I turned on Fox (O’really, actually) and it was hilarious. Putin is now a thug and a dictator, violating all the laws of mankind in order to stop the aspirations of the Ukrainians for freedom. In addition to sanctions and destruction of the ruble, we need to immediately force…er, offer Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine membershiop into NATO and install the missile defense systems into Poland which was only cancelled because Russia objected that they would be pointed at them when in fact they were meant to protect Europe from Iran.

I could stand about 10 minutes of O’Really and Dr. Strangelove before I put it on mute and flushed my ears out with the Scott Horton radio show. Whew!

Can Putin’s BS be more obvious? Russian soldiers took over a number of foreign installations but they are not invading 🙂

All neighbors of Russia are very worried and of course would want to join NATO and get better defense. It’s at least 4th recent Russian military invasion and occupation (Chechnya, Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine).

Stucky, those were also unprovoked American invasions. One difference is significant. though. Russians are there to annex and stay. Russia is on the course of expanding imperial borders.

Americans bomb weddings and go away, Russkies invade and steal lands.

We would be better off having decentralized system with independent Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, Moldova, Armenia, Georgia, Baltic States, etc. than having one empire again.

Paul Craig Roberts has another opinion …

Propaganda Rules The News –Paul Craig Roberts

The fact of the matter is that those 16,000 Russian troops have been in Crimea since the 1990s. Under the Russian-Ukrainian agreement, Russia has the right to base 25,000 troops in Crimea.

Vegas says:

Americans bomb weddings and go away, Russkies invade and steal lands.
__________________________________________

The Russkies have invaded nobody and stolen no land, nor do they have any military bases outside of Russia, with the exception of Crimea. Meanwhile the US has bases all over Europe, as well as in the former Soviet Republics of Georgia and Azerbaijan in the Caucasus as well as Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia.

Yoda would say, “Full of shit, you are.”

Olga,

AGREEMENT between the Russian Federation and Ukraine parameters section of the Black Sea Fleet enumerates locations where Russian fleet can operate. Everything outside is illegal occupation.

Admin, France even sells to Russians assault ships to invade fellow Europeans. Sanctions would very bad for business

Russia Orders French Mistral Amphibious Assault Ships

In August 2009, Russian media reported that their country was planning to take a radical step, and buy a French BPC-210 Mistral class external link amphibious assault ship (BPC/LHD) by the end of 2009. The outlet quoted the Chief of the Russian General Staff, Gen. Nikolai Makarov, who said that: “We are negotiating the purchase of one ship at present, and later planning to acquire 3-4 ships [of the same class] to be jointly built in Russia.” That plan eventually came true, with a contract for 2 ships, and a possible follow-on for 2 more.

France currently operates 3 Mistral class LHDs, after buying a 3rd using economic stimulus funds. Unlike other LHD designs, the Mistral class can’t operate fixed wing aircraft, and some observers in Russia and elsewhere classify at as an LHA. Regardless, it’s an important tool of power projection. Mistral Class ships can carry and deploy up to 16 helicopters, including attack helicopters like France’s Tiger or Russia’s Ka-50/52. Their main punch revolves around 4 landing barges or 2 medium hovercraft, however, which deliver armored vehicles, tanks, and soldiers to shore. Vessels of this class are equipped with a 69-bed hospital, and could be used as amphibious command ships. Russia wants that kind of versatility – even as her neighbors fear it.

In 2014, an immediate arms embargo against Russia due to the actions of the Russian army in the Crimea was nixed due to the French desire for the Mistral sale to Russia to continue.

No sanctions for Russian fascists because selling weapons to Putin is too profitable.

The major media (and why not include our spy agencies too) is doing a outstanding job of “divide and conquer” – getting everyone to fight each other instead of focusing on the REAL problem – the US government and the very powerful people and big special interests who control it at the expense of most citizens.

While everyone argues and fights, some very wealthy people and powerful special interests are profiting by distracting us so they can remain in power to continue to control and exploit us.
