SOCIETAL COLLAPSE

Anyone interested in understanding the mechanics of human history must first and foremost understand the cycles of Nature and the nature of living things. There exist a balance in every closed system; creation and dissolution, growth and decay, life and death. There is no escape from this dynamic, no means by which one can exist without the other. Sometimes societies ascend, but eventually, over time, they collapse.

Seeing Cycles Everywhere Around Us

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

For years, it has been a sort of family joke that I view the world around me and see the cycles in everything. I had walked into a casino and noticed there were cycles to the numbers coming out on a roulette wheel, but more fascinating was that the cycles were unique to each dealer. This is why casinos rotate the dealers from table to table. I notice this particular dealer was very cyclical one night so when the casino moved him, I closed and followed him to the next table. This was back around 1971, and I was winning a lot so people began watching me. Some very big player from Texas came and sat beside me and whatever I played he did too. We made so much money they closed the casino. Whenever I would walk into a casino and start to play roulette, within 30 minutes they came to me and asked my name and would always say we recognize you as a player. I would cash out and just leave.

Understanding Cycles

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

Society in the West is blocked mentally. The primary distinction remains the assumption that the world is linear, which is completely wrong for it is cyclical. Take global warming. The analysis being applied is absolutely absurd. Scientific methodology is one of unbiased inquiry based upon reason supported by evidence and collective investigation. Global warming has none of that and it is simply propagated as a belief. They refuse to demonstrate how the climate has changed for thousands of years. The latest claim is that the extremely cold winters are also caused by C02 without any evidence to show such historical volatility and Co2. They just make it up and nobody asks to see the proof.

Armstrong On Why Cycles Exist

Toast-of-NY

Western culture is prejudiced for we think everything is a straight line. My introduction to cycles was actually in high school. The teacher brought in a movie we were to watch in class the Toast of New York. This was about the Jim Fisk manipulation of gold in 1869. In the movie they said gold reached $162. I thought that was just Hollywood. It bothered me so I was compelled to go to the library and look it up in the newspapers on film back then. Low and behold, there it was the quote of $162. I knew gold was $35. Suddenly the world was not a straight line (I highly recommend watching this movie).

The Future is Not as Dark As it Seems

sun-rise

I took this picture at the beach. At first glance, it is hard to tell if it is a sunrise or a sunset. For the record, it was a sunrise – the dawn of a new day. What we face can be disastrous but it also can be the dawn of a new era. Government is our worst enemy because it refuses to relinquish power to save society. Like Hillary – it’s always just about them.

This Presidential election has exposed the tremendous deep divide of the nation and the world for that matter. We are headed into the eye of the storm in this battle between left and right. The left is all about punishing people who have more. They are really the people who would break into your house and rob you under the pretense that they deserve it because you have cheated them in some way. This uprising always comes from the left; i.e. China, Russia, and Europe. The uprisings that spring from the general population are directed at government and not the rich class warfare stuff. Those are the revolutions such as the American and French of the 18th century.

LOOK!!! UP IN THE SKY

I don’t know anything about Martin Armstrong’s model. It is evidently an investment timing model based cycles he has figured out over time. His cycles seem to be in sync with the Fourth Turning cycle. The Fourth Turning regeneration moment has yet to occur. Armstrong’s model predicts a major crash sometime around September 2015 which will begin a dangerous phase that will begin the violent portion of this Fourth Turning. Nothing gets resolved until the 2020’s. Humans never change. The human life cycle never changes. Human faults and strengths never change. The human need to be part of the herd never changes. The fact that the herd is always wrong is always ignored by the majority until it is too late. Humans never learn.

“That men do not learn very much from the lessons of history is the most important of all the lessons that history has to teach.” – Aldous Huxley

Milgram-Experiment

We all have our individual cycles of life. As we grow older we hopefully learn from our mistakes. We will buy the high as we get caught up and see the herd is all buying and that creates confidence to rush in and buy the high. If you are smart, you will then realize that the herd is always wrong. With experience, you will become the person who sells the high when the others rush in to buy the top. We are hard-wired to also act as a herd and some of us will never learn, which is the majority. In 1968, the social psychologists Stanley Milgram, Leonard Bickman, and Lawrence Berkowitz decided to test the herd instinct in humans and put a single person on a street corner and had him look up at an empty sky for sixty seconds. A tiny fraction of the passing pedestrians stopped to see what the guy was looking at, but most just walked past. Next time around, the psychologists put five skyward-looking men on the corner. This time, four times as many people stopped to gaze at the empty sky. When the psychologists put fifteen men on the corner, 45 percent of all passers by stopped, and increasing the cohort of observers yet again made more than 80 per cent of pedestrians tilt their heads and look up.
