Is The Trump Administration Already Over?

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

Hopes for the Trump administration are not burning brightly. Trump’s military chief, Gen. Mattis, is turning out to be true to his “mad dog” nickname. He has just declared that Iran “is the single biggest state sponsor of terrorism in the world.” https://sputniknews.com/politics/201702041050338034-mattis-iran-terrorism/

He has declared Russia to be the number one threat to the US.

He has threatened intervention in China’s territorial affairs.

I was wrong. I thought Gen. Mattis was a reasonable choice as he rejects the efficacy of torture, and, according to Trump, convinced Trump that “torture doesn’t work.” Apparently Mattis cannot reach beyond this realization to higher geo-political realizations. Trump needs to fire Mattis who has placed the Pentagon in the way of normal relations with Russia.

There is no evidence in the behavior of Iran, Russia, and China to support Gen.Mattis’ views. His definition of threat is the neoconservative one—a country capable of resisting US hegemony. This is a convenient threat for the military/security complex as it justifies an unlimited budget in order to prevail over such “threats.” It is this hegemonic impulse that is the source of terrorism.

If truth can be spoken, there are only two countries in the world with hegemonic aspirations—Israel and the US—and they are the sources of terrorism. Israel terrorizes Palestinians and has done so for about 70 years. The US terrorizes the rest of the world.

All known Muslim terrorists are creations of the US government. Al Qaeda was created by the Carter administration in order to confront the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan with jihadism. ISIS was created by the Obama/Hillary regime in order to overthrow Gaddafi in Libya and then was sent by the Obama/Hillary regime to overthrow Assad in Syria, as Trump’s national security advisor, Gen. Flynn, former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency revealed on TV. The Ukrainian neo-nazis assaulting the republics of Donetsk and Luhansk were also unleashed by the Obama/Hillary overthrow of the democratically elected government of Ukraine. All terror is associated with Washington and Israel.

The fact of Washington’s overthrow of Ukraine’s government is incontestable; yet large numbers of brainwashed Americans think Russia invaded Ukraine, just as they believe the fake news that Iran is a terrorist state.

The last time Iran initiated a war of aggression was in the last decade of the 18th century when Iran reconquered the Caucasus and Georgia, which Iran soon lost to Russia.

Iran in our time has done no offense except to refuse to submit to being a Washington vassal state.

Additionally, Iran, and Syria rescued by the Russians, are the only states in the Muslim world that are not US puppet states and mere vassals that are nothing in themselves, no independent foreign policy, no independent economic policy. Only Iran and Syria have independent policies.

Iran is a large country endowed with substantial energy resources. Iran has a long history going back to ancient times of independence and military prowess. Today Iran is essential to Russia as a buffer to the US created jihadism that neoconservatives plan to export to the Muslim areas of the Russian Federation. Consequently, Iran is the most inopportune of targets for Trump if he wishes to restore normal, non-threatening relations with Russia. Yet his mad dog Pentagon chief recklessly makes threatening statements alleging Iran to be a “terrorist state.”

Do we see Israel’s hand at work in the threats against Iran? Iran and Syria are the only countries in the Middle East that are not American puppet states. Syria’s army has been hardened by combat, which is what Syria’s army needs in order to stand up to US-backed Israel. Both Syria and Iran are in the way of Israel’s Zionist policy of Greater Israel—from the Nile to the Euphrates. For the Zionists, Palestine and Southern Lebanon are merely the beginning.

Israel has successfully used the corrupt British and now the corrupt Americans to reestablish themselves on lands from which God evicted them. This doesn’t speak well of the intelligence and morality of the British and US governments. But what does?

We are also hearing from Mattis and from Tillerson threats to intervene in China’s sphere of influence. Trump’s appointees appear to be unable to understand that there can be no improvement in relations with Russia if the Trump regime has Iran and China in its crosshairs.

Is there any prospect that the Trump administration can develop geo-political awareness? Is the tough-talking Trump administration tough enough to overthrow the power that Zionist Israel exercises over US foreign policy and the votes of the US Congress?

If not, more war is inevitable.

For twenty-four years—eight years of the criminal Clinton regime, eight years of the criminal Bush regime, eight years of the criminal Obama regime—the world has heard threats from Washington that have resulted in the death and destruction of millions of peoples and entire countries. The Trump administration needs to present a different Washington to the world.

I’m with you. It is disturbing to hear Mattis; am just hoping this is a ploy to avoid antagonism from the Defense/Intelligence arena due to the constant battles in other areas.

I’m willing to give it a little more time, but have to say, I’m really disappointed with all the neo-conish war talk. Can we just stop please???? That was my biggest hope for Trump–that he’d stop all this foreign policy insanity.

And for Israel, which I’m sick of, doesn’t the government own a zillion acres of land out west? Why don’t we just ship the entire country of Israel over here, park them in that land and make it a US state. They’re a massive welfare drain for us anyway. And afterall, California’s going to secede, and that will keep us from having to re-do the flag.

Teri,
Maybe it would be even better to ship all the israel sympathizers over there & cut off the welfare as well as their influence completely rather than bring more here. Just a thought.

Trump appears to be way out of his league here. He needs to stick to buying properties using other people’s money, filing bankruptcy and sticking it to creditors.

So far, his picks are either complete shills for Israeli banksters (Kushner, Mnuchin, etc.) or they are wack jobs from the military/corporate/industrial complex.

Either way this is going to end badly for the American people.

Trump’s failed.

Go back to sleep and wait till he’s removed and we start over with someone more politically centered, compliant and reasonable to the world order.

Everyone knows Iran doesn’t sponsor terrorism, and that Islam doesn’t need to be restricted since there is no history of Muslim expansion outside of the ME, they’ve always kept to themselves and left others alone.

Then why are there Moorish (Islamic) buildings and architecture in Spain? Last time I checked, Spain was not part of the Middle East.
Nor is Indonesia and Malaysia, both of which have significant (even majority) Islamic populations.
Is Pakistan part of the Middle East now? How about all those Uighurs in China?
You are wonderfully ignorant.

CPR consistently makes the same mistake over and over again – he takes everything literally. But since Washington politics is 90 percent obfuscation and 10 percent hot air, that’s always wrong. My own prediction is that due to economic and demographic pressures, America has no other choice but to keep reducing its military footprint. Such a retreat will undoubtedly be accompanied by aggressive rhetoric and bluster.

In the last 24 hours I’ve learned Trump is considering NeoRat Elliot Abrams for Deputy Secretary of State and that Mnuchin was in Skull and Bones while at Yale. How much more evidence do we need?

Man, when Trump is wrong, is he ever wrong.

He’s meeting today with Elliott Abrams, who’s being considered for Deputy Secretary of State.

So people voted for Trump, and they’re getting Jeb’s foreign policy.

Thankfully, Rand Paul isn’t taking it.

In an op-ed published this morning, he writes:

I hope against hope that the rumors are wrong and that President Donald Trump will not open the State Department door to the neocons. Crack the door to admit Elliott Abrams and the neocons will scurry in by the hundreds.

Neoconservative interventionists have had us at perpetual war for 25 years. While President Trump has repeatedly stated his belief that the Iraq War was a mistake, the neocons (all of them Never-Trumpers) continue to maintain that the Iraq and Libyan Wars were brilliant ideas. These are the same people who think we must blow up half the Middle East, then rebuild it and police it for decades.

They’re wrong and they should not be given a voice in this administration….

Nation building in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria and Yemen has not and will not work. Mr. President please, please do not open the door to the people who sip lattes while sneering behind your back. They are bold enough to come begging for work while continuing to laugh and deride your every remark concerning foreign policy. Don’t let them in!

Nobody else in Washington is going to say that.

And yet it’s obvious, isn’t it? Hey, Mr. President, these guys ridiculed you and hate your guts, and they also oppose your positions on Iraq and Libya. Maybe you should consider not appointing them.

Yet only one man in Washington is saying it.

One sane man in a world of lunatics.

If you ever feel that way yourself, you’ll find refuge, and feel right at home, in my private group:

Trump still has plenty of time to overrule this stupid warmongering. In fact, Mattis can’t start a war with Russia, because he knows NATO will get wiped out by Russia’s far superior conventional forces. Same with Iran, since Russia will not allow their conquest…

Oh no’s! Trump’s been in office for a full 2.5 weeks and hasn’t delivered utopia.

What a crock.

Hey, here’s an idea. Maybe we could give the guy at least a few months before throwing him to the wolves and admitting defeat. Right now, Trump has no one — not the media, not Hollywood, not the judicial branch, and cripes, not even his own party. All he has is US, “We the People,” along with a few trusted advisers who are under constant fire.

Trump needs our support, more than ever. Drivel like this doesn’t help. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m not willing to give up on the one guy who’s fighting like hell for regular Americans. And I’m sure as hell not willing to let Trump stand alone against the globalists who are trying to ruin everything that America ever stood for.

Trump isn’t over. He’s barely begun. And I, for one, refuse to abandon him so easily.

What the hell is wrong with Roberts, other than he’s virulently anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian? Let’s take a look at what he said in this op-ed piece.

PCR: Trump’s military chief, Gen. Mattis, is turning out to be true to his “mad dog” nickname. He has just declared that Iran is the single biggest state sponsor of terrorism in the world.
SSS: Well, it is, and it’s well documented since the Ayatollahs took power in 1979. Mattis is 100% correct. Roberts is blind to Iranian creations such as Hezbollah, which has killed tens of thousands of Lebanese, Israelis, Americans, Argentinians, Iraqis, Syrians, Saudis and others it deems enemies. All under the creation, sponsorship, and support of Iran.

PCR: He has declared Russia to be the number one threat to the US.
SSS: Militarily, that’s true because of Russia’s nuclear arsenal. So Roberts is STUNNED that a retired Marine four-star said that? Diplomatically (Putin has zero allies in the West) and economically, not even close. Mattis is basically correct unless Trump rebukes him, which he won’t for now because of the nukes. Let’s wait for Trump to act. That’s all that counts, not what Mattis said.

PCR: He has threatened intervention in China’s territorial affairs.
SSS: That’s Trump’s call on what to do about China, which HAS been aggressive not in territorial waters, but international waters. Against international treaties, to which China has agreed, it is ILLEGALLY redefining what is territorial. Big problem for Trump, not Mattis.

PCR: Trump needs to fire Mattis who has placed the Pentagon in the way of normal relations with Russia.
SSS: Mattis has done no such thing, and after a mere 2 weeks, he needs to go? Wow. Trump will decide which way relations with Russia will go, and whether or not the Pentagon is placed in the way of normal relations with Russia.

Get my drift? Trump will make the calls, not Mattis. Does this fucking idiot Paul Craig Roberts NOT understand that the Constitution specifically names the President as Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces and has been given the ultimate power of foreign policy, save for a declaration of war. Ultimately, it’s what Trump does, not what Mattis said. Sheesh. It’s not that complicated.

I’m with those who are becoming disappointed with Trump.

Yeah yeeah yeah … give him his 100 days. For sure. But, his foreign policy is looking very warlike. If you can’t see that, his orange hair is blinding you.

Just to be clear, I have no problem with any of Trumps’s other EO’s and policies. Just just his foreign/war/enemies policy.

Personally, I think Roberts — the strike out king — hit a Grand Slam today.

Get real, amigo. I am among those who fully support Trump’s attempt to hit a real, honest reset button with Russia. I think he will succeed.

Demonizing Putin as a thug and killer is a fool’s errand, and it is the neocon AND libs narrative. John McCain is just as stupid on the Russia issue as Nancy Pelosi. Does that sound neoconish to you? I hope not.
