I mean no dishonor but most Soldiers (I’m a Vet) who die in combat lose their lives, usually don’t give their lives (re Kamikazi). Those who do should be given the Metal of Honor etc. Jesus gave His life (ref Is 53); He could have called a Legion of God’s Angels to save Him. No greater love hath a man than he give his life that others might live.
