FAST FOOD PRICES: GOOD NEWS OR BAD NEWS?

“In twentieth-century Old Earth, a fast food chain took dead cow meat, fried it in grease, added carcinogens, wrapped it in petroleum-based foam, and sold nine hundred billion units. Human beings. Go figure.” Dan Simmons

So everyone knows Bidenomics, in conjunction with Jerome Powell’s massive money printing, has resulted in a surge in food, energy and almost all prices. This inflation most certainly hurts the poorest people the most. Where do poor people eat? Fast food joints.

As you can see from the chart below, the top 3 fast food joints have increased their prices astronomically since 2019. Their corporate profits have been solid, as they pass their increased expenses onto the customers, with an up-charge for good measure.

An American Nobody Stares Into Mordor

By Doug “Uncola” Lynn via TheBurningPlatform.com

All throughout history stories have been told by those whose insights and experiences had inspired said stories. The bestselling book in the world, the Bible, for example, is full of stories and parables that have influenced generations. Accordingly, bloggers like me and others will often reference such narratives to utilize widely-known and commonly understood history, facts, and details to make our points.  Furthermore, these universal associations can be used as launching pads, so to speak, to expand upon other ideas and perspectives.

In my early teens, I devoured the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien and his “Lords of the Rings” series beginning with “The Hobbit” and followed by “The Fellowship of the Ring”, “The Two Towers”, and “The Return of the King”, respectively. I also read “The Silmarillion” which was a precursor to the other books and originating thousands of years before the fictional events of “The Hobbit”.

Over two decades ago, the “Fellowship of the Ring” movies were released in theaters. The original three films (“The Fellowship of the Ring”, “The Two Towers”, and “The Return of the King”) were directed by Peter Jackson and are widely considered as cinematic masterpieces today.

Seeing Clearly Through The Smoke Screen

Blurred Swirl in the Dark Smoke or Storm Clouds with Ray of the Light - Seeing Clearly Through The Smoke Screen - Miller on the MoneyGuest Post by Dennis Miller at Miller On The Money

In 1961 I was in a Marine airwing. Many of our pilots served for several years, in both WWII and Korea, yet they were classified as “reserve” officers; and could be activated or deactivated at will.

Several got screwed and were inactivated mere months before their military pension would have vested. They joined the reserves, flying on weekends to earn “reserve retirement credit points,” hoping for some sort of pension down the road.

Many Americans Say They Will Never Retire

Guest Post by Antonius Aquinas

A recent AARP poll provides further evidence of the deterioration of American living standards, especially for those approaching retirement age.  The study contradicts what most policy makers have believed to be a “soft landing” for the economy after two years of rampant inflation.

“More than one quarter of U.S. adults over the age of 59,” the survey found, “say they expect to never retire.”  One in four have no retirement savings while one third of “older adults” have credit card debt of more than $10,000 and 12% hold a balance of $20,000 or more.” The Headline of an April 25 Washington Times article by Fatima Hussein says it all: “More Than 25% of U.S. Adults Over 50 Expect Never to Retire.”*

Insect plague: This is the sound after billions of cicadas emerge in the US

Via Strange Sounds

Periodical cicadas are unique insects that have a 13-year or a 17-year life cycle, most of which they spend underground. They come to the surface in groups that scientists call broods.

Ukraine is losing, and direct intervention by the West risks a nuclear conflict – so what now?

Guest Post by Sergey Poletaev

In our last article, we analyzed Kiev’s military prospects in light of its new mobilization law. Here we consider the West’s options in the proxy war it’s using the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to fight.

Western officials have been talking about sending troops to Ukraine since the beginning of the year. French President Emmanuel Macron said that he is ready to consider “any scenario,” including a ground operation. Government officials in Estonia and Lithuania (including Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte) were quick to support him. And the Leader of the House Democratic Caucus Hakeem Jeffries became the first US politician who didn’t exclude the possibility of sending troops.

There’s nothing more dangerous on planet Earth than a cornered rat like this one

BEWARE! The ICC arrest warrant
for war criminal Netanyahu puts
the entire world at great risk……

…because the genocidal regime ruling the Zionist
State of Israel will do anything to both (i) distract
the world’s attention from this major geopolitical development and (ii) throw the entire planetary civilization into the kinetic phase of a World
War III scenario as a means
of overwhelming the
extraordinarily profound significance and far-
reaching ramifications of the ICC’s scathing
indictment alleging genocide.

All of which means ANYTHING GOES, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME, for the remainder of 2024.

Which also means that folks everywhere ought to exercise a heightened degree of situational awareness as never before.  In light of the slow-motion intensification of the Zombie Apocalypse, that’s always a good idea going forward.

The Incoming Commercial Real Estate Crisis No One Seems Prepared For

Authored by Kevin Stocklin via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours),

It has been a year since a string of U.S. regional bank failures, together with the collapse of global heavyweight Credit Suisse, caused many to fear that a major financial crisis was imminent.

But, by the summer of 2023, the panicked withdrawals by frightened depositors largely subsided.

In February, however, New York Community Bank (NYCB) appeared to resurrect the crisis when it announced $2.4 billion in losses, fired its CEO, and faced credit downgrades from rating agencies Fitch and Moodys.

In what has become a familiar tale for U.S. regional banks, NYCB’s share price plummeted by 60 percent virtually overnight, erasing billions of dollars from its market value, and its depositors fled en masse.

Anatomy of a Kangaroo Court

Guest Post by Kurt Schlichter

The Donald Trump New York City farce is on the way to being over. The prosecution (at least) rested after what would’ve been a disastrous performance by Michael Cohen in any other trial, but the standard rules don’t apply here because this is not actually a trial. This trial has nothing to do with law. It is a scummy attempt to frame a political opponent of the Democrats to keep him from winning an election against the desiccated old pervert in the White House. Normally, a jury would laugh this case out of court, except that it would never have been in court had the defendant been named Tronald Dump. Everything about it is a lie and a scam, and as soon as you understand that you will understand this disgraceful case.

Free Vodka and Beer for the Homeless in San Francisco

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

SuicideCalifornia is a socialistic cesspool of failed policies that funnel money through inefficient charities. I recently reported that the state, which boasts the largest homeless population in the United States, failed an audit that found nine agencies misused $24 billion in government funds intended to combat homelessness. Now, new reports state that San Francisco alone has been spending $5 per year on alcohol for the homeless.

Anticancer Properties of Garlic Gain New Support

Via Mercola

Story at-a-glance

  • A study published in Biomedicine and Pharmacotherapy highlights garlic’s novel phytochemicals and how they can help protect against cancer
  • When tumor cells spread in your body, cancer becomes more challenging to treat. Through its compounds, garlic can help block signaling pathways that are needed in cell migration and prevent the spread of tumor cells
  • Another study reveals that garlic can help prevent cancer from relapsing by targeting cancer stem cells (CSCs). These are the cells found within a tumor that can self-renew and turn into more cancer cells
  • The best way to enjoy fresh garlic is to eat it raw — you’ll need to crush or chop the cloves to promote the formation of allicin. Simply compress the clove with a spoon or chop it finely before swallowing

Loved by many for the distinct flavor and aroma it gives to food, garlic is one the most celebrated herbs around the world. It holds a significant place in history, and ancient civilizations valued it for its culinary and medicinal uses. Case in point — garlic was a part of the Ancient Greeks’ military diet, and soldiers were often given garlic before they were sent off to battle.1

Did The Dulles Brothers Seal Our Fate?

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

The “Soviet Threat” which became Washington’s foreign policy mindset was a self-serving creation of Allen and Foster Dulles. The consequences of their creation and its recreation by the US neoconservatives await us unaddressed.

Some years ago I reviewed Stephen Kinzer’s book, The Brothers, an extraordinary account of two men long serving at the top of the US government, Secretary of State John Foster Dulles and CIA Director Allen Dulles. Both were appointed to office by President Eisenhower. Allen Dulles was the Director of the CIA, and John Foster Dulles was the Secretary of State. The interests of the two men’s law firm became in effect the agenda of the government of the United States.

Walmart, Target Unleash Price-Cut Tsunami As Working-Poor Hit Brick-Wall

Via ZeroHedge

Some of the nation’s largest retailers are rolling back prices in response to low-income consumers hitting a proverbial brick wall. These consumers have maxed out credit card debt and drained personal savings to dangerously low levels in the era of failed Bidenomics. This also comes after an underwhelming April retail sales report and several notes from Goldman warning about faltering low-income consumers:
