Where was God when his son was murdered? Where was God when a third of Europe died in a plague? Where was God when six million or so of His Chosen People were annihilated? Where was God when a man dropped an atom bomb on a city of innocents? More than few people have this Great Awesome Plan for when the shit hits the fan. It’s called, “Trust God”. Given God’s policy of Noninterference for the past 2,000+ years …. I wonder how their Great Awesome Plan will work out for them (in this life) when TSHTF?
Innocent folks wrong place at the wrong time. Doing bids or drawn in a chalk line, little kids crossing the bridge too young, some tortured before they come. Damn. Evil is here, the boogie man too.
You don’t own a gun, man you should plan to. Am I looking at shit negatively? Crib death, mom ain’t got shit left. How the fuck is shit fair out here. Homeless family froze on the stairs. Where’s God? Bumping his Ipod.
It’s odd, I’ll be the lightning rod. I wanna know. Where’s God? Pitiful that. Where’s God? Where’s God, when shit goes down? It ain’t right.
So much fucked up shit where to begin. Some kids are born with a silver spoon. Others born with a needle & a world of doom. Little girl found duct taped & raped, & the killer escaped. God give me a break. I want to keep believing but it’s a struggle. Drunk drivers killing Iraq survivors. He can’t interfere, then why’s he here?,
After years of feeling like nobody cares. Most of us switch gears on Him. Cheers. Children fire, everybody dies. As a preacher explains & I roll my eyes. This game tryin’ to make sense of madness for a ray of hope in a world of sadness. I get it, we all need hope to cope. But collection plate money goes to dope. I cling by a finger & I’ll admit it, most of it is bullshit, & I don’t get it.
If he was up there chillin’, lettin’ this happen, doin’ nuttin’, He’d be in need of a slappin’. But we’re all clueless to how it works. There are no experts & that’s what hurts. Where’s God, when shit goes down? There’s not an individual who’s ever confessed Christ, who has not but one time or another, said the wrong thing, thought the wrong thing, done the wrong thing, & I don’t care how saved you are. Where’s God? We need Him here. I still believe. It ain’t right.
Thanks flash.
I really un-fucking-loaded on you in my insane Hulk-ish rant. You have a right to be pissed and or offended. But, regardless if you are or aren’t, what I appreciate more than anything is that you don’t carry a grudge. Yesterday was yesterday, today is today, so let’s rock and roll in the future.
Same goes to Bea Lever, bb, and (Sandra) Bullock.
Stucky – You have a right to be pissed and or offended.
Never happened , Doc…please carry on doing what you and only you do best..keeping the controversial juices flowing on TBP allowing admin a much needed break.
OMG I gave up reading flash because his posts were too long, BW because she was too deranged and now I will avoid reading BL because it is too embarrassing to watch a person beg for attention.
BL is starting to sound like one of those guys that wear their own Wanted/Missing poster and nobody notices.
Give it up, BL – you were a badass in kindergarten, great – it took you over six months to finally vanquish your foe, what were you guys playing, Chinese checkers with little glass balls? Around here you get body slammed, pinned, 1,2,3 your out. Hand over your lunch money and come back when you’ve got more marbles in your pocket.
Admin, C.S Lewis was one in possession of a most brilliant mind.I have an entire collection of his works, not that I have much more than a the pea brain with which to absorb it all with , but still I try. IMO. All his work should be required reading in high school.

The Abolition of Man
“You can’t go on “seeing through” things forever. The whole point of seeing through something is to see something through it. To “see through” all things is the same as not to see.”
― C.S. Lewis, The Abolition of Man
“In a sort of ghastly simplicity we remove the organ and demand the function. We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honour and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful.”
― C.S. Lewis, The Abolition of Man
“For every one pupil who needs to be guarded against a weak excess of sensibility there are three who need to be awakened from the slumber of cold vulgarity. The task of the modern educator is not to cut down jungles but to irrigate deserts. The right defence against false sentiments is to inculcate just sentiments. By starving the sensibility of our pupils we only make them easier prey to the propagandist when he comes. For famished nature will be avenged and a hard heart is no infallible protection against a soft head.”
― C.S. Lewis, The Abolition of Man
“The heart never takes the place of the head: but it can, and should, obey it.”
― C.S. Lewis, The Abolition of Man
“A great many of those who ‘debunk’ traditional…values have in the background values of their own which they believe to be immune from the debunking process”
― C.S. Lewis, The Abolition of Man
“An open mind, in questions that are not ultimate, is useful. But an open mind about the ultimate foundations either of Theoretical or of Practical Reason is idiocy. If a man’s mind is open on these things, let his mouth at least be shut. He can say nothing to the purpose. Outside the Tao there is no ground for criticizing either the Tao or anything else.”
― C.S. Lewis, The Abolition of Man
You don’t fit well in the comments section, flash, you should try posting your stuff as articles.

El Siete
If ANYONE here has a wanted poster it would be you. Snark away, at least you put in more than a you tube video for that comment.
You missed the point, BL, but in return, I missed the point about the last half of your comment.
We now look like two dumb fucks misunderstanding each other.
Back before there was Amazon – or, even the internet – I went to a bookstore and asked for a list of CS Lewis books … and bought $300 worth. Eventually, I bought (and, read) virtually all of Lewis’ books. Doesn’t make me an expert, but I am well aware of his works.
One of my reactions to reading his works was ….. shock. “Wow! He believes THIS!”, was not an infrequent thought. I’m not alone. Some “hard core” Christians actually consider him a heretic of sorts. Of course, prior to his conversion he was an atheist, with strong interest in Norse mythology, the occult, and other spiritual adventures. (BTW, he was Irish … not English).
I know he believed in Purgatory, praying for the dead, that the dead could travel from hell to heaven. He believed in the total free will of man … that not even God can interfere with man’s will regarding his final destination. He smoked cigars and drank alcohol. He lived with a woman …. out of wedlock! Not exactly Bible Belt material there!
But, there were THREE BIGGIES that made my jaw drop (at the time).
1)- He did not believe in the Inerrancy of the Bible … going so far as to say the Book Of Job was not historical.
2)- He likely does not believe that Hell is eternal; ——– ““That the lost soul is eternally fixed in its diabolical attitude we cannot doubt: but whether this eternal fixity implies endless duration—or duration at all—we cannot say.”
3)- He treated Genesis as “myth”. Lewis did not mean “myth” to be a false story but, rather, as an imaginative way of transferring truth. He has never denied Darwinism either. ———— ““I have therefore no difficulty in accepting, say, the view of those scholars who tell us that the account of Creation in Genesis is derived from earlier Semitic stories which were Pagan and mythical.”
Stuck, I have to admit I was for the Repugs, before I was agin’ ’em. there I said it, now I must get the cat-o-ninetails out for some penance.
El Siete , I do what I do best…disagree.
You guys are the learned here, I admit. I was confused by his writings (much as my own comments confuse me weeks later) and gave up trying to read Lewis.
Stuck , the out-of -Wedlock charge had later been retracted by the accuser who never met CS and as to evolution he , like many of US former Repugs grew to understand the error of his ways.
C.S. Lewis: creationist and anti-evolutionist
by Jerry Bergman
Oxford University professor C.S. Lewis was one of the most important Christian apologists of the last century. Toward the end of his career, he concluded that the modern theory of evolutionary naturalism is “pure hallucination”. Lewis detailed the reasons for this conclusion in several of his later writings.
“It will be a comfort to me all my life to know that the scientist and the materialist have not the last word: that Darwin and [Herbert] Spencer undermining ancestral beliefs stand themselves on a foundation of sand; of gigantic assumptions and irreconcilable contradictions an inch below the surface.”11

Stuck, I have some fundamentalist employees who on occasion expect me to referee their evolution/creationism arguments. I tell them I believe both at the same time. God made man, ford made the mustang, and they both keep improving their creation. Get’s me out of the hot seat every time.

I salute you Mr. Stucky
Contrariness of a Mad Farmer by Wendell Berry
I am done with apologies. If contrariness is my
inheritance and destiny, so be it. If it is my mission
to go in at exits and come out at entrances, so be it.
I have planted by the stars in defiance of the experts,
and tilled somewhat by incantation and by singing,
and reaped, as I knew, by luck and Heaven’s favor,
in spite of the best advice. If I have been caught
so often laughing at funerals, that was because
I knew the dead were already slipping away,
preparing a comeback, and can I help it?
And if at weddings I have gritted and gnashed
my teeth, it was because I knew where the bridegroom
had sunk his manhood, and knew it would not
be resurrected by a piece of cake. ‘Dance,’ they told me,
and I stood still, and while they stood
quiet in line at the gate of the Kingdom, I danced.
‘Pray,’ they said, and I laughed, covering myself
in the earth’s brightnesses, and then stole off gray
into the midst of a revel, and prayed like an orphan.
When they said, ‘I know my Redeemer liveth,’
I told them, ‘He’s dead.’ And when they told me
‘God is dead,’ I answered, ‘He goes fishing ever day
in the Kentucky River. I see Him often.’
When they asked me would I like to contribute
I said no, and when they had collected
more than they needed, I gave them as much as I had.
When they asked me to join them I wouldn’t,
and then went off by myself and did more
than they would have asked. ‘Well, then,’ they said
‘go and organize the International Brotherhood
of Contraries,’ and I said, ‘Did you finish killing
everybody who was against peace?’ So be it.
Going against men, I have heard at times a deep harmony
thrumming in the mixture, and when they ask me what
I say I don’t know. It is not the only or the easiest
way to come to the truth. It is one way.
