Ron Paul: “Lessons From Paris”

After the tragic shooting at a provocative magazine in Paris last week, I pointed out that given the foreign policy positions of France we must consider blowback as a factor. Those who do not understand blowback made the ridiculous claim that I was excusing the attack or even blaming the victims. Not at all, as I abhor the initiation of force. The police blaming victims when they search for the motive of a criminal.

The mainstream media immediately decided that the shooting was an attack on free speech. Many in the US preferred this version of “they hate us because we are free,” which is the claim that President Bush made after 9/11. They expressed solidarity with the French and vowed to fight for free speech. But have these people not noticed that the First Amendment is routinely violated by the US government? President Obama has used the Espionage Act more than all previous administrations combined to silence and imprison whistleblowers. Where are the protests? Where are protesters demanding the release of John Kiriakou, who blew the whistle on the CIA use of waterboarding and other torture? The whistleblower went to prison while the torturers will not be prosecuted. No protests.

If Islamic extremism is on the rise, the US and French governments are at least partly to blame. The two Paris shooters had reportedly spent the summer in Syria fighting with the rebels seeking to overthrow Syrian President Assad. They were also said to have recruited young French Muslims to go to Syria and fight Assad. But France and the United States have spent nearly four years training and equipping foreign fighters to infiltrate Syria and overthrow Assad! In other words, when it comes to Syria, the two Paris killers were on “our” side. They may have even used French or US weapons while fighting in Syria.

Beginning with Afghanistan in the 1980s, the US and its allies have deliberately radicalized Muslim fighters in the hopes they would strictly fight those they are told to fight. We learned on 9/11 that sometimes they come back to fight us. The French learned the same thing last week. Will they make better decisions knowing the blowback from such risky foreign policy? It is unlikely because they refuse to consider blowback. They prefer to believe the fantasy that they attack us because they hate our freedoms, or that they cannot stand our free speech.

Perhaps one way to make us all more safe is for the US and its allies to stop supporting these extremists.

Another lesson from the attack is that the surveillance state that has arisen since 9/11 is very good at following, listening to, and harassing the rest of us but is not very good at stopping terrorists. We have learned that the two suspected attackers had long been under the watch of US and French intelligence services. They had reportedly been placed on the US no-fly list and at least one of them had actually been convicted in 2008 of trying to travel to Iraq to fight against the US occupation. According to CNN, the two suspects traveled to Yemen in 2011 to train with al-Qaeda. So they were individuals known to have direct terrorist associations. How many red flags is it necessary to set off before action is taken? How long did US and French intelligence know about them and do nothing, and why?

Foreign policy actions have consequences. The aggressive foreign policies of the United States and its allies in the Middle East have radicalized thousands and have made us less safe. Blowback is real whether some want to recognize it or not. There are no guarantees of security, but only a policy of non-intervention can reduce the risk of another attack.

Diversity: Koom. Bah. Humbug

Regarding the unsurprising slaughter in Paris:

Diversity is a disaster. Why people cannot see this is a mystery. A country can ignore an unfortunate reality, but it cannot ignore the consequences of ignoring it. Why governments allow and even encourage immigration of incompatible populations is a greater mystery. Few things cause more misery, hatred, death, and destruction than does diversity. One may wish it were not so, but it is so.

Some examples of diversity: Chechens and Russians. Irish Catholics and Irish Protestants. Tamils and Sinhalese. French and Moslems. Dutch and Moslems. Swedes and Moslems. Germans and Moslems. Turks and Armenians. Whites and blacks in South Africans. Ugandans and Indians. Cambodians and Vietnamese. Blacks, whites, and browns in the United States. Jews and Germans. Jews and the rest almost everywhere. Hindus and Moslems. Sunnis and Shias. Turks and Kurds. Tutsis and Hutus. Moslems and Israelis in Palestine.

Note that most of these have caused horrendous bloodshed. Diversity doesn’t work, as a rule catastrophically. Why would any country deliberately seek more of it?

If you point this out, the responses are automatic. “I know some really nice Mexicans/blacks/Moslems etc.” Or “Most Catholics/Protestants/Hindus aren’t terrorists.” True, well, and good. And irrelevant. There were really nice Germans and Jews in the Third Reich. How much did that help?

As a species we do not like diversity, though we may think that we should. People want to be with others like themselves. Difference breeds suspicion, friction arises,and the depraved or disagreeable nature of the other group is blamed.

Distaste for diversity of almost any kind runs through societies. Liberals associate chiefly with liberals, conservatives with conservatives, military people with military people, the rich with the rich, the highly intelligent with the highly intelligent, the young with the young. We may tolerate others if the distinctions are not too great, or if we are not forced into excessive contact. For example, while the Chinese in America are superficially very different from Euro-Americans, they are quiet, courteous, law-abiding, and studious, so little antagonism occurs. But the potential is there, as when they greatly outperform whites academically.

Men of all groups object to marriage of their women to other groups. The women are somewhat less clannish, more willing to marry out-of-group. This can cause bloodshed.

Defending free speech and free press rights, which typically means defending the right to disseminate the very ideas society finds most repellent, has been one of my principal passions for the last 20 years: previously as a lawyer and now as a journalist. So I consider it positive when large numbers of people loudly invoke this principle, as has been happening over the last 48 hours in response to the horrific attack on Charlie Hebdo in Paris.

Usually, defending free speech rights is much more of a lonely task. For instance, the day before the Paris murders, I wrote an article about multiple cases where Muslims are being prosecuted and even imprisoned by western governments for their online political speech – assaults that have provoked relatively little protest, including from those free speech champions who have been so vocal this week.

I’ve previously covered cases where Muslims were imprisoned for many years in the U.S. for things like translating and posting “extremist” videos to the internet, writing scholarly articles in defense of Palestinian groups and expressing harsh criticism of Israel, and even including a Hezbollah channel in a cable package. That’s all well beyond the numerous cases of jobs being lost or careers destroyed for expressing criticism of Israel or (much more dangerously and rarely) Judaism. I’m hoping this week’s celebration of free speech values will generate widespread opposition to all of these long-standing and growing infringements of core political rights in the west, not just some.

Central to free speech activism has always been the distinction between defending the right to disseminate Idea X and agreeing with Idea X, one which only the most simple-minded among us are incapable of comprehending. One defends the right to express repellent ideas while being able to condemn the idea itself. There is no remote contradiction in that: the ACLU vigorously defends the right of neo-Nazis to march through a community filled with Holocaust survivors in Skokie, Illinois, but does not join the march; they instead vocally condemn the targeted ideas as grotesque while defending the right to express them.But this week’s defense of free speech rights was so spirited that it gave rise to a brand new principle: to defend free speech, one not only defends the right to disseminate the speech, but embraces the content of the speech itself. Numerous writers thus demanded: to show “solidarity” with the murdered cartoonists, one should not merely condemn the attacks and defend the right of the cartoonists to publish, but should publish and even celebrate those cartoons. “The best response to Charlie Hebdo attack,” announced Slate’s editor Jacob Weisberg, “is to escalate blasphemous satire.”

Some of the cartoons published by Charlie Hebdo were not just offensive but bigoted, such as the one mocking the African sex slaves of Boko Haram as welfare queens (left). Others went far beyond maligning violence by extremists acting in the name of Islam, or even merely depicting Mohammed with degrading imagery (above, right), and instead contained a stream of mockery toward Muslims generally, who in France are not remotely powerful but are largely a marginalized and targeted immigrant population.But no matter. Their cartoons were noble and should be celebrated – not just on free speech grounds but for their content. In a column entitled “The Blasphemy We Need,” The New York Times‘ Ross Douthat argued that “the right to blaspheme (and otherwise give offense) is essential to the liberal order” and “that kind of blasphemy [that provokes violence] is precisely the kind that needs to be defended, because it’s the kind that clearly serves a free society’s greater good.” New York Magazine‘s Jonathan Chait actually proclaimed that “one cannot defend the right [to blaspheme] without defending the practice.” Vox’s Matt Yglesias had a much more nuanced view but nonetheless concluded that “to blaspheme the Prophet transforms the publication of these cartoons from a pointless act to a courageous and even necessary one, while the observation that the world would do well without such provocations becomes a form of appeasement.”

SOUND & FURY SIGNIFYING NOTHING

The politicians fear for their power, status, control, and wealth. Rallies, marches, fiery speeches, platitudes, and propaganda are nothing but sound and fury, signifying nothing. The murders of 17 people in France will be used by politicians and government control freaks to further reduce our freedoms and liberties. The fact that 21 people are shot on average every three days in Chicago doesn’t enter the picture. Our controllers seek more control over our lives. Maybe more gun controls will fix the problem. Didn’t the terrorists know that automatic weapons are illegal in France? 

This Fourth Turning is rapidly intensifying. The right wing party in France will now gain more supporters. Germany and Sweden are powder kegs. The next leg down in this global debt crisis will ignite the most violent portion of this Fourth Turning. Then the sound, fury, blood, and death will signify something. The sweeping away of the existing social order.

In a bold show of unity in the face of global terrorism, millions are rallying across France. World leaders converged on Paris to join the participants. Hundreds of thousands are also marching in a number of French cities on Sunday.

The Sunday rally, dubbed a “cry for freedom”, will commemorate the victims of the Charlie Hebdo massacre and comes after three days of standoffs and hostage situations, with one terror suspect still on the run. Latest reports, however, indicate the suspected woman might have been in Syria at the time of the attacks, which took 17 lives, journalists and policemen among them.

FRANCE LOVES THEIR MUSLIMS

I wonder what the results would be after this week? Civil chaos is coming. Europe first. Then China. And eventually the U.S. Fourth Turnings always intensify.

According to a poll conducted by Pew Research well before Wednesday’s suspected Islamic terror attack on the offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris, French views of Muslim minorities are overwhelmingly positive. In fact, out of all Europeans, the French view Muslims in their country the most favorably.

France has a sizable Muslim population, estimated at around 6 million, making up 10 percent of the country’s population. 72 percent of respondents indictated they view Muslim communities favorably compared to 27 percent viewing them unfavorably. This positivity is in stark contrast to Poland, Greece and Italy where less than half those polled viewed Muslim communities in their countries favorably. Italians proved the most critical of all Europeans. Just 28 percent of them viewed Muslims favorably with 63 percent stating they have an unfavorable view.

BREAKING NEWS: THE FRENCH HAVE SURRENDERED TO THE TWO TERRORISTS

Despite having the two terrorists trapped in a building and surrounded by thousands of French police and military units, the French leader Hollande has decided it is best to surrender to the terrorists. ISIS will be entering Paris later today, driving U.S. military tanks and other assorted armored vehicles taken from the highly trained Iraqi Army. Obama has announced he fully supports the new French regime and will be sending a $200 billion aid package so that Muslims will like America. Stay tuned for further details.

 

French Police In Standoff With Besieged Murder Suspects Who Are “Ready To Die As Martyrs” – Live Webcast

After evading the French police for nearly three days, a few hours ago the Charlie Hebdo murder suspects were cornered in an industrial building near Charles de Gaulle airport in the town of Dammarin-en-Goelle, 26 miles northeast of paris and 8 miles away from the airport, where they are said to have taken a hostage. Heavily armed police blocked approaches to the town and helicopters hovered in the fog overhead. Agence France-Presse said the men have taken a hostage. According to reports, the suspects have established police contact with the police and have said they are ready to “die as martyrs.

A quick recap of the situation from SkyNews:

  • Suspects holed up on an industrial estate in Dammartin-en-Goele, 27 miles from the heart of Paris, with one person held hostage.
  • They was a police chase and shootout after they earlier stole a car and fled on the N2 road.
  • Up to 1,500 police – including swat teams, snipers and helicopters – are at the scene as negotiations go on.
  • Residents told to stay indoors, stay away from windows and turn off lights.
  • The brothers, Said and Cherif Kouachi, have reportedly said they are prepared to die as martyrs.
  • Officials say the killing of a female police officer yesterday is linked to the Charlie Hebdo massacre.

Anecdotal reports have said some overflights are being diverted and runways at CDG airport may have been closed.

 

More details:According to Bloomberg, the two men are holed up at a commercial printing business on the edge of the town, opposite a logistics site operated by grocer Carrefour SA. The town council asked residents to stay home in a statement on its website, and said students were confined to their schools. At Charles de Gaulle, France’s main international airport, operator Aeroports de Paris said flights were being re-routed around the area.

The REAL Threat to Our Liberty…

Dear Diary,

As predicted, US stocks rose yesterday. The Dow shot up 213 points, or 1.2%.

Investors bought the dip, as they have been programmed to do.

The flow of credit will not dry up, they believe; the “Empire of Debt” will not falter.

Practically every day in these Diary entries we mock investors, Democrats, Republicans, teetotalers, terrorists, anti-terrorists, economists… and almost everyone else.

We are equal opportunity mockers – insensitive to race, color, creed or body-fat ratio.

The mocked have only menaced us twice.

Once, a journalist went off his head and sent a letter threatening to murder one of our children. We knew the sender personally; we judged him incapable of the act and recommended medical treatment.

The second time was in 2003. When we mocked President G.W. Bush’s attack on Iraq, a dear reader held his own tribunal and found us guilty of treason – a crime, he said, that should be punished by death.

Again, we brushed it off and continued making fun of the warmongers.

We mock people. But we do not mock their gods. Who knows?

Why take the chance?

Mocking the Gods

Yesterday, mocking gods proved fatal to the staff at Charlie Hebdo, the Paris-based satirical newspaper.

And today, all Christendom is in indignant mourning and solemn outrage.

Our own hardened, satirical, cynical, ironical heart sinks in sympathy and solidarity.

“Satirist down!” screams the alarm in our own head. Duck!

We say a prayer for ourselves… for the victims in Paris… and all the innocents in schools… churches… newspapers… banks… public and private spaces… rich and poor… droned… blown up… or gunned down by self-righteous world improvers all over the planet.

But the planet spins. And the media puts on its own spin.

It has picked up the discourse of the very same George W. Bush… and flatters the perps.

They are to be pursued not as the murderous clowns they are, but as soldiers.

The threat to our liberty, say our leaders and the press, comes from this tiny army of delusional fanatics, not from the very real armies – TSA, NSA, FBI, CIA, FDA, SEC, etc. – that pretend to suppress them.

A War on Freedom?

And so, we raise our heads again to mock our brethren in the Fourth Estate… their masters… and their customers.”The War on Freedom,” screams the headline in British newspaper the Daily Mail. And all over the blog-TV-newspaper-o-sphere the need to fight this “war.”

French politician Jacques Myard said, “We are at war… the Western nations – like Britain, France and Germany.”

People come to think what they must think when they must think it.

The US heads a global credit-fueled empire, a successor to the British, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Holy Roman, Roman, Mongol, Arab, Persian – and all the other empires.

So its opinion leaders must lead opinions in a direction that confirms and justifies the imperial narrative. It is a coalition empire at war with barbarians.

France’s president, François Hollande, described the attack as an “act of exceptional barbarity.”

But killing people is hardly exceptional – neither for the empire nor its enemies. It is routine. And great empires follow their well-trodden paths, too, no matter what mockery they encounter.

That path leads in a familiar direction – freedom of speech is chilled.

But we know of no instances in which foreign enemies put it on ice. Usually, it is the empire’s own bureaucrats, snoops and protectors who do the chilling.

And that cooling is already under way. So sayeth a report published Monday by the international literary association and defender of free speech PEN American:

Writers are reluctant to speak about, write about or conduct research on topics that they think may draw government scrutiny.

This has a devastating impact on freedom of information as well: If writers avoid exploring topics for fear of possible retribution, the material available to readers – particularly those seeking to understand the most controversial and challenging issues facing the world today – may be greatly impoverished.

The US is an empire. Left and right… red states, blue states… black-and-blue states… the First, Second, Third and Fourth estates… must all think like imperialists.

That is, like blockheads.

RELIGION OF PEACE STRIKES AGAIN

I wonder how this will be used to take away more of my liberty and freedom. I thought gun laws in France were really tough. Maybe they should make them tougher. Then the terrorists wouldn’t shoot anyone with AK-47s. Get ready for Obama and DHS to warn of impending attacks in the U.S. The economy is imploding, they need a new distraction. “It’s A Butchery” – 12 Killed In Terrorist Attack On French Satirical Magazine Charlie Hebdo: Live Webcast

A tragedy is unfolding in Paris at the moment where armed men stormed the Paris offices of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo on Wednesday morning, killing “at least 12 people” and injuring more, said a police officer. As a reminder, it was in November 2011 when the Charlie Hebdo’s headquarters were gutted by fire, hours before a special issue of the weekly featuring the Prophet Muhammad appeared on newsstands. Since then, the weekly moved to a new location, which was guarded by police, who were also shot at Wednesday morning. The shooters opened fire inside the magazine’s offices using automatic AK-47 rifles before fleeing, said the officer, cited by the WSJ. The attackers, described as “a commando with Kalasnikov and pump action… they went in there to kill” are believed to still be at large as France is “in shock” according to its president.

Masked gunmen stormed the offices of a French satirical newspaper Wednesday, killing 11 people before escaping, police and a witness said. The weekly has previously drawn condemnation from Muslims.

 

French President Francois Hollande called the slayings a terrorist attack and said that several other terror attacks have been thwarted “in recent weeks.”

 

Xavier Castaing, head of communications for the Paris police prefecture, confirmed the deaths in the shooting at the offices of Charlie Hebdo, a satirical weekly that been repeatedly threatened for publishing caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad, among other controversial sketches.

 

Hollande rushed to the scene and top government officials planned an emergency meeting.

 

Luc Poignant, an official of the SBP police union, said the attackers escaped in two vehicles.

 

A witness to the attack, Benoit Bringer, told the iTele network he saw multiple masked men armed with automatic weapons at the newspaper’s office in central Paris.

In this video one can hear gun shots as the commentator remarks it is an automatic weapon. A woman can be seen running down the street and diving for cover between two cars.

As Guardian’s Alexandra Topping writes: “The journalist Martin Boudot, from the Premières Lignes agency, has posted this video from the roof of a building situated close to the Charlie Hebdo building. we can hear gunshots and voices who cry ‘Allahu akbar’. In the distance we can see at least two people who appear to be fleeing.

Other newspapers in Paris have been placed under police protection, according to Le Monde.

A French police official says 11 people are dead in a shooting at a satirical weekly newspaper in central Paris.

 

Xavier Castaing, head of communications for the Paris police prefecture, confirmed the deaths.

 

French President Francois Hollande was headed to the scene of Wednesday’s shooting at Charlie Hebdo, a satirical weekly that has drawn repeated threats for its caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed, among other controversial sketches.

Hollande’s full statement:

Francois Hollande has been speaking to the media. He said that 11 people had been killed and four people seriously injured but 40 people had been rescued.

 

Hollande said that the security level had been increased in Paris and a number of terrorist plots had been foiled in recent weeks.
An emergency meeting will be held at the Elysees Palace in the next hour.

 

Hollande said France had experienced “an exceptional act of barbarism committed against a newspaper”.

 

France was facing a “shock”, he added. “We need to show we are a united country,” he said.

 

France had to be “firm and strong” adding: “We will fight these threats and we will punish the attackers.”

 

France had been targeted because it was a country of freedom but no one would be allowed to go against “the spirit of the republic” in this way.

More on the controversial history of Charlie Hebdo via the Guardian:

Charlie Hebdo has a long record of taking its satire seriously. The weekly magazine’s response to previous efforts at intimidation was to be even more controversial or outrageous, defying the constraints of religious sensitivity or political correctness.

 

In November 2011, its offices were fire-bombed after it had published a special edition, supposedly guest-edited by the Prophet Mohammed and temporarily renamed ‘Charia Hebdo’. The cover was a cartoon of Mohammed threatening the readers with ‘a hundred lashes if you don’t die laughing’.

 

The petrol bomb attack completely destroyed the Paris offices, the magazine’s website was hacked and the staff were subjected to death threats. But six days later, it published a new front page depicting a male Charlie Hebdo cartoonist passionately kissing a bearded Muslim man in front of the charred aftermath of the bombing. French President Francois Hollande is wary of the impact economic crisis in Russia might have on Europe. He has called for sanctions imposed against Moscow to be lifted as soon as there’s progress in peace talks over Ukraine.

If Russia has a crisis, it is not necessarily good for Europe,” Hollande said during a two-hour interview with radio station France Inter. “I’m not for the policy of attaining goals by making things worse, I think that sanctions must stop now.

Hollande said he wanted to make sure there’s progress in peace talks over the situation in Ukraine, before putting an end to sanctions.

He said he hopes to see signs of mutual understanding at the January 15 talks in Astana, Kazakhstan. The meeting is being organized by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, and Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel are expected to be among the participants.

Moscow has repeatedly said it was doing all in its power to facilitate the peace process in eastern Ukraine. A major breakthrough was achieved during September’s Minsk peace talks, brokered by Russia.

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has sarcastically described western sanctions, also announced in September, as “a ‘reward’ for Russia’s role in the Minsk agreements and more generally for its part in organizing the meeting.”

Another round of peace talks in Minsk took place in December. The negotiations, which brought no breakthrough in the crisis, were overshadowed by Ukrainian parliament voting to revoke the country’s “nonaligned” status, paving its way for closer ties with NATO and eventual full membership.

Hollande said he understands that Kiev’s striving for NATO membership can hardly contribute to the peace process.

Mr. Putin does not want to annex eastern Ukraine. I am sure. He told me so,” Hollande told France Inter. “What he wants is to remain influential. What Mr. Putin wants is that Ukraine does not become a member of NATO. The idea of Mr Putin is not to have an army at Russia’s borders.”

The Ukrainian crisis has strained relations between Russia and France, with Paris putting on hold the delivery of Mistral helicopter-carrying amphibious assault ships to Moscow.

Hollande decided to suspend the delivery of the first such ship “until further notice” in late November, despite the fact that the move might hit the French economy hard.

France is facing a multibillion-dollar fine if it fails to deliver the ships under the terms of the contract. The delay of the warships’ delivery has also reportedly entailed additional costs for Paris.

The surreal nature of this world as we enter 2015 feels like being trapped in a Fellini movie. The .1% party like it’s 1999, central bankers not only don’t take away the punch bowl – they spike it with 200 proof grain alcohol, the purveyors of propaganda in the mainstream media encourage the party to reach Caligula orgy levels, the captured political class and their government apparatchiks propagate manipulated and massaged economic data to convince the masses their standard of living isn’t really deteriorating, and the entire façade is supposedly validated by all-time highs in the stock market. It’s nothing but mass delusion perpetuated by the issuance of prodigious amounts of debt by central bankers around the globe. And nowhere has the obliteration of a currency through money printing been more flagrant than in the land of the setting sun – Japan. The leaders of this former economic juggernaut have chosen to commit hara-kiri on behalf of the Japanese people, while enriching the elite, insiders, bankers, and their global banking co-conspirators.

Japan is just the point of the global debt spear in a world gone mad. Total world debt, excluding financial firms, now exceeds $100 trillion. The worldwide banking syndicate has an additional $130 trillion of debt on their insolvent books. As if this wasn’t enough, there are over $700 trillion of derivatives of mass destruction layered on top in this pyramid of debt. Just five Too Big To Trust Wall Street banks control 95% of the $302 trillion U.S. derivatives market. The reason Jamie Dimon and the rest of the leaders of the Wall Street criminal syndicate commanded their politician puppets in Congress to reverse the Dodd Frank rule on separating derivatives trading from normal bank lending is because these high stakes gamblers want to shift their future losses onto the backs of middle class taxpayers – again. The bankers, with the full support of their captured Washington politicians, will abscond with the deposits of the people to pay for their system destroying risk taking, just as they did in 2008 by holding taxpayers hostage for a $700 billion bailout.

Only the ignorant, intellectually dishonest, employees of the Deep State, CNBC cheerleaders for the oligarchy, or Ivy League educated Keynesian loving economists choose to be willfully ignorant regarding the true cause of the 2008 implosion of the worldwide financial system. The immense expansion of credit in the U.S. from 2000 through 2008 was created, encouraged, supported and sustained by Alan Greenspan, Ben Bernanke and their cohorts at the Federal Reserve through their reckless lowering of interest rates and abdication of regulatory oversight, as their owner banks committed the greatest financial control fraud in world history. Total credit market debt in the U.S. grew from $25 trillion in 2000 (already up 100% from $12.5 trillion in 1990) to $53 trillion by 2008.

The bankers, politicians, mainstream media corporations, and mega-corporations that run the show lured Americans into increasing their credit card, auto loan, and student loan debt from $1.6 trillion in 2000 to $2.7 trillion in 2008, while extracting over $600 billion of phantom home equity from their McMansions. And it was all spent on things they didn’t need, produced in Chinese slave labor factories. The mal-investment boom was epic and the collapse in 2008 would have purged the bad debt, punished the risk takers, bankrupted the criminal banks, reset the financial system, and taught generations a lesson they needed to learn – excess debt kills. Instead of voluntarily abandoning the madness of never ending credit expansion and accepting the consequences of their folly, the world’s central bankers and captured politician hacks chose to save bankers, billionaires, and the ruling elite at the expense of the common people.

The false storyline of government austerity continues to be peddled to the public, but is nothing but pablum served to the mentally infantile masses, while the criminals continue to manufacture debt out of thin air, pillage the wealth of the working class, gamble recklessly knowing it’s with taxpayer funds, debase their currencies in an effort to make their debts easier to service, and enrich themselves and their cohorts, while impoverishing the little people. Consumer credit card debt peaked at $1.02 trillion in mid-2008. After hundreds of billions in bad debt write-offs by the Wall Street banks and shifted to the taxpayer, the American consumer has purposefully avoided running up credit card debt on Chinese produced crap, despite the urging of bankers, the mainstream media and politicians to revive our warped, debt laden, consumption dependent economy. Credit card debt is currently $140 billion BELOW levels in 2008, despite the never ending propaganda about an economic and jobs recovery. The fake Wall Street created housing recovery is confirmed by the fact mortgage debt outstanding is $1.4 trillion LOWER than 2008 heights and mortgage applications are hovering at 1999 levels.

Where Americans were in control and understood the consequences of their actions, they willingly reduced their debt based consumption. This was unacceptable to the powers that be at the Federal Reserve, in the banking sector, consumption dependent mega-corporations, and their government puppets on a string. The government took complete control of the student loan market and used their ownership of the largest auto lender – Ally Financial (aka GMAC, aka Ditech, aka Rescap) to dole out subprime auto loans and subprime student loans at a prodigious rate. The Wall Street banks joined the party, with assurance from Yellen and the Obama administration their future losses would be covered.

The Greenspan/Bernanke/Yellen Put lives on. So, while credit card debt is 14% below 2008 levels, student loan and auto loan debt has soared by 47%, up $769 billion from its early 2010 lows. The Fed and their government minions have desperately accelerated their credit expansion in a futile effort to revive our moribund, debt saturated, welfare/warfare empire of delusion. After temporarily plateauing at $52 trillion in 2010, the acceleration of consumer credit, issuance of corporate debt to fund stock buybacks, and of course the $5 trillion added to the National Debt by Obama, have driven total credit market debt to an all-time high of $58 trillion. In addition, the Fed expanded their balance sheet by $3.6 trillion through their various QE schemes, funneling the interest free funds to their Wall Street owners to create the illusion of economic recovery through a stock market surge. The .1% never had it so good.

Of course, the U.S. has not been alone in attempting to cure a disease caused by excessive debt by issuing trillions in new debt. It is clear to anyone not in the employ of the Deep State that central bankers in the U.S. are working in concert with central bankers in Europe and Japan to keep this farcical Keynesian nightmare from imploding under an avalanche of deflation, wealth destruction, chaos and retribution for the guilty. The Federal Reserve used every means at their disposal to hide the fact they bought over $400 billion of mortgage backed securities from European banks and in excess of $1.5 trillion of their QE benefited foreign banks. It was no coincidence that one day after the Fed ended QE3, the Bank of Japan announced a massive “surprise” increase in purchases of bonds and stocks. It wasn’t a surprise to Janet Yellen, as this was the plan to keep stock markets rising, record Wall Street bonuses being paid, and further enrichment of the .1% global elite. The Japanese stock market has surged 18% since the October 31 announcement, with the U.S. market up 10%. Now it is time for Draghi to pick up the baton and create another trillion or two to support the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Central bankers know who they really work for, and it’s not you.

With global worldwide debt now exceeding $230 trillion we have far surpassed the point of no return. There is no mathematical possibility this debt will ever be repaid. And this doesn’t even include the hundreds of trillions of unfunded liability promises made by corrupt politicians around the world. The level of total global debt to global GDP, at nosebleed levels of 210% in 2008, has escalated past 240% as central bankers push the world towards a final and total catastrophe. With U.S. credit market debt of $58 trillion and GDP of $17.6 trillion, the U.S. is a basket case at 330%. The UK, Sweden and Canada are on par with the U.S.

But Japan takes the cake with total debt to GDP exceeding 500% and headed higher by the second. Their 25 year Keynesian experiment by mad central bankers and politicians enters its final phase of currency failure. Negative real interest rates, trillions wasted on worthless stimulus programs, and currency debasement have failed miserably, so Abe’s solution has been to double down and accelerate failed solutions. Only an Austrian economist can appreciate the foolishness of such a reckless act.

DOES THIS MAKE SENSE?

As I write this, the U.S. 10 Year Treasury bond is yielding 2.31%. It’s currently at a 16 month low. The Fed has been manipulating interest rates lower since 2010, but they have been dramatically reducing their purchases of Treasuries and Mortgage bonds. The 10 year Treasury yield should be rising, if the economy is truly improving. Instead it is plunging, indicating a recession. Real short term interest rates are already Negative. The entire financial system in the United States is manipulated, warped, and false. The free market does not exist. Everything is controlled and rigged by the Federal Reserve and their Wall Street owners.

Interest rates in a free market are supposed to reflect risk, debt levels and economic growth. Look at the bullet points below. Ireland’s debt levels are off the charts. Their economy is still in a shambles. In a free market only a fool would buy their government bonds. I wouldn’t buy their debt if it was yielding 10%. How could it possibly be yielding 1.63%, far lower than U.S. bonds? Spain is on the verge of revolution. Youth unemployment exceeds 40%. Their economy is a joke. Their debt load is unsustainable. How can their bonds be yielding 2.038%?

Is Ireland, Spain, France and Italy really a safer investment than the U.S.? Of course not. Europe is disintegrating before our very eyes. Germany is plunging into recession. The economic sanctions on Russia are backfiring. Not selling stuff to Russia hurts your economy. It’s going to be a cold winter in Europe, especially when Russia turns off the natural gas.  The EU has papered over their insolvency with trillions of new debt. Pretending there is no risk, doesn’t mean there is no risk.

Interests rates across the globe do not reflect reality. Central Bankers and politicians think they can pull levers and control the global economy. They are sadly mistaken. The unintended consequences of their reckless actions will destroy the world. When all the bubbles implode simultaneously, the anger, discontent, disillusionment, and seeking of the culprits will lead to riots, revolution, and ultimately to war.

None of this makes sense, but the consequences of what these bankers have done will be dire. This will not end well.

I keep reading that the politicians and central bankers have solved the EU crisis. They created more debt to cover-up the insolvency of every country and bank in the EU. It seems the people disagree. Pressure builds. It’s gonna blow.
