Time For Everyone To Go Galt

An Inconvenient Revolution

It’s inconvenient when those whose sacrifices are essential to the system get fed up and find some other way to live.

Convenience isn’t just about small appliances. It’s also about ruling nations. Let’s start with the semantics of ruling nations. Some labels might be viewed as somewhat inflammatory (Kleptocracy, anyone?), so let’s stick with the neutral Ruling Order.

Some things have been extraordinarily convenient for the Ruling Order. Take the life and death of one Jeffrey Epstein, an intel “asset” who assembled a veritable goldmine of dirt on an astounding collection of bigwigs, and then became, well, inconvenient.

Very conveniently, the security camera in his cell failed, the guards dozed off and he hung himself in this fortuitous interlude. This was the acme of convenience.

Extending the Surveillance State into Big Tech’s planetary-wide social media networks was also convenient, and a bargain to boot. Instead of all that expensive stuff the Communist State in China had to pay for, America’s Ruling Order just put the squeeze on Big Tech and saved a bundle.

The Surveillance State assumes that any revolt / revolution can either be nipped in the bud by identifying foreign influences / domestic extremists, or crushed by foreknowledge of the storming of the barricades.

In conventional times, these are pretty safe assumptions. But the times are no longer conventional, and so the Ruling Order is in effect investing its treasure and confidence in fighting the last war.

It’s convenient if rebelling citizens organize themselves in visible networks and concentrate into groups that can be crushed by force. It’s inconvenient if the revolution is not neatly organized and crushable but an invisible revolution of not showing up.

In other words, a revolution of getting fed up and opting out, of finding some other way to live rather than spending 10 years paying down the student loans and another 30 years paying down the mortgage and the last few years of one’s life watching the tides of financial excess erode the sand castles of pensions and retirement.

There’s a consequential asymmetry to the inconvenience caused by people getting fed up and opting out. The average worker not showing up is consequential but not catastrophic. But when the managerial class thins out, and those doing the dirty work thin out, there are no replacements, and the system breaks down.

Few are willing to make the beds, empty the bedpans and work in slaughterhouses. When those willing to do the work nobody else wants to do quit, the system collapses. Those with higher expectations will not volunteer to do the dirty work, and many are unable to do the work even if they are willing. It’s too hard and too physically punishing. (Says a guy who’s carried stupid amounts of lumber up hillsides where no forklift could go.)

Despite what many of us may think, the majority of workers lack the experience and tools to manage complex operations. (Those of us who try soon reach our limits.) Many lack a deep enough knowledge to fix major breakdowns. When the critical operational and managerial people retire, quit, or find some other way to live, the system breaks down.

All the surveillance and all the force that the Ruling Order depends on to maintain its dominance is useless when people get fed up and quit supporting the system with their labor and their borrowing / spending. All the surveillance and facial recognition software is worthless, all the monitoring of kitten and puppy photos on social media, all the tracking of foreign influence–none of it matters any more.

It’s inconvenient when those whose sacrifices are essential to the system get fed up and find some other way to live. Yet this is the inevitable consequence of a system hopelessly corrupted by fraud, inequality and unfairness, a system rigged to benefit the few at the expense of the many. People eventually get fed up and opt out.

They don’t throw themselves on the gears of an odious system, they simply stop greasing the gears with their time, effort, experience, debt and money. It doesn’t take many opting out to trigger decay and collapse. The Pareto Distribution applies. The system can adjust to the first 4% opting out, but those consequential few trigger the decay of the commitment of the next 20%, and the system cannot survive when the 20% find some other way to live. The 80% can still be willing to grease the gears but that’s no longer enough to maintain the coherence of the system.

The asymmetry of decay and collapse is inconvenient.

OK, but go Galt in like-minded groups, but not doctrinaire ones with a charismatic “leader”. We need each other – division of labor, and all that stuff – and emotional support. Just for once, humanity, don’t devolve, yet again, into pointless groups, wherein sentient individuality is obliterated, subsuming itself to the glorification of yet another hive mind, attempting to evade self-ownership, all maintained by the threat of arbitrary force and capricious whim on the part of the leader(s), aka .gov.

Please.

Just once.

Once.

“Each man had only one genuine vocation – to find the way to himself….His task was to discover his own destiny – not an arbitrary one – and to live it out wholly and resolutely within himself. Everything else was only a would-be existence, an attempt at evasion, a flight back to the ideals of the masses, conformity and fear of one’s own inwardness.”
― Herman Hesse, “Demian”

“Every man is more than just himself; he also represents the unique, the very special and always significant and remarkable point at which the world’s phenomena intersect, only once in this way, and never again. That is why every man’s story is important, eternal, sacred; that is why every man, as long as he lives and fulfills the will of nature, is wondrous, and worthy of consideration. In each individual the spirit has become flesh, in each man the creation suffers, within each one a redeemer is nailed to the cross. ― Hermann Hesse , Demian

His least work is worthy of one’s irreplaceable life-time. Narcissus and Goldmund is especially good, too, IMHO:

“Because the world is so full of death and horror, I try again and again to console my heart and pick the flowers that grow in the midst of hell.” ― Herman Hesse, Narcissus and Goldmund

“We fear death, we shudder at life’s instability, we grieve to see the flowers wilt again and again, and the leaves fall, and in our hearts we know that we, too, are transitory and will soon disappear. When artists create pictures and thinkers search for laws and formulate thoughts, it is in order to salvage something from the great dance of death, to make something last longer than we do.”
― Hermann Hesse, Narcissus and Goldmund

“My goal is this: always to put myself in the place in which I am best able to serve, wherever my gifts and qualities find the best soil to grow, the widest field of action. There is no other goal.”
― Hermann Hesse, Narcissus and Goldmund

“O how incomprehensible everything was, and actually sad, although it was also beautiful. One knew nothing. One lived and ran about the earth and rode through forests, and certain things looked so challenging and promising and nostalgic: a star in the evening, a blue harebell, a reed-green pond, the eye of a person or a cow. And sometimes it seemed that something never seen yet long desired was about to happen, that a veil would drop from it all, but then it passed, nothing happened, the riddle remained unsolved, the secret spell unbroken, and in the end one grew old and looked cunning . . . or wise . . . and still one knew nothing perhaps, was still waiting and listening.” ― Herman Hesse, Narcissus and Goldmund

“I call that man awake who, with conscious knowledge and understanding, can perceive the deep unreasoning powers in his soul, his whole innermost strength, desire and weakness, and knows how to reckon with himself.” ― Hermann Hesse, Narcissus and Goldmund

Both of those books were powerful influences on me and a critical juncture. Siddhartha was all the rage at the time but I preferred these. However, I did like that Siddhartha ended up as a humble ferryman. Indeed, I think I’ll add them to my ship’s library.

Yes.

Few are willing to make the beds, empty the bedpans and work in slaughterhouses.

This is why they’re bringing in the new voters.

I’d like to see Charles do a compare/contrast on the water situation in Jackson, MS over the summer. As I recall the affirmative action hires said it’d take over a billion dollars to get them safe water again, then the Army Corp of Engineers came in and fixed it overnight.

How long will the woke and the aa hires keep things running? How many ACE’s are out there to ensure the utilities and transportation infrastructure keep running?

Jackson is also known for having a very corrupt (AA) government that was very good at diverting money into friendly pockets. Decades of mismanagement led to their problems with the water system and even last week, they had to go back to boiling their water due to low pressure.

ACE used to have a huge contingent in Vicksburg (50 mi. west on I-20) that dealt with flood control on the Mississippi. Field trip there in Jr. HS (mid-1960s); they had (have?) a scale model of the entire river.

Been Galt since 06. Do small odd jobs and a bit of wrenching, mostly helping out the widows in my hood.
Had a few bitch (not the widows) when I raised my auto rate to $50.00/hr, for 45 yrs of experience! F’em, take it to the dealer where they charge $120.00 for kids that watch gootube videos to ‘learn’!
Been seeking a young kid to train as a helper, for the last 10 years, still seeking.
Any in TBP community have any ideas on how to get more than .10 cents on the dollar for a lifetime collection of tools??? I’m sick and tired of fixing shit for fools that never cared to learn to change a 5 cent washer in a leaking faucet!

Working men who build and fix things are gaining status and rewards because their numbers are shrinking. I believe this is the most important interest group in the country because they are indispensable. White working men have been marginalized the most, thus are the most entitled and potentially the most powerful. If only they could be organized for non-participation……….

Do it by becoming self sufficient in small steps. Each little thing you do deprives the beast of something.

Hens lay eggs. That is pure untaxable income.

Fruit trees can be very productive depending on where you live. Canned fruit jelly, jam, and applesauce are good wholesome untaxable income.

Tomato and pepper plants are very productive, producing a variety of canned goods.

These add up to significant capital.

This is just a snap-shot – I find it’s going on all over UK – people are asking questions and voting with their feet. The Elites will end up with nobody doing anything for them and thus, as CHS says: “They don’t throw themselves on the gears of an odious system, they simply stop greasing the gears with their time, effort, experience, debt and money.”

So true BL – but centralised government has already failed which we are witnessing here in UK big-time. And yes, no money is needed – we will have local exchange systems which keep the economic returns within the locality rather than dispensing to strangers at distance to GloboCap. Already the corporations can’t get the people to work for them – this will increase in the coming years IMHO.

2023 is going to be very interesting and I am relishing the moments as our ignorant and out-of-touch House of Commons fails miserably to control the Plebs. We already have the beginnings of a General Strike in Q1 – people are voting with their feet as CHS projects;

AP-Voting with your feet and wallet is more powerful than the mouth breathers realize. The Greek villagers are so used to Greek money becoming worthless, they have a system of script issued per small village and only used in that particular village. Only a certain amount is issued and it has to be used within a certain amount of time in order to keep enough script in circulation to run business and fill the needs of the population. Works every time for them. I have script in my collection issued in the 1800’s. Is it worse to be owned by the banksters or the company store? How does the song go, “You Gotta Serve Somebody”?

Good to know BL and I know of some local towns doing similar – all essential for the local economic model to prosper and as you say, better to be served by the local independent than the Bankster’s company store which I think might have died now.

Local pounds have been tried here, often, but it needs a crisis to engage it properly – it doesn’t work in an affluent economy – I think it will come

BL , are you somewhere in greece? I’ve been around many parts of this country and neither in my native region nor in the region i live now has there ever been any scrip system as you describe. Until the 1960s or so when it was formally outlawed all accounts were reckoned in gold sovereigns and any savings or settlement was likewise in gold. After heavy official pressure to prohbit that, gold went underground as only the deepest level of savings and everything else shifted to us dollars. Only after the euro did that change. Until a few years ago when the government forced everyone to accept plastic, the only shops or businesses which did in my area were those who pandered to tourists.
In the village scene, there was and still somewhat remains the practice of a shop keeping a running tab – there were never many commercial establishments in the villages of greece anyway, and before WW1 probably almost none – which might get settled a few times a year as money came in. These days as the outside world has broken into so much of local society i know that the village’s general store , bakery, etc might keep a running tab for some people but also that they are probably losing a good chunk of that as it never gets paid in the end, providing a strong incentive to cut back on the credit. Known deadbeats find they are no longer welcome to let it slide but recovering the accumulated debt is impossible. Still there was never any scrip here.
People will, and as far back as any old timers can remember, exchange labor directly along with barter goods. This of course still goes on , ill work X days gathering your harvest and youll work X days helping me raise this wall, etc. no scrip though , thats just direct barter.
would be interesting to know in what areas there was ever scrip. In my experience if scrip would be circulated nobody would trust it.

actually, yeah! dutch oven baking is still kind of a myserious art! best ive accomplished was by putting a smaller pan inside the big dutch over and setting that off the bottom with a few forks or spoons so it doesnt touch the bottom and get burned. I keep hearing of people who baker successfully in them and can only imagine that’s with those dutch ovens with flat rimmed lids and the fire only on the top!
alas my couple of dutch ovens have slightly sloping type lids without a rim to keep the fire on. looking to find some of the more correct kinds but here in europe it seems anymore that its all chinese crap. american made stuff or older european made stuff is near impossible to find (no old tradition of dutch oven type cooking in a place like greece but it really is such a superior method!)
it’s odd that a number of the old fashioned methods for getting the most our of limited firewood, were perfected in central europe with their bitter cold winters, but never investigated at all in a place like greece where, despite mild winters relatively, we also have an extreme scarcity of firewood- the tradition has been since antiquity to just cook over a small open fire of twigs and small branches, or in ovens which while very nice, do take a shitload of fuel to come up to temperature (baking was traditionally once a week or maybe every couple weeks only, and ovens were universally built outdoors separate from the house)

Supposedly the figure is of over a third of the world’s households still cook over wood or charcoal, many of these in Latin America. That is an amazing thought to ponder. They don’t hate us for our freedom, they just want our easy, soft lifestyles. Who can blame them?
Re-read your comment, might be interesting to study about Grecian and Roman ovens back in antiquity, and how to construct one. Do know the Romans “invented” the biscuit as we think of them, so they had to have some sophisticated knowledge of ovens.
On a side note, the whole windfall word was from a tree falling during a storm so that the pheasants could collect the wood, seeing as they could not chop one down due to the fact they did not own any woods.

yeah, for sure! indeed in greece (and much of neosoviet europe) we’re back to chasing windfalls because cutting even a branch off of a tree, even a tree in your own property, is more and more prohibited by some eco-freaks (who are fine with cutting down a whole old growth forest for a tesla factory of course, or burning dozens of square miles of forest to clear land for wind turbines, thats perfectly fine by them!)
one apsect of roman and subsequently byzantine baking to take note is that in any urbanized area from a big village on up, most baking was centralized into bakeries, which were very organized into guilds etc – one of the first professions to organize into guilds as we think of the term now, smelling of the middle ages as it does, was bakers.
baking done at home was an almost exclusively rural phenomenon, city houses, even rich ones, tend not to have their own ovens. the extra heat and fire hazard was unwelcome in a mediterranean urban environment.

out in the country baking was done in ovens that any respectable house would have. double baked bread (rock hard so it’d keep a while) was much more common than fresh bread as baking was batched up to cut down on how often the oven was fueled and fired.

i have indeed studied ancient greek (to a lesser degree roman) cooking utensils. greek houses in antiquity often dont have a very distinct fireplace or hearth- maybe a corner of the main room was the place a fire was usually made in winter and in summer it was outdoors. cooking then was done with portable tools and vessels and they rarely built stoves or fireplaces as wed call them. small portable charcoal burners were used in urban areas as more convenient and more manageable than plain old fires and of course fuel was not readily available in a town, you had to buy it, so it made sense to make charcoal of it out in the land and only haul the charcoal into town.
The romans got closer to what we think of – the kind of stove banks build up in a fixed location, in a ‘kitchen’ as wed call it, with L-shaped holes passing through making essentially a rocket stove type combustion passage, those were a roman development.

in the some parts of greece a small portable oven of sorts exists – a dome or shield big enough to cover a pan or vessel with whatever one wants to bake. A fire is built (or is already burning) somewhere, the coals etc are cleared aside, the pan or whatever is placed there, the shield goes on top to cover it, and the coals etc are piled on top of that to make it into a small oven. more primitive than the dutch oven for sure. This is called a ‘gastra’ and is the same word used for any other kind of closed cooking vessel, and is also the word applied to modern things like dutch ovens.. but the word gastra is a very old word (gastronomy for example comes from that word) .

dedicated for-purpose cooking stoves though are so foriegn and new an invention that we dont even have a word for them. the word used for modern cook stoves – modern meaning wood burning type stoves like we associate with 19th century america or something- is ‘mashina’ – i.e. ‘machine’ and certainly an imported word just as it was an imported cooking arrangement. My grandparents cooked over open fires. It was a major modernization to replace the open fire with a propane burner and bottle in the 1970s. Electric stoves etc came into common vogue in the 1980s. I still in my house have a propane bottle and burner for everyday cooking, and (very rarely) might cook something in the fireplace. Anything to be baked gets taken up the street to the village bakery and baked there for a couple bucks.

Democracy creates weak men. Weak men create hard times… I could go on.

You are still very valuable. You are the guardians of a culture and living repositories of wisdom. But you guys do not have the answers we need now, so stop getting all puffed up, acting like you’re still relevant. People need to know their roles. This is a major problem with democratic, equality-minded individuals. We are not the same. I do things better than all of you put together. Some of you do things better than all other people put together. Reality is truth, and truth often hurts. Huh. something, that- no wonder alcohol has appeal.

Anyway, I genuinely wish you well. But there is not much room left for any kind of stupid in the world that is coming. Thanks for destroying beautiful things so that I was forced to become who I am in order to fix it. It wouldnt have been possible without you. Thank you, sincerely, for unintentionally making me strong enough to break the modern world, single-handedly. I could probably do it with mere words at this point. But I am terrified of what might happen afterward, and there are lots of other fears and obstacles to overcome must i always explain myself good grief. What did you do to the world? Why can’t you wipe yourself? Why must I do it? I don’t want to. You’re all lame and stupid, and I kinda don’t like you because I have to do so much, and don’t get a shred of appreciation. Now i fucking know how spiderman feels, or something.

It all sucks, none of you are capable of doing what needs to be done, and I’m the asshole for fixing YOUR mess.

Good God. No wonder the world is going to hell in a handbasket. I can’t keep dealing with such toxic things. Society is toxic. It is not healthy. YOU GUYS ENABLED AN EXTREMELY TOXIC SOCIETY, and I emerged from one of the most toxic social waste dumps, and now you demand I be normal, and fucking APPEAL to your stupid emotions, and misinformed perspectives, and be a greasy salesman in your bs Jewish world, to entice and motivate you. Ya’ll got some nerve! I’m not your puppet. I will not be controlled. I am ungovernable. I am a good person, past the rough edges. You want motivation for a better life? I cannot make you love me enough, clearly, so you will only be motivated by fear of the tsunami coming behind all of us. The collapse cannot come soon enough. Even then, you probably still won’t listen and will likely go extinct, even when I try to help you. You’re a lost cause, you know that? Assholes.

I’m the nicest guy I know. When the super nice guy becomes an asshole, something is wrong. If you are fighting the super-good nice guy, what does that make you? You’re like the guy who handcuffs the unconscious spiderman after he just lost a fight with some monster who destroyed your entire city, and you want to turn spidey in for questioning. Also, fuck superheroes comics and modern media. You are just unprecedented, and other analogies make it difficult to describe the situation.

Most of you are hopeless, and are going to die. I wish it weren’t so. My job is no longer to try to convince the ostriches with their heads in the sand. My job is to save those with the capacity to comprehend, and the will to survive. Almost nothing will be impossible, someday soon, and all of your dreams can be made real. Yeah. I’m hot shit. It’s a weird feeling. Society is totally dead to me. I need a nap or some shit. All that crying and whining. So toxic. So tiresome.

A new year is coming. A new world is coming. I know i’m excited. I can’t wait to leave whiney boomer totalfailville in the past.

Literally failed so hard, we had to burn it all to the ground, and start over. Couldnt save the progress, had to hit the fucking reset button fool. Unprecedented. Ridiculous. It’s time to move on.

I downvoted exactly none of you. I sincerely regret most of what I wrote as I used too wide of a brush.

” I sincerely regret most of what I wrote as I used too wide of a brush.”

Saved me the time of pointin’ out EXACTLY that. Kudos for the no down-vote. Pointless. @#metoo

Keep Your head down. And it will stay firmly attached.

Same. As it EVER was. “Prices subject to change without notice.”

Some veracity…”Old age and treachery will always overcome Youth and enthusiasm.” or something like that. The corollary deals with old age & wisdom.

Again, Your age is unknown. Contingent upon that?

Highly unlikely You have amassed the skills and grim determination required. While laughing Your ass off. To hopefully die of old age in Your sleep. The BEST You can hope/Pray as an end.

Obviously.

(Attempted Broad Brush Avoidance) Most Many are oblivious and clueless. History, Technical acumen, (especially in the arena that they get a check for) You name it.

ANY group of 10, occupations aside. 1, MAYBE 3 are on their game, and NEVER QUIT. Learning & Improving, Sharing/teaching those similarly inclined. Debts Owed to those who helped You.

Gray area? 40 -80% ? JUST there for a paycheck.

It’s the remainder Where the TRUE danger lies.

i’m still here. Spend an inordinate amount of time laughing.

Try it sometime, You’ll like it.

Sooner or later? You’ll start reading The Bible. In Earnest.

Actually? ’bout the ONLY thing that makes Sense.

NOT here to ‘Win’. Anything. Just try to help where i can.

What a dumb mother fucker. Looks like the only thing you are capable at is putting words together. That will come in real handy trying to survive. The golden age is just ending meaning you too had a hand in its demise. You got alllll your treats and participation trophies and now when the bill comes due, you stand there and point. Bwahaha. Let me tell you something asshole(yea go ahead and tell your mama I’m speaking to you like that, cause after all, according to you she is part of the problem), you have just as much power as each of any on us individuals have. I would really like to know what skills you have that you think that you can single handedly fix this shit show. You mention your superheroes repeatedly, makes me think you are one of those pajama wearing basement bois who will never grow up. That tells me you are a liberal idiot. If that is the case then you don’t see a problem with a fake president, travel papers, restrictions, shitty economy, shitty media, shitty academia, shitty gov agencies spying on you, so what is your bitch? Bet you can’t even change a tire but think you can change the world. Well have at it. Just beware, you make noise and they will come for you. Now lets see what you got because bitching and belly-aching get nothing done. Now that you are on the job is it safe to buy a house, go to the hospital, believe the media, send my kids to a public school, criticize the gov?

“I’m the nicest guy I know”
I think a little self reflection is in order…
Every generation has had it’s issues; the air was brown, love canal burned, & I felt for sure the Soviets were going to nuke us in the late 70’s – early 80’s but I didn’t go ranting about at my folks and grandparents
damn kid, grow a set and learn to deal with adversity because it will get worse and it will get better, but only if you do a little adulting as my daughters say

Grow a set lol. fair enuff. i triggered you guys, hit me with what youve got. I deserve it. From your perspective, it must seem nonsensical. If only you knew what I knew. I wasnt directing the comment necessarily at you guys- as most of you here are decent. My apologies for ruffling feathers, again.

Cool the engines, slow that rocket down…
Cool the engines, better take a look around…

Like minded groups are indeed the only way IMO. I would argue they are the true 4th Industrial Revolution, to the point that I believe they have the power to transcend nation states. The Parasite Class has had a good long run, time to end it.
