The Fourth Turning Has a “CliffsNotes Problem”

Few who regularly peruse these pages could have missed the high level of casual interest expressed in The Fourth Turning and in Strauss and Howe’s work generally since 2020 hit the fan. But in most corners (not on these pages, obviously), the book and its ideas continue to be mischaracterized, exaggerated, oversimplified, and stereotyped. This short episode explains why that’s a problem.

Also, “Spirited Man”?? Gimme a break.

Always a good topic. The one thing I watch for is how the generations are often pitted against each other. Divide & conquer is used here too. We will need to help the hero generation to be just that. And they in turn to help bring up and properly educate the homeland generation . We are in this shitstorm at least another 5 – 8 – 10 years.

Teach, your children well.

I wish my dad and aunt were living. They would understand.
