Jon Stewart: Trump exploits journalists’ ‘own narcissism’: ‘They’re personally wounded’

Comedian Jon Stewart has a message for journalists: Stop taking President Trump’s comments personally.

The former host of “The Daily Show” joined fellow comedian Dave Chappelle and CNN’s Christiane Amanpour this week for a wide-ranging interview that covered the current U.S. political landscape. Mr. Stewart said that members of the media engage in a losing battle with Mr. Trump when they allow their egos to get in the way of objective reporting.

“I think journalists have taken it personally,” he told the network’s chief international anchor for an interview on Tuesday. “They’re personally wounded and offended by this man. He baits them, and they dive in. What’s he’s done well, I’ve thought, is appeal to their own narcissism, their own ego. … The journalists stand up and say, ‘We are noble! We are honorable! How dare you, sir!’ And they take it personally, and now he’s changed the conversation to not that his policies are silly or not working or any of those other things.”

Mr. Stewart, speaking from London’s Royal Albert Hall, added that networks seem to saturate the media landscape with Mr. Trump because the potential advertising revenue is too enticing to pass up.

“You’ve got to make money, too. You’ve got bills to pay, man,” he said. “You’ve got electric bills. You’ve got food. You know? This guy is giving you guys all cash. … It’s all about the fight. He’s able to tune out everything else and get people focused on the fight — and he’s going to win that fight.”

Ms. Amanpour countered that “bean counters” were more concerned with ratings and revenue.

Every “comedian” wants to be Jon Stewart now. It feels like it is 1989; Stewart is Motley Crue, Colbert is Poison, Fallen is Twisted Sister, and Kimmel is WASP. All the bands now sound the same and they are the only thing the stations will play. We are all getting tired of seeing that baby-faced singer telling us he is a “Wild Child”. When in the hell is Nirvana going to show up already.

Ultimate cheese. Still more testosterone than Kimmel, Colbert, and Fallen combined.

Their job is to report the news and not to attack the subjects of the news or to support them either. These clowns personal feelings are their own and if they can’t deal with it get a new job in another industry. Or even better yet just report the news and let us determine its importance or lack thereof. It is past time that they check their egos in before they are disappointed again…..they are not the important ones in the equation.

Id have more respect for these so called journalists if they would be specific. For example, Trump repeating lies. Ok, so tells us the lie or lies.

Joohn Stuart tells us that his policies are silly and or not working. Which policies are those?

Let’s face it. It’s not narcissism . It’s the NPC audience that these idiots play to.

One of the smartest things I’ve ever heard him say.

Trump is always one step ahead, it seems.

Remember when the Daily Show was actually funny? The show under Craig Kilborn was lighthearted, apolitical and didn’t take itself seriously, but it built up an audience, and the dogma-pushers couldn’t let a good opportunity go to waste. Cue Jon Stewart. All the nightly “comedy” shows now a days follow the same script. It’s fucking BORING and tedious. Maybe we can start a TBP news hour with HSF as host?

So, in other words, he’s saying: don’t get so triggered. But they just can’t help themselves….

It has more to do with doubling down on every single lie they tell. They worry about the bottom line? Since when? We have watched one company after another throw away every bit of good will they ever had in order to push their agenda right up until they go under. The media has had an ever decreasing return not because there’s no market share left, but because no one wants what they’re selling. And still they continue to do the same thing.

Liebowitz is only half right- Trump is winning- but it hasn’t got to do with their egos, but their complete lack of self awareness. They know they are telling lies, but they think no one can tell, that their outrage schtick influences people.

Trump is a master troller who knows how to push the Left’s buttons.

Until Children reach about age 9 they take everything literally and don’t understand irony, satire, and mockery. Libtards, being perpetually immature, haven’t developed the capacity to recognize Trumps mockery of them so they take it literally and they melt-down or become enraged.

That’s the only way to deal with Libtards because you can’t reason or use logic or facts with them. Mock them and then watch them make fools of themselves.
