Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon was sentenced to four months in jail and ordered to pay a $6,500 fine for ignoring a subpoena from the Jan. 6 select committee.
Prosecutors had sought a six-month jail sentence and a $200,000 fine for contempt of congress. He was released pending appeal, for which his lawyers say they will go all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary.
“I want to thank all you guys for coming,” Bannon said while entering the courthouse on Friday. “Remember this illegitimate regime, their judgment day is on eight November when the Biden administration ends. I want to thank you all for coming.”

Bannon, 68, was charged with two counts last November; failure to appear to give testimony, and failure to produce “documents and communications,” or “provide a log of any withheld records.”
“From the moment that the Defendant, Stephen K. Bannon, accepted service of a subpoena from the House Select Committee … he has pursued a bad-faith strategy of defiance and contempt,” reads the a Monday DOJ filing, which adds that “The defendant flouted the Committee’s authority and ignored the subpoena’s demands.”
“For his sustained, bad-faith contempt of Congress, the Defendant should be sentenced to six months’ imprisonment—the top end of the Sentencing Guidelines’ range—and fined $200,000—based on his insistence on paying the maximum fine rather than cooperate with the Probation Office’s routine pre-sentencing financial investigation.”
As we noted on Monday, it hasn’t gone unnoticed that many notables in the ‘protected class’ have been held in contempt of Congress – particularly former Obama AG Eric Holder, who refused to turn over documents related to the Fast and Furious scandal – with no such treatment.
If the left wanted to make Bannon into a political martyr, mission accomplished.

This bullshit charge may actually further his cause to get Dems out of power. Bannon is a fighter and he’ll go down swinging. I tune into his podcast occasionally and am always impressed with his energy, determination, and positivity. Things just got interesting.
Generally speaking, I like him too for the reasons you mentioned. However, when he gets into the MAGA rah rah rah stuff, I get turned off. And, I usually shut it off when Boris Epshtyn is on with his BS political propaganda.
Bannon has a dodgy past and I don’t really trust him or Trump. But it’s action against the cathedral and I do like that.

As Maggie Valley residents consider the future of Ghost Town in the Sky, with its popular and ghostly wild west theme, the elders of Asheville have decided to go ahead with ‘Woke Town by the River.’ A haunted theme park on the banks of the French Broad River (LGBTQ friendly of course). As the terror of Halloween and the midterm election approaches this is a park that is guaranteed to scare the daylights out of you and your kids. Woke Town will feature a very realistic parade of ghosts, ghouls and specters much like those featured in the Haunted Mansion in Disney World. The ghosts will be an array of frightening phantoms of those canceled by ‘Woke’ society. The Golden Golem of Mar-A-Lago will be featured moaning and tweeting madly while clanking his manacles and chains…wailing most agonizingly “Lock em up…lock em up!” Steve Bannon will be reading disturbing passages from ‘The Fourth Turning’ and Madison Cawthorn will have a starring role being pushed off of Chimney Rock by an angry mob of RINOs.
There will of course be a scary drag show for the kids that will feature an array of brave tranny legions, led by the commanding figure of double masked SECDEF Llyod Austin, defending the Capitol against the evil Jan 6th invaders who sought to snatch away our precious democracy. This army of trannies are depicted suffering heavy losses as they fought off wave after wave of evil MAGA zombies led by the horned god Wotan. But from their campfires on the mall wave upon wave of these evil creatures did fall and in the end our democracy we did defend. Asheville will honor these troops by building a new monument to their bravery where the Vance Monument once stood with a simple inscription to read “Thank you for your service.”
Finally we know that there will be a planned exhibit that will mimic the Iwo Jima memorial celebrating the defense of your right to vote. It will depict the LBJTQ flag being raised over the twisted body of Fox News host Tucker Carlson. It will show an array of gay, lesbian and other non-binary defenders who daily fight against the evil cisgnedered hordes. These brave defenders of your sacred right to pick your own pronoun will see to it that the upcoming election is as inclusive as possible. Why should anyone, whatever their pronoun, be denied the right to vote….even some of those with the ‘The Late’ pronoun. Now how could you be any more inclusive than that.
The final ending will be the commitment to keep America strong and to never again allow what happened during the insurrection of January 6th. It will feature an alliance of superheroes that will defend our democracy to the end and what a team it will be. Barack’s brain will be depicted conferring with Fetterman’s bump and John Bolton’s mustache. This will be a show for the ages to remind us what the true meaning of democracy is. With the fearful near conjunction of halloween and election day the Asheville police are expecting violent protests by the MAGA legions that are planning to come down from the mountain villages, pitchforks in hand, and though lacking the necessary funding to defend the city these brave officers will put their lives on the line to keep Asheville safe for democracy and higher taxes.
The finale will be accented by fireworks filling the mountain air while the likes of Under Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch and Colonel Alexander Vindman celebrate the new land of the free by planting a Ukrainian Flag on the summit of Mount Pisgah.
And if you thought this theme park was scary…wait till November 8th when the MAGA mob will be waiting to take our democracy away once again!
