I think it can mean to be burdened at least in colloquial use, as in ‘grin and bear it’. Borne is the past participle of bear, and the correct past-tense transitive verb.

Another HUGE reason was & is the lack of vigilance by the voting public. To a degree this is understandable because most US citizens thought they could trust the much fewer broadcasters from back in ‘the old days’.
In those days there were like three TV channels. In the early days news was much more accurate, honest and contained very little propaganda. People trusted the news. They had faith in the Fed Govt. As time passed, the news was slowly slanted & the govt. infiltrated. It took decades and added ‘news’ outlets to get the US populace propagandized. Lusting for money & power took once good men & women down as well.
Now there is a conservative turning. Is it too late?
Another huge problem was the false narrative, “voting doesn’t change anything!” So, many quit voting & the USA started a down hill slide. The lack of diligence that led to the slide was catastrophic!
So, what are each of us going to do now?
While patriots slept, the enemies of freedom were taking over school boards, state & county governments and the federal government. I say, let’s take them back.
Now that we know we fight the true enemies of life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness, they who lie cheat, steal and murder, we must be strong. Make no mistake, higher up demoncrats & fake republicans ARE our most serious threat. Without them China & other countries would not be as dangerous to US as they are now.
