It is claimed that amazon web services subsidizes amazon ecommerce division. I personally have
no problem with amazon. I think the main gripe is that they don’t add state sales tax, thus they have
an unfair advantage over local vendors selling the same goods. I use them for the convenience. I would posit that they saved the USPS by using them as a package delivery vendor. On the other side of the coin, I’m sure the deep state (CIA etc) has Bezo’s by the cajones. CIA contract, USPS Contract, Washington Post purchase……What probably started out as a normal business was converged.

Random thoughts:

I stopped Prime and try to ignore Amazon as much as I possibly can. I don’t know of another used book market like it, though, so I visit on occasion. Also I use it to check reviews of products. Oh yeah, I recently replaced my cell phone with a very nice Samsung model for $69.99.

One thing I love about Amazon is the ease of navigating and purchasing online. Considering the magnitude and complexity of its offerings, it is almost a pleasure to use.

I have placed a couple of orders from Walmart through this site. It is trying to compete, but it has far to go. For one thing, it tries to fulfill your order from the closest store. Since my store is often out of things, there is a delay as they try to locate items in nearby stores. Like Amazon, Walmart has secondary sellers for a wide variety of items. One item I ordered from a secondary seller never came. I wrote numerous emails to Walmart’s customer service about the problem. Each time I was told the seller had been notified and would contact me within 24 hours, and after several months I am still waiting. Since I have never had a problem with numerous secondary sellers I have used on Amazon, I was surprised by this robbery. I cannot justify ever using a secondary seller on WM again.

I have read that the postal service gives Amazon a break on shipping. This is grossly unfair, so I’m glad Trump has made an issue of it. I doubt anything will change, though.
