. This is where the obese, depressed and unemployable flock to sign up for the SSDI gravy train. And lastly there are a few medical facilities that are top notch. It seems that banks, government and medicine are doing just fine. But what do they produce?

I think this is a reflection of why this area has deteriorated over time. Industries that made things left this area and left this country. Small businesses were overwhelmed by mega-corporations who cared only about next quarter earnings. They met these earnings targets, set by Wall Street, by shipping the good paying blue collar jobs that supported these communities overseas. The middle class families living here saw their wages stagnate or decline. Wives were forced into the workforce to just keep their households afloat financially. The family unit suffered, with children raised by strangers or left to fend for themselves.

This is where the Wall Street maggots stepped in and sold these middle class families on the illusion of faux wealth built on a pyramid of credit card debt, auto loans, and mortgage debt. Who got wealthy? Not the families living in these fading neighborhoods. The bankers got rich and continue to flaunt their wealth by paying themselves obscene levels of compensation, buying off politicians, gutting our economy and opening fancy new outlets. An economy built upon manufacturing, production, and value added work results in rising wages and a thriving community. An economy built upon debt attracts consumer consumption outlets that add no value and result in declining wages, government dependency and a dying community.

These once thriving communities have rapidly aged. As the jobs and wages dried up, these communities have become dependent on the government to provide. Social Security payments are now a primary income source for many. The government controlled healthcare industry is thriving as Medicare and Medicaid pay for an increasing proportion of the care in these neighborhoods. After decades of pretending that debt could replace wages and savings, these communities are collapsing due to lack of income, decent paying jobs, capital investment, and common sense. West Chester Pike is well on its way to becoming a future 30 Blocks of Squalor.

Once you pass through the 69th Street death camp, which resembles a scene from Night of the Living Dead, you spill out onto the 30 Blocks of Squalor.

This is where the circle of hell began. The rotting carcasses that pass for homes on this stretch of squalor were once occupied by the white families that moved to Delaware County along West Chester Pike in the 1950s and 1960s. It is now 90% black and 10% Hispanic. The real unemployment rate exceeds 50%, murder is the number one industry, with drugs a close second.

As you drive down the 30 Blocks of Squalor you meet the ghost of Squalor future for West Chester Pike. The population along this corridor is ignorant, dependent, and represents the dregs of our society. There is virtually no legal commerce along the squalor. The Asians, Koreans, and whites that attempted to open stores have all been shot down in cold blood. The once proud homes are in shambles. Bags of garbage dot the landscape. Most of the people who live here are parasites on society.

Personal responsibility, work ethic, education and marriage are unknown concepts in this community. Even though more than 50% of the students in West Philly drop out of high school and the SAT scores of West Philly High students are lower than whale shit, the bankrupt school district spent $70 million to build a new high school/prison to babysit these derelicts and future prison inmates. The windows do not have steel bars yet, as the architect was smart to put all windows at least eight feet above street level.

The Chestnut Plaza truly represents what is important to this community. This Squalor Center, as opposed to Power Center, includes a video porn store, cash checking/payday loan outlet, smoke shop, donut shop, Laundromat, and liquor store. No need for a wedding ring store or resume writing service. Evidently this community values gorging themselves on fast food, getting high, getting drunk, jerking off to porno, and then having their sheets washed. They wouldn’t want to invest a few hundred dollars of their welfare payments on a washer and dryer, when they can spend it on the Direct TV NBA package. They utilize their 8th grade level education to get payday loans from the check cashing store at 40% interest.

Our entire society is in a downward social and economic spiral. We are just at different levels of decay (Dante’s circles of hell). At the current pace it won’t be long before I’m writing about the 50 States of Squalor. It is virtually impossible to reverse a decline that has been underway for the last three decades. We sold our souls to Wall Street and chose a debt financed illusion of wealth over productive savings and investment which would have led to real wealth. Our choices are reflected in the continued deterioration and decay along West Chester Pike and the squalor that is West Philly. Grey and decay will carry the day.

The words on the Statue of Liberty should be revised from,  “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free”, to “we have become your indebted, materialistic, obese, aging masses yearning for the government to protect and sustain us as our once great nation decays.”

As a nation, we have chosen this path. We made the choices and now we will suffer the consequences.

But the 30 blocks of Squalor, exponentially, in certain areas only.
Such as the darker hues and Dem controlled areas primarily.
Be smart and be observant, vote with your wallet and actions. Move to an area ot buy property where its safer and more remote where like minded and self sufficient people. Good luck!!

Been many (40 plus years) since I have traveled down West Chester Pike – remember the signs of decay were there even then. Descriptions are spot on. Had many friends whose parents lived “down the Pike” from Saint Joe’s. Never had a problem while attending SJU (though holdups and worse were starting to happen even then). My “good fortune” I ascribe to my being born in Camden – where I had already developed my survival and urban warfare skills, and my 1000 yard stare, from previous “encounters” – you get hard and survive or you don’t – law of the the jungle. Fast forward to today – whole country fast approaching a state of Hobbesian anarchy.

Gl and Ed, I feel your pain. My father was born in Camden in ’37 and was star football at Wilson, later he became a Camden cop. He and his buddies would talk nostalgically about a once great city. From what I could gather it happened slowly then all at once in ’68 with the riots. Seems like a pattern in once great American cities. After all the stories and laughs you could detect a feeling of sadness with these hard men for what had happened to their world. God rest their souls and the soul of middle class America.

Vermont is run by the democrat party. Sure, they have a GOP governor now, but their unicameral legislature is 104-46 D:R. Bernie Sanders and Pat Leahy are their senators. There’s no 30 Blocks of Squalor in Burlington. They’re among the most heavily armed states and usually have the lowest murder rate in the country. It’s not the party. It must be something else.

I knew a Korean guy who owned a bodega there. Most of his customers were black. When they’d bring their kids in tow he’d give them free candy. One day he saw one of these black kids repeatedly kicking the side of his car. He ran out to scold the kid and chase him away. Next thing you know there was a mob of blacks out front cursing him and calling him a racist. He had to sell his place and move out of Philly. He was very bitter about that.

I moved from SoCal into the Rust Belt because you can not break what is already broken. I see neighborhoods like the one described all of the time. It is depressing.

It doesn’t take much money to buy a home here – not much at all. The problem, though, is the upkeep of these 100-year-old brick houses and the big yards that accompany them. Not an easy task at all.

Every home for miles around is made of brick yet there are no masons anywhere to be found. Odd. Since moving here, I’ve attempted to hire someone – anyone to do some point work but it is simply impossible. I’ll be doing that myself later this Summer.

The previous owner let the backyard go for a season or two and the cleanup was astronomical. My backyard is a hillside in what can only be described as a rainforest. I had a pile of branches, small trees and assorted brush that was 30 feet long and 6 feet high. I know exactly how big that pile was because I was the one that made that pile because I couldn’t hire anyone to do that work. No one would do it at any price. I ended up buying a wood chipper because I couldn’t hire anyone to haul that stuff away.

Speaking of tools, I’ve had to buy all kinds of tools that I thought I’d never need because I’m unable to hire anyone to do the work. Power washer to wash down the house. Wood chipper as mentioned. Various chainsaws and an assortment of rakes, hoes, trimmers, shovels, wheelbarrows, etc.

I did have a privacy fence added and it was, after months of delay, put up last weekend. I was shocked to learn that the crew that did the work traveled here from several hundred miles away. Talking to the crew I discovered that they traveled from town to town during the season and stayed at a hotel each evening. I guess all of our young people are too busy trying to be Influencers, Podcasters and YouTubers (not really, I’m guessing they are all at home playing video games and watching porn).

So far, in the past calendar year, I’ve spent over $10,000 to maintain my lawn. Had I not done so, nature would have easily overwhelmed my property.

It pains me to see such once beautiful homes fall to ruin but putting the poor in such homes was a terrible mistake. You really need to be firmly fixed in the middle or upper middle class to have a home such as the ones found here because, like it or not, you are going to spend at least $1k a month on basic repair and maintenance. You also need to have a ready line of credit for if something terrible happens like having part of the roof blown away in a storm.

My neighborhood is designated a historic district and requires homes to be occupied by the owner. It isn’t possible to rent your home in my neighborhood and it shows in the well-maintained properties. We are an exception though.

Better off to rent tools, especially in the wood chipper class. Sold my 3 point, generally just stack the brush on the edge of the Rain Forest with the grapple. Keep lookin’ up for some Orchids. The boss (ONLY when she’s home) keeps forgetting to put the ice cubes on the bark-like substrate/weekly basis of the ones i’ve bought her, and i’m not allowed in her office to check on ‘em. Great habitat for the critters, It’s an art-form in and of itself. The dead bark off’n the elms and ash make a really nice roof. Couple good rain soakings and they Mould/mold/mycellium right to the pile and fuse together. Don’t know how much acreage you are talking, but i can only use one chainsaw, (few of these, and a sawmill if that counts) wheelbarrow, shovel, etc. at a time. Sheepishly, (bragging actually, as if it’s not obvious) have to admit to having more tools than i know what to do with these days. Hand digging Tools? Still keep one spade and one flat in a 5 gal. bucket of sand soaked with old motor oil for occasional personal use, they stay sharp and rust free. Barrel full of other hand tools i drag out when people come to visit, and won’t leave. Spud bar and the manual post hole digger…Foolproof. Wheelbarrows can be handy. Sometimes easier with the 2 wheel wheelbarrow to just use a coal shovel, load up the piles individually and haul ’em to a central location, best against a bank. With some practice, it’s just the one time having to crawl up on the tractor. Could sprain your wrist working the front end loader. Counterintuitive to push the joystick the right way when the tractor is trying to flip backward on a steep slope. 4 wheel drives a constant problem all my life. Can’t imagine anywhere that a 40 yd. dumpster is more than a phone call away, delivered, precisely, to the location of your choosing. Nearly as fearless as a good concrete truck driver. ‘Course you need to learn how to pack it for maximum benefit. Less to sell when you finally return to cali. Scaffolding is NOT cheap, but if you try to rent it in season, availability is limited/non-existent. Scaffoldmart.com Get a ‘Tuck-pointing’ wheel for one of your grinders, (diamond Hilti® are the gold standard) and a grout bag/ some tuck pointing/joint tooling tools. NOT for the faint hearted.

Don’t know har far away U R, might be a nominal trip charge. Running a new customer special on ‘basic repair and maintenance’, $999.99/month tax included. Real Work rates slightly more. ‘Time and materials’ most beneficial. To me.

Credentials available upon request. Not to brag, but i gotta Roofer’s Card. Too. Covers Everything.

P.S. being a top flight professional i don’t even NEED insurance, Thought you should be aware though, the homeowner is liable under these circumstances.

Big Yard? Like 5.5 hrs. non-stop on a 60” zero turn going 7 mph big?

My apologies for being somewhat ’snippy’, ‘Rustbelt’ born and bred, Spent YEARS getting back to the holler where i was raised.

At least You had the sense to move away, Not as delusional as the poor soul paying’ $2000/month property taxes in a viper pit. Wonder if he’s one of the ones pulling down 250K/yr. and living paycheck to paycheck?

i bought and fixed up an abandoned house on the edge of the ‘hood about 20 years ago. Every day for most of a year i went over there after work for at least a few hours of everything from brickwork to plasterwork to woodwork to plumbing to electrics to windows and doors, painting, cement, heating, the works. i did pay a crew to change the roof as that was too much for one person to handle alone.
I open carried almost every time i went over there after a close call with a burglary early on. Also had some issues in the beginning with trash etc but after one evening when some of the surrounding folks must have figured out that that crazy mofo who bought that house is always packing and shows up at random times, they left the place alone. not a beer can or a tire or a cigarette butt was left on the property again.. originally thought i’d move into it, but changed my mind after spending almost every evening there and sold it basically at cost. the first buyers who came with money to close the sale quickly ended up being a single mom of , er, minority persuasion. by that time i was tired of the house and priced it to sell quickly.
Just a few years later the ‘hood absorbed it back into its gestalt of decay and destruction. i happened to be back in that town maybe a decade later and drove by for shits and grins to see what the ol’ place was doing. totally trashed. some things which i had left in fine condition seemed broken or ruined in ways which made almost no sense unless the damage was deliberate. The subdued and conservative colors i’d painted the exterior woodwork with (it was a brick house) had been repainted an ass-ugly bright purple (wtf?). the yard was overgrown and full of trash. cheap plastic lawn type furniture was all over the porch and lawn..
and so on and so forth. i was glad i had gotten rid of it but it was still disappointing to see the work one put into it gone to waste.
at the time, i was young and it was an adventure.

What we seen this time was a country on its last legs, as far as the towns are concerned. Went down to Vicksburg, bye the way there is a sink in the toilets at the museum in Vicksburg looted/ liberated from Saddam Hussein’s palace by a Mississippi regiment, so really the US can’t talk about anyone else. When we where going back drove up the west side of the river, miles and miles of farmland, smaller towns seem to be much better off, even poorer small towns. That night we got in late, so the only place that was opened was Appleby’s on Union Av, we went place was packed we were only two whites there, I must say that we were served as quick as anyone and the server was very pleasant to talk to. A few years ago we done Jamestown, Yorktown and Williamsburg, very nice area. After we went over to Blue Ridge Parkway, stayed at area called Fancy Gap on the Parkway, meant to be for one night, but stayed 5, the people in the towns up around there are real friendly and willing to sit and talk, met a woman in a restaurant up there who hadn’t been off the mountain for 60 years, said everything was there that she needed. Years ago someone asked why not move to the States, hate to say it but the average worker is much better of in europe.

europe? well, the variation is as great as in saying ‘the us’, theres a world of a difference between living in, say, camden or philly, versus living in the appalachians!
ireland might be a decent place for the average worker.. try greece for a while! you’ll quickly see why over 5% of the total population (and all young productive folk) have emigrated (even by official statistics) in the past 10-12 years. government as corrupt and suffocating as the worst states in the us. taxes and restrictions even worse than all but the most psychotic jurisdictions in those worst states. accountability zero. opportunity for work is basically menial labor (either farm labor, urban labor, or tourist biz labor) at non-livable wages where your competition is albanians or pakistanis who , mostly having no papers, can even take home more than you at the end of the day because as a citizen nobody would think of hiring you under the table but the illegals in the same shop you know are all working for straight cash paid in hand at the day’s end and laughing at you for being a sucker. your 4 or 5 hundred a month won’t leave much for a rainy day!

Add Baltimore, MD to the list. I had a procedure done at JHU hospital a few years ago and the drive from VA was frightening (my husband drove). Yes, no cities really. Went to the River Walk in San Antonio recently, which was downtown. It was trashed out…litter everywhere, trash floating in the river, homeless people begging for money, and it smelled really bad. Liberals just ruin every. single. thing. they touch. That is disgusting. I was never a big fan of the River Walk, but disgusting now I suppose. Take you a hike to Big Bend , Ms. Abby, obviously in the fall or spring. Probably plenty of beer cans and trash along the roads. Still, Alpine, Marfa , Terlingua and of course Boquillas even with federal government control at the crossing. Need a passport for Boquillas . No comment how stupid that requirement. I think libertarians occupy Terlingua. Lol

No, Texas except Boquillas, Mexico. Access Boquillas while in Big Bend. Alpine , Tx. is the major entrance into Big Bend. Its about 100 miles or so from Alpine. Nothing there between but don’t be “afraid”. That part of the country is not what you read about along the Texas-Mexican border in the major border crossings. There’s nothing out there. But you will find friendly people in Terlingua and the others I mentioned and , check it out online, comfortable places to stay. Don’t be scared about going to Boquillas either. That is like a third world village that cares nothing about the rest of the world. At the time 0f 911 there were maybe 125 in that village. Their existence since older times of mining is the tourists from Big Bend.

Plenty of places in Arkansas and Oklahoma if looking for nature. Try the Buffalo River in Arkansas or closer to the metro, Beaver Bend area of Oklahoma. Beaver Bend area is only about 100 miles from me and very popular among natives here. Let’s see, ok, check Colorado Bend State Park near Lampasas, Tx. I love the Hill Country and that area is part of it. An old friend’s dad use to swim at Gorman Falls in what is now part Colorado Bend State Park. No swimming at the falls now, only tours. That must have been something to have experienced the falls before the state acquired the property. Online, look for the scheduled tours of Gorman Falls. All that area is Texas so , mesquite trees, cactus, rocks, live oaks, pecan trees, all the good things about Texas Hill Country. Check it out.

Check out this book for some nostalgic Texas country music history. I’ve had it for a number of years. The accounts and pictures are awesome, Dance Halls and Last Calls A History of Texas Country Music by Geronimo Trevino III. I laugh at older pics of Willie Nelson. A very nice book, about 250 pages.

There is also a state park I’ve camped. Big Bend Ranch State park is awesome and less visited, or was , last I went there. It is located west of Big Bend toward Presidio, Tx. From Lajitas , Tx. follow the River Road along the Rio Grande to the entrance of BBRSP.

Firearms are permitted in BB but no discharge as in target practice or hunting.

I could not sleep much at all last night. Most days, I read stuff here and then I go about my day as usual, but yesterday some of the articles and comments here really hit home hard.

Maybe I should come here less, if it is too doomy?!

If the United States as a nation with a unified moral code, belief system, goals and culture is irretrievably lost, how can the bloody climax ever end and resolve? I guess I am trying to predict the future here. Help me out!

Since the different groups are so divided, yet live interspersed with each other, how can they separate? There is no geographic separation now, at least not cleanly, so removing, say all of the blacks from Massachusetts or all of the whites from Mississippi, how would that work? And that is just the racial divide. How do you remove the lazy from the enclaves of the hard working? If you were to compare this to a cancer in a body, are we beyond local spread and now in the metastatic state? You cannot remove single cells that are present everywhere, not without harming the whole.

How likely is it, for real, that the US will break up into multiple nation states? And how would that even work, if New Hampshire is a separate country surrounded by Maine, Vermont, Connecticut and Massachusetts, given the different outlook on life? Similarly, how about Denver versus the rest of Colorado. Will Denver and Boston belong to the same country? Not likely, given how far apart they are, but they have more in common with each other than Laramie does with Denver.

I am still trying to figure out where the best geographic location is to increase chances of survival for our offspring. I thought Eastern Tennessee was not too bad, given the weather, long growing season, absence of hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, the conservative attitude and abundance of arable land. Then, I looked up race percentages, and maybe I am wrong.

Could there ever be a scenario in which blacks are only allowed to live in a certain geographic area in the US like a giant reservation or prison?

Svarga…a few rambling thoughts…

If you are going to move, you really need to get on it and make the decision. It has been a year since I moved and I am just now getting adjusted (part of that is personality though). You will need time to build community & trust with the locals, your kids will need time to make new friends, etc. The adjustments are no joke when you pick up and completely change your lifestyle. Sounds like you’re used to convenience (I was too). Rural living is an adjustment when you’re not close to anything. Imagine where we’re going to be a year from now…you don’t want to do all the hard changes in your life during the worst of the collapse.

I’m sure you have thought this through…but in deciding on where to move, what is your husband going to do for work? Are there jobs available there? Can he work for himself? Also, check the homeschool rules & regulations in that state to make sure you’re ok with it. (TX has NO rules regarding homeschool – not even a Letter of Intention!) Some states are strict on these rules – can you abide by them? Utah is supposed to have lax rules too, I believe. Colorado is not good for the homeschool community. They have been trying hard every single year to tighten regulations on the homeschool community…including vaccines. Really think through that.

While mostly conservative whites where I live, there are also blacks & mexicans too. (lots of mexicans) I used to live near white liberals and they were the absolute worst people to live around. I’ll take living near a minority group any day over white liberals who want you to be ashamed of who you are. Not good for your kids either.

There is no perfect place to move to. Believe me, I have tried looking for perfection. It doesn’t exist. I have friends who live in conservative Franklin in Tennessee and they are even saying they want to leave the area because too many liberals have moved in. Texas will go the same way eventually. Just have to find the spot that is better than MA and hope for the best. Sounds like New Hampshire would be a good choice since it’s close to you?? No?

Eastern TN is where I would move if the wife was willing to leave the kids/grandkids in W. TN. Don’t know which area of E TN you looked at, but the racial mix is not bad in the Tri-cities area and there is lots of countryside that is almost pure lily white.

BTW – I have a black neighbor who is a great guy. He was raised in the country nearby and keeps his property up, plants a huge garden that he invites the neighbors to partake of and is always willing to lend a hand when one is needed. Country blacks and city blacks are two different breeds. One group believes in hard work and one group believes in government handouts.

Agree that country & suburban blacks are not the same as city blacks. Never had a problem with blacks, but I’ve never really been around many city blacks either.

Poverty is the problem with most city blacks. Have you ever read Ben Carson’s Gifted Hands? Worth a read. He grew up in the projects. Almost killed someone and would have spent his life in prison. His mother, who was illiterate, made sure her boys would not ever accept degrading hand-outs and made her boys stay home and read all the time to keep them out of trouble. As you can see, he turned out highly successful.

Btw…my dad, who is white, also grew up in the projects in the city…just like the black kids. Went to prison too. It’s not necessarily the race, IMO…it’s their hopeless environment, and the liberals who create it, that is the problem.

“it’s their hopeless environment, and the liberals who create it”

if you watch them, anyone can see that they behave as they do, not because they have no choice or alternative, but because they love it so, and view as oppression any attempt to restrain their childish rampages.

lots of blacks attended the same schools I did. they vandalized the books I read, they insulted the teachers I learned from, they skipped the classes I attended, the dropped out of the school I graduated from, and they burned down one wing of classrooms on their way out.

I went back on registration day the following school year. they were running in herds around the buildings, barely clothed, no purpose, no goal. I saw an administrator standing off to one side, looking beside himself with disgust. I tried to cheer him up – “look, a new opportunity to teach an incoming class.” he replied, “their average iq is 90.” I couldn’t think of anything to say, I just turned away.

Was your school in the city? Explain why blacks in the country & suburbs do not behave this way. When you grow up in poverty (as both my parents did) you are completely hopeless and feel your future will never get better. It is extremely difficult to pull yourself out of poverty & hopelessness and work towards a better life.

They behave as you mentioned because they really see that they don’t have much choice for a better life. When the government give you handouts, it keeps you down and dependent. Very hard to change your mindset from that. It is the government who does this to humans, regardless of race. Explain the segment of the white population we refer to as white trash.

I don’t think it is the poverty, but the culture that they are fed.

Where are the Vietnamese ghettos filled with hopeless refugees who had no
English, jobs, money, or prospects when they came from a war torn country? Where are all the Hmong and Cambodians who sit on the porch at 10 am with a 40 oz.? Where are all the Indians who came from a place where they regularly crap in the streets? Are they doing it here? Or are they working computer jobs and opening restaurants while the local addict is crapping in the street?

When was the last time you saw a ‘dot’ Indian asking for change/food/work at an intersection? Or a Vietnamese/Hmong/Cambodian? Why aren’t they hanging out, drugged out of their minds in the 30 Blocks?

No, it is not lack of money, but lack of ambition and values. Our society is sick, and is turning out sick people.

Take identical twin negro babies from birth — raise one on a ranch in the country in a solid traditionalist GOD FEARING family…

…and the other in a modern day, single mother environment in inner city Houston.

Results will be as different as night is from day.

Doubting that is tantamount to believing God created a race of man-beasts, which He did not do.

Any man raised and encouraged to behave as a beast, will behave as a beast. Nor is this a matter of intellect. The urban upbringing only supercharges the effects of ignorance and neglect.

I make no excuses for any of it. But beast behavior, even in its most wild and grotesque manifestations, is not unique to Sub-Saharan Africans. Blacks tend to flaunt their inner beast nakedly. Brazenly. The White Man tends to dress his inner beast in Armani and Brooks Brothers.

The Bible makes it clear that there are distinctions between the races which amount to more than differences in appearance. For example, God said the race of Ishmaelites would be forever at hostilities between themselves and other races. God called Ishmael (and by extension the race which bears his name) WILD MEN.

Furthermore, the Scriptures lend support to your opinions in the question: Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard his spots? (Jeremiah 13:23) But the verse continues: then may ye also do good that are accustomed to do evil.

The answer to the question supports my above answer to Ms. Adams. My contention is that there ARE differences between the races, but that beastly behavior rears its head in all races, albeit in somewhat different manifestations.

The Bible both shows us there are inherent differences between the races, and that beastly behavior manifests itself across the racial spectrum. Wild and animalistic versus refined and genteel. Who can say which strain of inner beast is more evil? From where I stand, the answer is obvious. The White Race is, by far, the more evil of the two. The White Man’s evil is more nuanced, more intelligent, more subtle. Think of what Val Kilmer’s Doc Holliday said of Michael Biehn’s Johnny Ringo

“…Evidently, Mr. Ringo is an educated man. Now I really hate him…”

At least with blacks, what you see is what you get. The educated White Man takes a bit longer to figure out.

To which race do you believe God ascribes the greater evil?

suburbia is perhaps worse than the inner city for producing human garbage. in the ghetto, it’s readily visible garbage right from the first view. The suburbs are what produce these globohomo white liberals to begin with. One can be sure that the people who originally built and moved into the suburbs two or three generations ago (basically once cars became ubiquitous) did not have this decay in mind but there is a subtle long term degradation of the soul that comes from being in a totally artificial and bland environment. Even a real city, or even more, being actually out in the country, is always something a bit less structured and wasnt something wholly designed and manufactured by some developer, with control freaks thinking they can halt all natural processes of change and succession to keep their perfect sterile utopia that way forever..
for a short while with enough wealth you can try to keep things artificial like that but entropy sneaks back in elsewhere. one of the worst manifestations of the entropy sneaking back into the suburban utopia is the people that it produced, soulless godless self hating, everything-hating pieces of self-absorbed self-important entitled human garbage snowflakes.

if there’s nothing feeding the parasites they will starve and die off. there might be a seed hiding somewhere waiting to germinate again if it gets the right conditions, but if society stops feeding the rot it will stop. that of course requires a whole catalog of character traits which this civilization’s rulers have spent decades working to eradicate.

that rot thrives and grows because it has been fed for decades. There are several mechanisms in motion but part of the picture is the same cycle of degeneracy and decline that all empires eventually follow. Everything is bigger and more extreme in the modern age and so is the degeneracy. When the empire slips even further down the decline eventually it will not be able to afford continuing to feed these parasites. They were useful as a way to break a coherent and strong society to pieces, and served a purpose for the ruling class (who of course werent paying for their parasite existence out of their own pockets anyway).. just like the immigrant ghettos and no-go zones in european cities these days. the ruling class used them as one of the big hammers to smash what had been a healthy and tightly-knit culture and society to make them easier to control. the ruling class thinks they can just throw the switch when they no longer want this human garbage around and just make it disappear. collapse on the other hand never goes according to anybody’s plans. Most or all of the parasites will starve. some will turn very violent on the way to try to postpone their starvation. If one in a hundred thousand actually turns into a productive honest person it would be a miracle, but not impossible and that would be the only way any of them will live longer than the time it takes to starve with or without looting a few remaining innocents first. otherwise, collapse will solve this problem (and pretty much nothing short of a pinochet would otherwise)

Thank you for a great article, and I hope you find the others. In the 10 years since you wrote the cancer has spread to every middle and small town in this country; everything has been hastened and homogenized by internet, social media, and globalism.
Here’s my take from little ole Waco TX and Russellville AR where I have worked and split time for eight years. The businesses I see in roughly descending order are: Fast food, other restaurants, oil change/lube/car washes, banks, pawn shops, auto repair/ tires/ used car dealers, sports bars, vape/tobacco/drug paraphernalia shops, tatoo parlors, nail/hair salons/day spas, attorneys, emergent care clinics aka “doc in a box”. You are still right–it’s all about cars and food with various pleasures thrown in..
Necessities are imported/ purchased at the big box stores–Walmart, Target, lowe’s, Home depot, etc, or ordered on Amazon. The zombies drive their cars bouncing from one to another of the above establishments like eccentric, unbalanced pinballs, never producing or accomplishing anything of lasting value. One common and highest ambition is to take every opportunity to tailgate, cut off, and pass everyone else so they can be 10 feet ahead when waiting at the next red light–all while keeping up with their social media accounts.
The only big producers supply the great american food/obesity chain: M & M Mars, Coca Cola, Tyson chicken, and the Conagra food factories, to mentiona few. Leftovers and proteinaceous body parts stink to the heavens as they are processed into pet food or feed to recycle into the next hatch of chickens.
A nation of such soft, self-serving consumers cannot last. We have literally eaten the substance out of the land. Much more squalor on the way.

To be quite honest this sounds very much like the area in which I live and interestingly only about 19% of the county populous is black.

Trash is strewn in the streets.

Lol, I should not comment about this being in Texas, the trash along the roads. Matters not , interstates, state highways, county roads, city streets. Pull into McDonalds, order a couple of bags of shit to eat, then while traveling down the road throw the paper bags , drinking cups, all of it out the window. Paper is said to be biodegradable and the uneaten soggy french fries are probably picked up by the stray dogs so, WTH, who cares? Funniest thing I recall about trashy peeps was when Wall Mart had those blue plastic bags with the yellow smiley face. Those things were obvious, dangling in tree limbs, hanging on fences, everywhere it seemed except in a trash can. Don’t see them now. Perhaps Wall Mart was getting a bad rap for those stupid looking bags and the fact they stood out like a sore thumb when thrown out the car window, bad “publicity”.

a lot of vehicles

I’ve sometimes said the US is an automobile graveyard. Look around my part of the world, and it does not take much looking, peeps seem to treasure those 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and more old cars and pickups, rusted old farm tractors and equipment that have sat for no telling how many decades in their front yards, back yards, pastures, everywhere. There is such a thing as selling old junk vehicles for scrap. To each his own. I don’t care, just unsightly and well, I’ve no clue why people like to live like that. The old redneck joke, you know you are a redneck while mowing the yard you discover a couple of cars. And a real kicker in these parts, driving past a trailer house, or even a house, why do people leave soiled baby diapers strewn all over the yard. It’s not dogs so much getting in the trash. These diapers will be there until we get a major rain , like 3-4 inches and then some wash away. Gone, into the ditches long the roads.

The bullet ridden sign makes me laugh about our county road signs. Seriously I look at them and not a dang one without bullet holes, mostly .22 size but they could be .223/5.56. Some holes are obviously .30 caliber types and some shotgun blasts. The state highway signs in the county are not as bullet ridden but they too are obvious. Our county has stopped replacing county road signs for the most part. It’s simply a waste of tax payers $$. I laugh about a trip to Colorado once. Driving around some forestry trails etc. I noticed trail marker signs and others with bullet holes. I was sort of surprised, the idea Colorado was kind of pristine. Asking a local retailer later what’s up with the bullet holes in those trail signs, the reply, “It’s those damn Texans. They come up here and shoot up everything.” My thoughts, is that a big deal, that’s what “we” do in Texas! Plus, throw our empty beer cans everywhere along the roads.

Btw, did PA ever figure out who “won” that senate election? Looking at election results today that say updated two hours ago , what am I missing? That Oz freak may have already “won”. Don’t care for the other dude but anybody but Oz!

My brother and his rugby buddies from Villanova Univ (all white) moved into a wreck of a house in the middle of abandoned properties on 63rd street in West Philly in the 70’s.
No one ever bothered them as the “neighbors” (all black) figured “deese white boys muss all be cra-cra.”
I think they may have even lowered the property values just based on the parties/booze/drugs.
Ahh, good times

Owning nothing might not be so bad for folks that worked and “planned”. I can do without property taxes and perhaps some day just hang out on an Oregon coast beach. But I’d be “responsible” ( and much fortunate) about it. Fuck things. Just at that point. 🙂

Yes ants do! Thinking of a visit to Rocky Mountain National Park, CO , while I’m not a litterer , McDonalds sacks, beer cans (only when thinking a cop is tailing) , while waiting in line to get in that park among maybe 50 vehicles, I threw a banana peel out the window while sitting in the front passenger side. In Texas fruit and vegetable scraps out the window, WTH, the ants got to eat something. Anyway, up there in CO one would have thought that banana peel was a major crime. Vehicle horns behind mine were blaring. Give me a break…banana peel out the window is not like some kind of Alaskan oil spill.

Some sad looking stuff AMERICA. Who drives those nice looking vehicles along the streets? People that “work” I guess. How does one work in that environment?

The vehicles overall look to be newer than what peeps drive here in NE Texas, generally speaking and no big deal. We bees what we bees here I guess. Oh yeah, there’s always snobs. Fuck ’em.

Jim, Pure Gold! I always enjoyed “The 30 Blocks of Squalor” series. Really sums up the state of the world, it was so very prescient. The vacation version of this article is one I would like to request for a Throwback Thursday repost. It highlighted the throngs of scooter people in pajamas eating their way down the wildwood boardwalk. If you would, keep the tragic comedy coming.

The DC Area Has the Highest Median Income in the US Again

” The population along this corridor is ignorant, dependent, and represents the dregs of our society. There is virtually no legal commerce along the squalor”

Fix this area, and the rest would fix itself.

Invocation of the Statue of Liberty at the end of this article actually sums up what has happened. This statue was a “gift” from French Freemasons to the Freemasons running the US. It has nothing to do with liberty. It is an abomination before God, an idol and false god. The author of human liberty is God, from whom our rights were derived. This is a statue of Isis, or going further back, Innana. It is goddess worship. Is it any wonder that the US has been sinking for so long? Slowly at first, but then all at once into the abyss. Turn to God. Follow His laws. The Kingdom of God is “on earth, as it is in Heaven”. Think.

Give white people bricks and they build a nation and civilized society . Give blacks a nation and civilized society and they turn it into a pile of rubble !
You did reveal the real issue (problem)
Federal Reserve fractional banking destroying the purchasing power of the currency along with parasitic government people elected , hired or appointed all owned by economic elites profiting in the wake of a misery index they created !
No more well paid blue collar jobs that made the tax base that maintained those 30 plus blocks now there is only debt piled to infinity and those suffering the most are handed the bill !
Americans know we were tossed under the bus by government for 30 pieces silver and now those profiting or unharmed from these failures want to blame us !
EAT SHIT

Deliver blacks pallets of bricks strategically placed…and you get ‘mostly peaceful’ protests. Tin snips provided for the banding, or already removed?
