For the most part, it is worse than stupid.

It is denial.

For stupid people, any problem or issue can be broken down and chunked into digestible bites. Generally, stupid people eventually “get it”. The people who orchestrated this deny cynically – it is to cover their a**es.

For the majority that gave into fear, they did so with the self assurance that they were smarter than the average bear. They took precautions (accepted lockdowns, masks, social distancing, and the sh*t, (and then the sh*t again…). They did so to feel safe.

For the majority of them-those that accepted that Fauci et al were acting “with the speed of science”, they began in fear. They accepted every constraint because they gave up liberty for security and social acceptance by the “in power crowd”.

For them to now accept that they were wrong insults their own sense of intelligence; it was the college educated who accepted the constraints the most, at least till you get to PhDs (a minority over all). It was the less educated who said someth’n ain’t right. And they were right, not the greater mass of college educated.

And, if those that accepted the constraints now accept they were wrong, they must also accept that not only did they not secure themselves from what they feared, they caused more harm and even murder by reacting in fear. Their sacrifice of freedom for security did not save them from what they were afraid of. It caused harm and what they were afraid of still might be “out there” and the institutions and government they thought were good and safe and pure are in fact psychotically evil. The reason for fear goes up.

So, it is not stupidity that prevents the average COVID compliant fool (literally people who were fooled) from accepting the fact pattern for what it is. The COVID compliant cannot accept the change in worldview required to admit the magnitude of their grave costly error. They are in willful denial. Many are in hostile denial.

They do not want to accept the possibility that they harmed or killed: mom, dad, brother, sister, son, or daughter or that they increased their own risk. They will remain in denial until they are forced, like Germans paraded through concentration camps after WWII, to accept the cost of their actions. Germany prior to Hitler’s rise was one of the most educated countries on earth. In fear they plunged themselves into war. They were in violent denial. Covidians are not different. Given the opportunity their denial will be violent.
