Sullivan Vows Decisive Response, Catastrophic Consequences If Russia Uses Nuclear Weapons

Via ZeroHedge

After it was previously revealed in The Washington Post days ago that US officials have been pushing back against nuclear threats issued by Russian President Vladimir Putin and his top officials via diplomatic backchannels, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan issued his first public response and the administration’s counter-warning Sunday.

Sullivan warned the US is ready to “respond decisively” if Russia crosses the “line” regarding nuclear or other weapons of mass destruction, stressing it would result in “catastrophic consequences” for Moscow. Sullivan made the statements in three separate appearances on Sunday news shows.

Russia Vows ‘Full Protection’ For Any Annexed Territory As Nuclear Threat Grows

Authored by Jack Phillips via The Epoch Times,

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that regions of Ukraine where referendums are being held will be under the Kremlin’s “full protection” if they are annexed by Russia, raising the prospect of the use of nuclear weapons.

Residents of four Russian-occupied areas in eastern and southern Ukraine continued voting for four days on whether to join Russia.

“Following those referendums, Russia of course will respect the expression of the will of those people who for many long years have been suffering from the abuses of the neo-Nazi regime,” Lavrov told reporters this weekend after addressing the United Nations General Assembly. He was referring to the Kyiv government.

When asked by a reporter if Russia would possibly use nuclear weapons to defend any annexed regions in Ukraine, Lavrov said that any Russian territory will be “under the full protection of the state.”

Beware of April 2023

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

There is a serious question as to why the Western press has been putting out nothing but one-sided propaganda. I have been warned that my sources in Russia are concerned that the hardliners behind the scene have been critical of Putin for NOT being more aggressive. Of course, there is the youth protesting over the war and the Western press has been happy to project only that image.

Today, for the very first time, the New York Times has actually reported what I have been reporting for weeks:

Nuclear war is possible – US commander

For the first time since the Cold War, conflict with a nuclear-armed peer is “no longer theoretical,” Admiral Charles Richard said

Nuclear war is possible – US commander

Navy Admiral Charles Richard, commander of US Strategic Command, declared on Wednesday that for the first time since the end of the Cold War, the US faces the possibility of nuclear war with a peer-level opponent.

Speaking at an Air Force-organized conference in Maryland, Richard claimed that the US would have to prepare to escalate quickly against possible opponents, and to protect its homeland.

“All of us in this room are back in the business of contemplating…direct armed conflict with a nuclear-capable peer,” he said, according to a Pentagon summary of his comments. “We have not had to do that in over 30 years.”

This is no longer theoretical.

“Russia and China can escalate to any level of violence that they choose in any domain with any instrument of power worldwide,” he continued. “We just haven’t faced competitors and opponents like that in a long time.”

Medvedev labels retired US general ‘an idiot’

Moscow will not be intimidated by NATO and will use “any” weapons it sees fit to defend its territory, former Russian president said

Medvedev labels retired US general ‘an idiot’

Moscow may use nuclear weapons to defend its territory, including the Donbass republics and Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions, should they decide to join Russia, former president, Dmitry Medvedev said on Thursday. He also warned that “retired idiots” in the Western military should not contemplate strikes on Moscow’s naval bases in the Black Sea.

Writing on Telegram on Thursday, Medvedev stressed that the referendums, planned for between September 23 and 27, would definitely take place, and “the Donbass republics and other territories would be admitted to Russia.”

Russian Nukes Can Be Used To Defend Annexed Ukraine Regions, Kremlin Warns

Via ZeroHedge

Once again Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, has served the role of issuing more severe ‘read between the lines’ warnings and threats fresh off President Vladimir Putin’s Wednesday speech announcing partial mobilization of national forces and which confirmed referendums of occupied portions of Ukraine to join the Russian Federation.

Putin’s most alarming line came when he said, “If the territorial integrity of our country is threatened, we will certainly use all the means at our disposal to protect Russia and our people,” following with “It’s not a bluff.” He had also stressed Moscow is ready to use “all available” means to protect its “territorial integrity”.

Medvedev has taken the president’s words further in Thursday statements, stressing that regarding Russian-seized territory and the move to vote in several areas – including the LPR, DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions – “there is no going back” and that even a ‘nuclear option’ could be on the table.

What Would a Nuclear War Look Like?

Guest Post by Jeff Thomas

Nuclear War

For eight years, NATO has backed puppet rulers in Ukraine, funded attacks on Donbass, repeatedly violated the Minsk Treaties, outlawed the speaking of Russian in the Luhansk and Donetsk Republics, and has destroyed democratic opposition and free media in Ukraine, leaving it a one-party government, essentially owned and financed by the US and administrated by US operatives.

Not much subtlety there.

Yet, somehow, the US has managed to convince the people of the US and other Western countries that Russia is the bad boy, is out of control and must be stopped.

In spite of all the above, Russia remained stoic and sought continually to keep a lid on the situation. It did, however, state firmly that the “red line” would be if Ukraine were to go nuclear, becoming a direct threat to Moscow. That would not be tolerated.

Ukraine General Warns of Nuclear War

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

You would think that someone would back down if this is the view. All my sources warn that if Putin is overthrown, the risk rises exponentially. All the bullshit being put out by the press is mindblowing to me. Putin was selected by Yeltsin when he was being blackmailed by the oligarchs in July 1999 and the hardline Communists were moving to impeach Yeltsin to take control and return Russia to the USSR. Putin stood between the two and Yeltsin’s last words to him were “take care of Russia.”

US-Russia Nuclear War Would Kill 5 Billion From Famine Alone: Study

Via ZeroHedge

If tensions between Russia and the United States spark an all-out nuclear war between the two rivals, more than five billion people would die from hunger alone, according to a new study in the journal Nature Food.

Scientists at Rutgers University projected the amount of soot that would be thrust into the Earth’s atmosphere in a variety of nuclear war scenarios, from smaller exchanges between India and Pakistan to a full-blown war between Russia and the United States.

A relatively modest Indo-Pakistani war would slash the world’s average caloric output by 7% within the first five years — bigger than any disruption humanity has faced thus far. “Even for a regional nuclear war, large parts of the world may suffer famine,” say the study’s authors.

Russia To Transfer Nuclear-Capable Missiles To Belarus “Within Months”: Putin

Via ZeroHedge

At a moment US media and much of the West is consumed with the historic Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Russian President Vladimir Putin just issued what’s possibly the most alarming and escalatory statement thus far in the four-month long Ukraine war.

On Saturday Putin for the first time informed his close ally Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko that he has approved supplying Belarus with nuclear capable long-range missiles. Minsk has long offered to host Russian nukes as a ‘deterrent’ against the West – a prospect which Lukashenko had very provocatively offered even in the months leading up to the Feb.24 invasion of Ukraine. This move will likely be viewed from Washington as a first step in moving toward a heightened nuclear posture in Eastern Europe.

When Whites Became an Endangered Species

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

When the Sun reappeared after the nuclear winter that followed the 21st century’s nuclear war, no life was left in what formerly was Europe, Great Britain, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.  Japanese no longer existed.  The only white-skinned people were Russian and American/European expatriates living in South America, Africa, Thailand and other parts of Asia.

Will Putin Submit to US-Imposed ‘Weakening’?

Will Putin Submit to US-Imposed 'Weakening'? By Patrick Buchanan

Nothing done in Ukraine in this two-month war has diminished the Russian arsenal of 6,000 nuclear weapons, the world’s largest stockpile. And the more we destroy Russian conventional power, the more we force Moscow to fall back onto its ace in the hole — nuclear weapons.

“Once war is forced upon us, there is no alternative than to apply every available means to bring it to a swift end. War’s very object is victory — not prolonged indecision.”

So said Gen. Douglas MacArthur in his April 1951 address to Congress after being fired by President Harry Truman as commander in chief in the Korean War.

And what is now America’s goal with our massive infusion into the Ukraine war of new and heavier NATO weapons?

Said Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on his return from a Sunday meeting in Kyiv with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy:

The United States wants “to see Russia weakened to the point where it can’t do things like invade Ukraine.”

“Russia,” said Austin, has “already lost a lot of military capability and a lot of its troops … and we want to see them not have the capability to very quickly reproduce that capability.”

Would Putin Use Nukes?

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrei Kozyrev served under Putin’s predecessor Boris Yeltsin in the 1990s. From his former position within the Russian Federation, Kozyrev believes Putin would only use nuclear weapons in “very specific situations.” Namely, if NATO became involved and Russia was backed into a corner from which there was no escape. “If Russia or one of those countries really threatened in their hearts – existentially, that is … if NATO troops come to Moscow, then probably they will resort to nuclear weapons,” Kozyrev told reporters.

Nuclear War Is On The Horizon

As Facts Cannot Be Acknowledged, the Insane Drive into Nuclear War Cannot be Stopped.

Finland is hurtling towards NATO membership | The Economist

Some readers have asked why Russia regards Finland’s membership in NATO as a provocation. For the same reason that Ukraine’s membership is a provocation: US missile bases on Russia’s border. The US does not currently have hypersonic missiles, but will sooner or later. Such missiles on Russia’s borders could reach Moscow in 3 or 4 minutes, clearly an existential threat. Along with Finland, Washington wants the bases in Sweden and the Baltic states, and already has missile bases in Poland and Romania.

Russia-Ukraine crisis: Is a nuclear war likely? What is a nuclear winter?, World News | wionews.com

Since the Russian action in Ukraine began, provoked by Washington’s cold shoulder to Russian security concerns, Washington, in addition to doing all possible to keep the conflict going, has also dumped three more provocations on the Kremlin:  an attempted coup or “color revolution” in the former Russian province of Kazakhstan, NATO military maneuvers currently under way in the former Russian province of Georgia which is not a NATO member, and NATO maneuvers in Poland on the Border of Belarus, a former Russian province and current Russian ally.  https://avia-pro.net/news/bronetehnika-nato-zamechena-v-3-kilometrah-ot-granicy-s-belorussiey

More Than One-Third Of Americans Would Risk Nuclear War Over Ukraine

Alternative title to this article – MORE THAN ONE-THIRD OF AMERICANS ARE FUCKING INSANE

I vote to give them an AK-47 and sending these fucking insane Americans over to the front lines in Ukraine to fight the evil Russians. Do they know Zelensky is welcoming foreign mercenaries to help?

Oh, they just want to send someone else’s children to die as cannon fodder for the military industrial complex and Deep State. Got it.

Since all of these people live in blue states, can we ask Mr. Putin to just nuke cities with more than 70% democrats.

With Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky receiving a standing ovation Wednesday morning after his brief address to Congress, you should know that over 1/3 of Americans polled by Pew Research support the US ‘taking military action even if it risks a nuclear conflict with Russia.’

As Pew reported on Tuesday:

Public Expresses Mixed Views of U.S. Response to Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine

35% favor U.S. military action even if it risks nuclear conflict with Russia

Three weeks into Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine, nearly half of Americans (47%) approve of the Biden administration’s handling of the Russian invasion, while about four-in-ten (39%) disapprove; 13% say they are not sure.
