IDEA – TBPoogle instead of using “mainstream” search engine
I’ve seen many great ideas shared here on TBP. From Stucky’s DIY projects, and more. Some overall good advice – to excellent advice. Amongst some of the mud-slinging. But that’s free entertainment – not liberal trolling.
Back in the day – people either experimented themselves – or had conversations with real people. Some would often chime in with REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE and advice.
Today – most of us head to a search engine skewed results “algorithm” seeking something either to confirm our bias – or send us in a particular direction in a quest for “answers.”
Can we go back to the old way?
That is why I am suggesting “TBPoogle.”
The internet has changed
Since the ICANN handover – I have noticed a change in internet search results. Not just from the GOOGS and BINGS – but even privacy based engines like Startpage or DuckDuckGo (who ultimately get their results from elsewhere).
The results are noticeable for me. MOSTLY mainstream shit.
Blogs or other “ALT” media never comes up – even in the first 10 pages. Only faux blogs who push the mainstream narrative – but are fake as a Rolex on 42nd Street. Unless you have a very complex and unique search query – your results will be shit.
Any suggestions for a new TBPoogle category? Format?
I’ve seen versions of this here already – quick questions, QOTD, etc.
But maybe we can figure out a “format” that would make it easier.
Like if I’m looking for an Organic Pizza place in NJ – maybe we can signify the region in question geographically so people who live elsewhere won’t have to bother.
Or towards a gender (men, women) or an age group (younger older)
I don’t know – just throwing shit out there.
But I’d trust the results from TBPoogle before any other draconian free-speech-reducing, censored (((search engine))).
So what do you say, any suggestions?
Anyone can ask advice on TBP. I will give advice even to sworn enemies for life (flash, that means you), and do so with good intent to best of my ability.
TBP has some giants in very diverse fields. If you want to know about bat guano or refinishing a kitchen, someone will have the answer.
Maybe we could just keep an open thread where folks can ask questions/ask for help.
We could call it the “If you do not like my advice, blow me” thread, or somesuch.

I realize every agreement is/can be different but, how would you go about getting out of a non-compete? How air tight can they be in area and length of time?
If I can’t get out of a non-compete, what advice would you have regarding getting someone to be a front/stand in for me?
Depends which state you are in. Some will not enforce.
That said, my general advice is if you signed it willingly, then abide by your word. Honesty and integrity in business is paramount.
Yes, I agree with your honesty and integrity advice. The problem is noncompetes are full of bluster and “everything + the kitchen sink” fear tactics so you’ll tow the line. I fail to see the honesty and integrity in that.
The non-compete is in Maryland. I don’t know how much experience you have in Maryland and, yes, I have spoken to a lawyer about this. The thing is, I won’t “really” know how enforceable the entirety of it is until a lawsuit is filed and a judge rules on it. I can’t imagine a judge would agree that I can’t offer a better solution to the market and that I couldn’t do it anywhere in the country.
This is why I asked if you had any advice on how to go about setting up a front person. What business entity should I consider creating? In what state?

I use DuckDuckGo, so I checked TBP for the top listed story, put the words in search and gave up looking for those words to appear on a DuckDuckGo entry. Even many very obscure sites which do not get anywhere close to the readership volume of TBP had an entry for the top listed article or a nonsense article.
IMO, the ICANN handover helps the scum political leaders by thwarting communication by the peasants to avoid an Arab Spring – cuz that is how it started in Tunisa with people connecting on the Internet for protests.
DuckDuckGo just prevents Google from keeping a personal record of your searches which may be used against you someday (either as evidence or to profile you) and aim advertising at you tailored to you interests or weaknesses.
If you’re the paranoid or suspicious type you use regular Google to form the profile you want them to have and DuckDuckGo (or other search anonymizer) to do your real personal searches you want to avoid having used to profile to you.
FWIW, you can also use a proxy to search, read or post on sites that lie at all outside of the mainstream, or use an IP address that has many different people connected to it, or both.

OTOH, sadly, “he should have ducked” doesn’t appear until Page 3.

For example, the day the Chatham cops interrogated me.
It lasted about an hour. I didn’t post those details. But, very early in the interview one of them asks me, “Why do you hate cops?” My mind instantly wondered “WTF??” cuz I knew I was there because of supposedly threatening to blow up some dude in Chatham over tomato plants. I simply replied, “I don’t.”
Then one of the two copfuks pulls out about 8 sheets of paper. They had actually gone through several TBP threads … and HIGHLIGHTED all the areas where I said ‘copfuk’ or ‘I hate cops’. There were a lot of highlights. I literally, for perhaps the first and only time in my life, felt the blood drain from my face. “Holy shit, I’m fucked!”, I thought. But, I quickly recovered. I simply said something to the effect of — “It just internet talk and means nothing. I have no desire to talk any more about that.” And, that was pretty much the end of it. But, the point was made — THEY were in charge, and they knew shit about ME, and I better come clean with my terroristic internet threats.

Good idea,I’ve been thinking for awhile that we ought to have a couple of open threads here.One could be where a person has an interesting or informative article or bit of info that doesn’t really match any of the current posts.Then if admin sees it getting lots of replies/comments or thinks that it should be a standalone thread he can move it.
We also need a joke thread.Once Trump is sworn in we need to get the internet back to what it was originally designed for–jokes & pics of beautiful women.

Google changes algorithm:
One of the things you need to consider if making an open thread – is to have an easy access link near the top of the page. Scrolling down to recent comments might not always work – especially if there was no activity.
Maybe just a new category can be created with a link.
