I was only mildly shocked by a poll in NJ published a couple weeks ago ===> almost 75% of Kneegrows in NJ think Biden is doing a good or great job. Ho Lee Fuk!! How is that even possible?? I mean low IQ can’t possibly be the sole explanation. Right? Then I read this editorial in yesterday’s NJ Shit Ledger. It explains everything. They hate us.

Black people may have to vote for Biden – again

As election season rapidly approaches there’s been much-publicized hand-wringing around Joe Biden and Kamala Harris losing the Black vote. I’d like to use this opportunity to clarify a few things for the political punditry, as well as for my fellow Black voters who, justifiably, feel jilted and disregarded by this current administration.
Many political commentators pontificate about what motivates Black voters and what trends may or may not be emerging pertaining to the 2024 elections. It seems the political punditry has an extremely short memory and demonstrates every election cycle they don’t really understand the pragmatism directing Black voters at all.
Sunday morning political news shows discuss this topic but have forgotten that Black voters were never enthusiastic about Joe Biden back in 2020 since he represents the same business-as-usual politics that ignore the plight and realities of Black people and the non-rich.
There was fair critique to be made of Biden’s tenure as a senator in Delaware prior to serving as vice president to President Obama. However, the enormous numbers that showed up for Biden-Harris in 2020, particularly in battleground states like Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Georgia was not as much a signal of support for Biden as much as a resounding repudiation of Donald Trump who resurrected a brazen era of hate for anything non-white, non-conservative “Christian”, non-straight, and non-chauvinist.
It is no coincidence that every ethnic demographic aside from a plurality of white people, especially Black men and women, recognized that a second term of Trump would have been an absolute disaster that had to be avoided at all costs.
Even if it meant standing in line for eight hours, carpooling with other people to the polls to make sure they voted, or double-checking that a Republican secretary of state didn’t excise your name off the voter registration rolls, Black people, like no one else, knew the stakes were that high. They still are.
For my fellow Black family, not named Ye, Candace Owens, Byron Donalds, Jason Whitlock, or any of the folks affiliated with Project 21, we have to recognize some extremely uncomfortable truths about both the realities and limitations of our vote.
For those with even a passing awareness of baseball, consider the operational realities of the Black vote. Great pitching, great infield and great outfield play can only limit the other team’s ability to score. Whether Mariano Rivera is on the mound, Ozzie Smith at shortstop, and Willie Mays in the outfield, no matter how good the defense is, they cannot score the points needed to win games.
The Black vote in America operates for the preservation of the policy gains that were made during the Civil Rights Movement and, ultimately, in pursuit of a more equitable society that remains elusive to the vast majority of us.
Our reliable vote pushes back against the worst inclinations of a racist, xenophobic, woman and the poor-hating Republican party. Our Black vote is preventing a Republican party that is actively trying to prevent just enough Blacks from voting. A party that legislates laws that lead directly to a Black person’s death at the hands of scared white people and forbids the teaching of anything related to Black history and LGBTQ-related content.
The same party is working to roll back child labor laws allowing children to legally put in long hours in slaughterhouses, McDonalds, and mines so that corporations can have access to the cheapest labor. A party that continues to block and prevent people from having greater access to needed healthcare.
Is Joe Biden above reproach? Absolutely not. Our folks should loudly pronounce their grievances about the Biden administration and where they feel slighted. But at the same time, we must remember what the alternative was and what that alternative still represents — a governing ideology far worse for our people, and America at large, than what we have at present.
I have full confidence that most Black voters are sophisticated enough to reconcile our current frustration with the party we propelled to the White House while also acknowledging that another Trump presidency would have been far worse.
This submission, however, was to remind the few fence-sitters and the forgetful among us about why so many voted for the Biden presidency in the first place, and why we, out of necessity, may very well have to again in 2024.

We used to go to this little rrstaurant in the Pine Barrens when we lived in NJ. The owner’s family were originally from Camden going back to the turn of the century (20th, not 21st) and the walls were covered with old photos of Camden back when it was a White city. Every marble stoop was washed clean, the magnificent brick homes lined broad streets, well kept and filled with children playing in clean clothes. It was heartbreaking kowing what it had become by then, a cesspool of crime, violence, drugs and decay, every square inch of it covered in indecipherable grafitti, the roads potholed and litter strewn, angry and indolent blacks clustered at every intersection looking for an opportunity to carjack the unwary. And every attempt to revitalize it, money poured down the drain for nothing. At one point every living former mayor was imprisoned for some kind of graft or corruption.
Amazing that we’ve lasted as long as we have.
