Beto O’Rourke Suggests America Should Ditch the Constitution

Potential presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke has stunningly suggested that the United States should ditch its own Constitution.

During an interview with the Washington Post, the Texas Congressman openly mulled whether the rapidly changing nature of the world meant that the founding document of the country was out of date.

Throughout the two-hour interview — which was often interrupted by bystanders urging him to run for president — O’Rourke boomeranged between a bright-eyed hope that the United States will soon dramatically change its approach to a whole host of issues and a dismal suspicion that the country is now incapable of implementing sweeping change.

When asked which it is, O’Rourke paused.

“I’m hesitant to answer it because I really feel like it deserves its due, and I don’t want to give you a — actually, just selfishly, I don’t want a sound bite of it reported, but, yeah, I think that’s the question of the moment: Does this still work?” O’Rourke said. “Can an empire like ours with military presence in over 170 countries around the globe, with trading relationships…and security agreements in every continent, can it still be managed by the same principles that were set down 230-plus years ago?

The bizarre quote is sure to come up again should O’Rourke decide to run for president, a scenario that looks more likely in the aftermath of his Senate challenge, which O’Rourke almost certainly knew he would lose but embarked upon anyway to increase his name recognition.

Some analysts think that Beto is more likely to seek a spot on the 2020 ticket as the Democratic vice presidential candidate, but with views like this, many conservatives will want him nowhere near the White House.

What is sad and deeply pathetic is that this was his moment to acknowledge that….but he didn’t, and doesn’t even understand that the course we took directly paralleled our abandonment of Constitutional limits on government power.

Where did they come from indeed. With a little thought and research I think we can deduce. Counter charge, take no prisoners figuratively, relentless and merciless in our advance. The time is now for the scorched earth war of words, actions, and thoughtful commerce. Unyielding, unblinking, relentless we must be.

Look, I hate this guy as much as anyone. He’s way too Mexican. Is that the bad quote, though? That’s it? He doesn’t actually say “ditch the constitution” (although he probably wouldn’t mind doing that). He’s asking whether we can manage an empire with our military in 170 countries based upon our founding principles. The obvious answer is “no”. According to our founding principles we shouldn’t have a military presence in 170 countries.

Beto is not a Mexican but he does a superb job of playing one on TV. Also his handlers have got the Bobby Kennedy brushing hair back motion to a tee. Expect 80 percent of females 15 to 50 to be sporting bumper stickers saying “Beto makes me moist”.

That this callow young fool, with his donkey teeth a la Robert F. Kennedy, his carefully unkempt hair and his fake “Latino” nickname, is considered a serious candidate for president, tells you all you need to know about the state of the Union. This guy is a third stringer even if he had some useful experience, which he doesn’t. God help us.

No, it can’t. That’s why we shouldn’t have any of those things, and why our founders warned us against them. They are why WW1 and WW2 happened, and are why the evils of socialism have flourished instead of withered.

The only problem with the constitution is the people who are enforcing it.

What an idiot. The beauty of the Constitution is that it is generic enough to seldom need updating. He just wants to change it because he doesn’t agree with it….

Too bad that Mr. O’Rourke does not realize that the founding principles of this nation, as defined in the founding documents and writings from the founders, did NOT include managing or even allowing the overwhelming size of the government we have today. The founding principle is a small government with strictly limited and enumerated powers and no others withut formal amendment. If we stuck (roughly) to those principles, we would have about 10% of the Federal government we have. We would also have a wide variety of State governments, with a wide range of intrusiveness, tax rates, public welfare, infrastructure provided depending on the desire and budget of the people in each state.

Beto ought to say what he thinks of those principles, the ones we cast off so long ago.

If states decided to fund welfare and food stamps for their people, (which is how it should be under federalism in the Constitution, not by the U.S. government) the smart state would be the one that didn’t. Then all the parasites would move for the free goodies and the state would be in the red and the inhabitants quite happy.

“But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this
much is certain – that it has either authorized such a government as
we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it
is unfit to exist.” — Lysander Spooner, (19th century)

Take this dweeb to a Texas rodeo.
Let him climb on top of a bull.
Tell him the bull is gentle, and has been castrated. Give donkey teeth (love that moniker) a pair of leather gloves, but no helmet. Make him wear a Stetson. Test his allegiance to Tejas. Then, handcuff him to the ride rope around the bull, or whatever you call it.
Zap that steer in the nads, and open the corral gate. Yee haw, Beano. No clowns allowed. No EMTs, either. Let him get (Al) gored, after getting flopped around like the ragdoll he is.
I’d buy a ticket.
WTF did 47% of voters see in this impersonator?

Um. I admire the sentiment for abuse but steers have no nads which is why they’re steers.

I love reading the comments here. It is exactly these types of people. The i was born american and my whole family for the last thousand generatiosns were all american people, make me cringe. These are the same people that will spit in your face for telling them they are really thought slaves to a militarist centralised oligarchy. They pay more taxes than the founding father of america were paying when they decided their taxes were too high and who will willing send their sons off to the slaughter house in the middle east to fight proxy wars for politicians who would just as soon See these same people burn before he gave up his chair. America is a broken fucked up mess. If you cant see that then you deserve the country your going to end up with. You vote you take stands you gather so your voices are louder. Yet you cant even see past your individual selfishness and see that maybe just maybe you and your america is no more special than anyother polluted corrupt path of land on the flying dirt ball you call home.

So sick of this isnt america great crap when you cant even get a ride to the hospital unless you are willing to pay. And on top of that you dont even get the best care. You want bettsr care you lay more. In this country the me me me mentality is out of control.

But i think my favorite thing of all is hearring how evil socialised government is. Most people hear socialism and think nazis. Because most people are too dumb to educate them selves. Nazis were nationalist. They claimed socialism early to garmer support but any person woth two brain cells knows what a nationalist goveret looks like. It looked like america in 2019 only less corrupt.

No call me liberal or what ever you desire. I prefer to call it honesty. America is burning. It will fall. Just like every other empire before it. Sfunny how the last decades of rome and the usa today are so similar in not just symbolism but also political structuring.

America is “burning” because of Socialist legislation that allows idlers to sit on their ass instead of working for a living. It’s “burning” because the government pays for college loans, welfare, abortions, farmers not to farm, and useless wars, among other things.

“You can’t even get a ride to the hospital unless you are willing to pay.”

And what do you expect? Talk about a “gimme” mentality! Do you expect taxpayers to pay for your ride to the hospital? What’s wrong with your car? Why can’t you hop on a bus? Why don’t you pay for it yourself? Can’t pay? Find a charity that will help you. Ambulances are private businesses with contracts with the local government. They require payment. I’m not willing to pay for your ride to the hospital. Why should I? Start a damn savings account for emergencies. If you’re not making enough money, get a better job or a second job. I’m not here to pay your way through life.

And that is the problem with Socialism. People are forced to pay for other people who can’t or will not pay their way through life. Charity is there for those who can’t make a living. For the others, get a damn job! You’re not special!!

America will definitely fall. And it’s because of an overextended federal government that caters to foreign wars and a Federal Reserve that puts this government farther and father into debt to provide for such things as welfare for the “gimme” generations that won’t provide for themselves.

Yes, it’s a complex issue and you don’t understand it at all. Get an education, preferably outside of the liberal colleges that teach Communism.

By the way, if I’m required to pay your health bills, I should be able to tell you how to live your life, such as demanding you exercise and eat healthier food.

And that, my friends, is how people demand government take over how you should live your life “since they’re paying for it!”

If you’re on a woman on welfare and you have six kids you can’t feed, then I could demand you get a hysterectomy. I could also demand that your should eat healthier food through your food stamps card. If you’ve a male that has fathered 12 kids by different women, then I could demand you have a vasectomy. This type of taxpayer-payed action results in Communism, demanded by taxpayers who are footing the bill. It wasn’t long ago that taxpayers in one state demanded that a woman who had a slew of kids she couldn’t afford be forcefully sterilized. It was a highly publicized case.

Yet, even conservatives endorse this type of government intervention.

Provide for yourself or go to charities and all of this is avoided.
