Last year I finally gave in to the pressure and did a 10 Predictions for 2023 post. I’m not a huge fan of these things, but getting out of your comfort zone is never a bad thing. So, let’s look at the scorecard and update things.

Last year’s theme was “Losing My Religion.” Last year was a mess. So many of the themes I wrote about advanced significantly. So many of them caused a lot of folks to lose their religion over old narratives.

International Man: How would you summarize what you see coming in 2024?

Doug Casey: I hate to sound a pessimistic note, but you have to call them as you see them. News flash: There are storm clouds on the horizon. I’m tempted to say the presage “The Perfect Storm,” but the phrase has become hackneyed… and it understates the case. Instead, let me say I think it will be worse than even I think it could be.

The trend that’s brought us here has been building for the last hundred years. It’s been compounding upon itself, and the curve looks exponential. The only factor that gives me pause is that almost everyone now sees a tsunami coming. And reality usually confounds beliefs that “everyone” has. Perhaps The Greater Depression will just turn out to be fear porn. But that’s not how I’m betting.

2024 Is the Year of Our Reckoning

We should remember the now modern proverb of Nixon-era economic advisor Herb Stein to the effect that what cannot go on (without destroying the nation), simply will not go on.

In some sense, the country for recent years has been cruising on the fumes from prior and likely better wiser generations and institutions. In 2024, the tab for our current apathy, toxic politics, and incompetence will come due.

Top Twenty Terrible Predictions for 2024

Every year, I offer you my predictions for the coming trip around the Sun, and every year, I’m mostly wrong. Oh well. Except for my Kelly Turnbull books, I don’t pretend to be Nostradamus, and in those books, I don’t want to be Nostradamus, but unfortunately, I have been. The same is true of my new novel about a terrorist attack on America! I want to be wrong. In any case, if you predicted I would be selling my books, you got that right.

I wish I could say I think 2024 will be great for our country, but I think it will be a disaster. That’s kind of a consequence of electing a desiccated old pervert as our alleged president and backing him up with a halfwit who makes Nikki Haley look smart. By the way, Nikki, the answer is “slavery.”

CORRUPTION, CHAOS, CONFLICT – FOURTH TURNING ERUPTS IN 2024

Thomas Paine wrote these words 247 years ago, in the most historic year in our history – 1776. That was during the first American Fourth Turning. It’s not a coincidence we are now in the midst of our fourth Crisis period in U.S. history, as they arrive like clockwork every 80 years or so, the length of a long human life. Paine’s American Crisis began in 1773, ignited by the Boston Tea Party and the British reaction to this revolutionary act of defiance. Our current Millennial Crisis was triggered by the Federal Reserve/Wall Street/Government created financial disaster in 2008 and subsequent outrageously desperate, totalitarian, un-Constitutional, extreme acts designed to keep the ruling class in power, while impoverishing and enslaving the masses in a surveillance state techno-gulag.

Do You Dare Even Look? — Forecast 2024

Historians of the future, flash-frying peccary testicles and mesquite pods over their campfires, will wonder at how the archetypal Shining City on a Hill of America’s storied yesteryear got transformed into the roach motel that our country has become on the threshold of 2024 CE. Will they be as stupidly bewildered as, in our time, the faculty at Harvard, the editors of The New York Times, or the directorate of the CDC? Or will they figure out the score by then?

Which is: the nauseating state-of-the-nation is being driven by a cohort of our own fellow citizens lost in an evil crypto-religious salvation rapture that veils their own self-disgust, moral failure, peevish discontents, petty hatreds, willful profanations, compulsive lying, sexual depravity, fraudulence, venality, cupidity, and all-around wont of boundaries. They are wrecking the country on-purpose, led by their chosen figurehead avatar, “Joe Biden” and the horses of many different colors he rode in on.
