The Rants of the Libtards Ring Hollow then Echo

By Doug “Uncola” Lynn via TheBurningPlatform.com

There’s a guy I met a few years ago who, it turned out, had worked with some people I’ve done business with in the past.  We shared a few war stories and have since had lunch together on a few occasions.  Last month he called me with a business proposition and invited me over to see his new place and the ongoing projects there.  After putting him off for as long as could be considered polite, I called him last week and we met at his house.

After the normal bullshit and small talk he told me his plans had changed and we wouldn’t be working together.  I told him I didn’t care one way or another and it was good to, at least, see the new place.  Then, after seeing some of the improvements and hearing about his current and future projects, he said:  “What did you think of the Mueller report? I have a feeling you might see it differently than me.”

Actually, that turn in our conversation took me by surprise.  Or, rather, perhaps I was merely surprised I didn’t see it coming.  In truth, I had hoped to avoid politics.  Yet, as soon as he asked me the question, I knew he was libtarded.  In retrospect, I think I always knew.  And, from the first moment I saw him standing in the doorway that day, I could tell he was agitated. Of course he was all smiles and laughter right up until he broached the Mueller report, I could see beneath his salesman’s shtick, that his eyes were angry.  It could have been from anything.  But just then it became obvious.

I paused for a moment, sizing him up.  He was middle-aged. Caucasian. Buzz-cut, but mostly bald. A little shorter than me. Stocky like a bulldog.

I replied:  “It all has a sense of theater, don’t ya’ think?”

And then the rant started.

I listened but, inwardly, did have a feeling of schadenfreud-esque satisfaction.  Even so, there was no way in hell I wanted to actively red-pill the guy.  He was too far gone and it’s too late for him anyway.  Or maybe I just didn’t give a shit. I’m still not sure.

So my mind wandered as I looked out the large windows feeling a little like Freddy Krueger on Friday the 13th or Michael Myers on Halloween.  Or maybe Chucky at a toy convention.  Before long though, his voice pulled me away from my rosy reveries as I heard him say, “But you don’t care about that, do you?”

“About what?” I asked.

“Russia. You don’t care that Trump is controlled by Russia.  That doesn’t bother you at all, does it.”  In looking at his intense frown, and since his intonation descended on the word “it”, I knew it wasn’t a question.

Then, it hit me.  He was trying to red-pill me!  In his own way, that is.  I mean, in his mind, all of those DNC inspired “red-alert” e-mails and Rachel Maddow could not have been wrong over the last two years, right?

Now it was getting fun.  I said, “Trust me, Bud.  Trump may be controlled but it ain’t by Russia”.

“Who’s controlling him then?”

Almost as an afterthought, I near whispered the following:  “Well, you know…., Dwight Eisenhower warned about the Military Industrial Complex in his farewell speech and JFK spoke of the secret societies before he was assassinated.  You know… Carrol Quigley wrote about the round-table groups in his book ‘Tragedy and Hope’.  You know… the global financial elite.”

He studied me with a puzzled look on his face.  Then, as he walked over to pour himself some more coffee, he said, “But what about Trump.  What do you think of Trump?”

“I think he just might be a distraction,” said I. “Like watching a movie on plane that’s about to crash.  Or maybe like a reality TV show.”

“Well Trump would be perfect for that, wouldn’t he?” he exclaimed.  “Hey listen,” he added, “I’m not trying to be jerk here and I’m not challenging what you believe because I don’t even know what you believe.  I’m not sure where you’re at with all this.”

“I’ll tell you what I do know,” I replied.  “We’re a nation divided.  I mean, if you watch MSNBC and Fox News on any given night it’s like two trains going in opposite directions… and a divided nation won’t stand.”

He was staring at me intently, so I continued.  “There are those on one side who desire one world under dreams of peace and harmony and others who value their nation, their culture, and their flag.”

As soon as I said flag, his face puckered a little, like he ate something sour. Then he said:  “But we are a racist nation.  Racism is still a huge problem in America.”

At first I thought about mentioning Oprah Winfrey and Jussie Smollett, as well as Tiger Woods’ recent win at the Masters, but decided it might appear to him as being condescending; like when rednecks talk about having black friends. So I went in different direction instead.

“That’s the thing…,” I said, “I’ve always been for the working man.  Main Street over Wall Street.  Trump was for the working man, right?  But the Democrats, now they’re only interested in genitalia and skin color.  It’s all about identity politics nowadays, ya’ know?”

He looked at me and quipped, “You may be right about that”.

I continued. “Everything is now left-right … like a football game… red versus blue and blue versus red.  They’re down on the field and we’re all watching TV and choosing sides.  But you know who I’m looking at mostly?”

“Who?” he asked.

“The guys over on the side of the field wearing sunglasses and standing by the Humvee with the assault rifles slung over their shoulders.”

He laughed.  “You know…, the way you were talking earlier I was thinking you’re a conspiracy theorist!”

I thought to myself: Just like clockwork. Every damn time. It NEVER fails.

And I smiled right back at him.  “But aren’t you the one who said Trump was controlled by Russia?  Hell! Even Bob Mueller doesn’t believe that.  Yet you do.  So tell me, who’s the conspiracy theorist here?”

I could tell he didn’t like that direction in the conversation and he quickly changed the subject.  “Who do you think will win the Democratic nomination? A lot of people think it will be Biden, but I hope it’s not him”.

“Do you think Biden will run?” I asked.

“Absolutely. I do. But I hope it’s not him or Bernie,” said he.

I laughed.  “It would be fun to watch Trump run against either one. Not sure if he would have beat Bernie in 2016 though.”

“No way,” he replied.

In responding to that, I said: “And that’s another thing, it was like Hillary was destined to win the primaries, ya know?”

He nodded. “Yeah. I know.”

“Worst presidential candidate ever,” I added with a wry smile and watched his expression.”

He frowned. “But the thing about Trump is that he’s not presidential. He’s a con man. There’s so many better Republicans than him.”

“Yeah,” I responded, “But that’s kind of the nature of the beast, nowadays, huh?”

“What do you mean?”

“You know…, reality TV.”

“Oh. Yeah,” he mumbled.

I continued.  “Well, I think we’re pretty close in age, so we both grew up at the tail end of Norman Rockwell’s America…”

Then, he interrupted me:  “Actually, I think I’m older than you. How old are you?”

I told him.

He said, “Yeah, I’m five years older than you”.

“Really?” I replied.  “That’s bizarre.”

“Why is that?” he asked.

I said, “Because you seem kind of immature.”

First, he frowned, before his eyes met mine and he seemed pissed. Then he burst into laughter, leaning his head back.

I was laughing too and noticed his eyes were smiling for the first time.

After a few seconds, he asked me: “You really don’t think the Russians helped to elect Trump?”

I responded: “No, I don’t believe it happened.”

At that, a shadow crossed his face.  He couldn’t understand that. He shook his head, literally, staring at me like I was an alien life-form.

I said, “Look…, I realize many people believe that and Robert Mueller even said as much in his report. But, at the same time, there are many others who believe a sitting president spied on a presidential candidate. In fact, there is more proof of FISA abuse and the intelligence sting that was called ‘Crossfire Hurricane’ than Russian election hacking.  And all of that makes Watergate pale in comparison.”

He simply shook his head and, with a dismissive wave of his right hand, he said: “Bring it on.”

“I guess we’ll have to wait and see,” I said. “Time will tell, right?”.

We bantered a little more and then I left.

At the time, it seemed right to go easy on him. There would have been no benefit to us yelling at each other that day and, besides, he wouldn’t have believed anything I would have told him and vice versa.  Looking back though, if I could have done anything differently, I would have asked him how he thought the Mueller investigation started in the first place since no collusion was discovered by Mueller; even if only to hear his answer.

I’d also like to think it was a good start and that maybe more opportunities will become available in the near future to continue the conversation. But, at the same time, I don’t care either way.  Because, honestly, we are on different tracks and traveling in opposite directions.

—-

(That was the end until I added the following:)

Epilogue

A few days after our meeting, I began to recall how the dude was so upset that I didn’t care that our president was Putin’s stooge.  Here this guy is flying upside down with his head up his ass and not knowing north from south. And he thought I was the idiot. Me.

Unbelievable.

And then I realized – when the economy crashes, this guy is going to believe Trump did it on purpose to take America down. What will our conversations be like then?

Now, a week later, I’m thinking to hell with that guy.

Then, today, I learned from Newsweek magazine how the longest-serving GOP member of the Iowa Legislature announced he’s changing parties to become a Democrat.  Why?  Because of Trump’s “unprecedented divisiveness”.

This, on the heels of Republican Senator Mittens Romney of Utah declaring he was “sickened” by the Mueller Report’s findings; and none other than Hillary Rodham Clinton informally advising the U.S. House on impeaching Donald Trump.

What is happening to our nation? It’s unexplainable.

Insanity.

Langston Hughes caught my attention when I first studied American Literature. He is truly PROFOUND.

Let America Be America Again – Poem by Langston Hughes

Let America be America again.
Let it be the dream it used to be.
Let it be the pioneer on the plain
Seeking a home where he himself is free.

(America never was America to me.)

Let America be the dream the dreamers dreamed–
Let it be that great strong land of love
Where never kings connive nor tyrants scheme
That any man be crushed by one above.

(It never was America to me.)

O, let my land be a land where Liberty
Is crowned with no false patriotic wreath,
But opportunity is real, and life is free,
Equality is in the air we breathe.

(There’s never been equality for me,
Nor freedom in this “homeland of the free.”)

Say, who are you that mumbles in the dark?
And who are you that draws your veil across the stars?

I am the poor white, fooled and pushed apart,
I am the Negro bearing slavery’s scars.
I am the red man driven from the land,
I am the immigrant clutching the hope I seek–
And finding only the same old stupid plan
Of dog eat dog, of mighty crush the weak.

I am the young man, full of strength and hope,
Tangled in that ancient endless chain
Of profit, power, gain, of grab the land!
Of grab the gold! Of grab the ways of satisfying need!
Of work the men! Of take the pay!
Of owning everything for one’s own greed!

I am the farmer, bondsman to the soil.
I am the worker sold to the machine.
I am the Negro, servant to you all.
I am the people, humble, hungry, mean–
Hungry yet today despite the dream.
Beaten yet today–O, Pioneers!
I am the man who never got ahead,
The poorest worker bartered through the years.

Yet I’m the one who dreamt our basic dream
In the Old World while still a serf of kings,
Who dreamt a dream so strong, so brave, so true,
That even yet its mighty daring sings
In every brick and stone, in every furrow turned
That’s made America the land it has become.
O, I’m the man who sailed those early seas
In search of what I meant to be my home–
For I’m the one who left dark Ireland’s shore,
And Poland’s plain, and England’s grassy lea,
And torn from Black Africa’s strand I came
To build a “homeland of the free.”

The free?

Who said the free? Not me?
Surely not me? The millions on relief today?
The millions shot down when we strike?
The millions who have nothing for our pay?
For all the dreams we’ve dreamed
And all the songs we’ve sung
And all the hopes we’ve held
And all the flags we’ve hung,
The millions who have nothing for our pay–
Except the dream that’s almost dead today.

O, let America be America again–
The land that never has been yet–
And yet must be–the land where every man is free.
The land that’s mine–the poor man’s, Indian’s, Negro’s, ME–
Who made America,
Whose sweat and blood, whose faith and pain,
Whose hand at the foundry, whose plow in the rain,
Must bring back our mighty dream again.

Sure, call me any ugly name you choose–
The steel of freedom does not stain.
From those who live like leeches on the people’s lives,
We must take back our land again,
America!

O, yes,
I say it plain,
America never was America to me,
And yet I swear this oath–
America will be!

Out of the rack and ruin of our gangster death,
The rape and rot of graft, and stealth, and lies,
We, the people, must redeem
The land, the mines, the plants, the rivers.
The mountains and the endless plain–
All, all the stretch of these great green states–
And make America again!

Echoes are funny things, aren’t they? Sound without true vibrations, just the record of vibrations sort of floating through the air until caught by a receiver.

I wonder what Yertle the California Turtle could engineerify about that?

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
Langston Hughes

OMG… look what you’ve done.

I’d forgotten this one

MOTHER TO SON!!!!!

Well, son, I’ll tell you:
Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.
It’s had tacks in it,
And splinters,
And boards torn up,
And places with no carpet on the floor—
Bare.
But all the time
I’se been a-climbin’ on,
And reachin’ landin’s,
And turnin’ corners,
And sometimes goin’ in the dark
Where there ain’t been no light.
So, boy, don’t you turn back.
Don’t you set down on the steps.
‘Cause you finds it’s kinder hard.
Don’t you fall now—
For I’se still goin’, honey,
I’se still climbin’,
And life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.

Langston Hughes was a very good poet, and while I may not be able to relate to his perspective- me as a working man bondsman to the soil, and he a cocktail party liberal drifting through the salons being stroked and petted for his wordsmithery- I can still discern a sharp intellect, even if it is far more provincial than anything you’d find in a farming hamlet because of his cosmopolitan urbanity.

It was never America for him because it was never meant to be. That must be a terrific pill to have to swallow, but it also shows that he was every bit as misguided- and remained until his death- by the mythology of America’s backstory. The words were so powerful, so inspirational, that he mistook them to mean he was a part of it, that it was intended for him to share in it’s fulfillment. And when he received the awards, the acclaim, the accolades, and the prestige that accompanied his patronizing rise in stature and subsequent move up the economic ladder there remained no satisfaction in it because those things were never the real goal of the American Dream, nor were they adequate substitutes for what he was looking for and what could never be found in the USA for him even if he lived a thousand years. And that’s all I ever hear in his writing, no matter how polished and refined it became.

That was a really great piece Doug, and it encapsulated the crux of our problem; that there is one America, but that there are numerous factions trying desperately to claim it for themselves and that even if they win it, it will vanish in the air like a mist, impossible to hold onto because it could never belong to them, and in this realization there is only one option left, to destroy the memory of it forever.

Factions are peculiar things.

James Madison had some ideas about it a long time ago. Nobody reads his stuff much.

http://avalon.law.yale.edu/18th_century/fed10.asp

Wikipedia hasn’t filtered out all knowledge. Yet.

“By a faction, I understand a number of citizens, whether amounting to a majority or a minority of the whole, who are united and actuated by some common impulse of passion, or of interest, adversed to the rights of other citizens, or to the permanent and aggregate interests of the community.

There are two methods of curing the mischiefs of faction: the one, by removing its causes; the other, by controlling its effects.

There are again two methods of removing the causes of faction: the one, by destroying the liberty which is essential to its existence; the other, by giving to every citizen the same opinions, the same passions, and the same interests.

It could never be more truly said than of the first remedy, that it was worse than the disease.

Liberty is to faction what air is to fire, an aliment without which it instantly expires.

But it could not be less folly to abolish liberty, which is essential to political life, because it nourishes faction, than it would be to wish the annihilation of air, which is essential to animal life, because it imparts to fire its destructive agency.”

I learned to like Langston Hughes when I returned to college, determined to make as many A’s as possible as quickly as possible to lift that abysmal 2.3 GPA I’d managed to leave Missouri carrying around my academic neck like an albatross.

I had a cheery little teacher named Dr. Rainwater who wore frilly dresses with flowers on them. Often, real flowers. She assigned the class to read some of his work and I was swept up in the same sort of academic charade encompassing all of our colleges during the 1990s. But, the poem I chose to analyze was one about how it felt to be the only child at an old-fashioned tent revival left sitting on a pew.

Because he’d been told he would know it was time to claim his salvation when Jesus invited him to the altar. He waited and waited and all the other kids were asked, obviously. Except him. And he was really looking hard.

I don’t remember which of his poems or works contained that but it struck me as profound then and still does.

The thing about the “ropes?”

They are made of parachute lanyard and if you need some good rope in the field… maybe to catch a rabbit or a squirrel in a trap, a parachute lanyard is good stuff to have.

But, the ropes are impressive too.

That’s the market clearing function of the 4th Turning the competing visions and definitions of America get reconciled into a single vision as one point of view is essentially eliminated (for a short time). Thus after the revolution, we were no longer part the British empire (Tories destroyed) after the civil war states were wholly subservient to the central government and in WWII we decided that government welfare states and crony capitalism were preferable to free markets and individual liberty.

In this conflict will the nation-state itself disappear in favor of a globalist controlled feudal system with communism for the masses and cronyism for the elite (hence feudalism).

@HSF: Eloquently stated.
The rise of Identity Politics, the destruction of the family and Christian morality (yes, Christianity formed the basis of what we once used as a moral code) the destruction of education that actually taught something of value rather than Identity politics and allegiance to the status quo, coupled with the usual greedy and power hungry men and women grasping for control have gotten us to this point.

The deadly weapon that the power hungry had in their arsenal was and is, television and, to a lesser extent. movies. Those were and are used to push propaganda to mold the populace into following and acting along party lines. Think Orwell’s Big Brother and his ten minutes of hate of Emmanuel Goldstein to understand where we are as a nation. The indoctrination has worked well, those responsive to the programming are following the script that has been subconsciously imprinted in their brains.

They thinks it worth theirs.

You are a better man than I, Doug. First, I would not have any association with people like this unless I knew them to be high character otherwise–but then I would have demanded long ago that we would not discuss what we could never agree on.

Secondly, I usually am much harsher and direct with my onslaught. I don’t devolve into the “what about your team’s crimes/faults”… I let it be known up front that I am an equal opportunity despiser: the Bush clan, McCain, the Clintons, Paul Ryan, Pelosi, Schumer…all are the self-serving dregs of humanity playing their prescribed roles.

Assigned a “team” like a sorting hat announcing “Gryffindor” they fall into their roles of military aggression and foreign intervention RED–or breadcrumbs and trivial “free” chit to the impoverished BLUE– but either way the normal people trying to go about living with as little interference as possible from Big Gov are the bugs on the windshield of our Nation as it careens toward the edge of the cliff.

If they are cultishly devout in their commitment to a TEAM–either team– then I really cannot have an intelligent discussion with them. For they are the problem.

Javelin says:

….I would not have any association with people like this unless I knew them to be high character otherwise–but then I would have demanded long ago that we would not discuss what we could never agree on.

What’s funny is that’s the way it usually is with friendships and acquaintances. Best to focus upon things for which we are in agreement.

And we did talk about that as well toward the end. I even mentioned the Matrix and he said he never saw the movie. But when I explained what happened after Neo swallowed the red pill (i.e. seismic worldview shift), he said it sounded pretty interesting.

Although I didn’t get as far with him that day, I usually stick to the procedure(s) as outlined in my March 2017 article entitled: “How to Woo a Moonbatted Snowflake”.

But it’s a slow process because I have to decide if they’re worth it first; and, especially, only after I’m convinced they can be trustworthy friends.

Although the jury is still (somewhat) out on this one, he’s not a bad guy overall. Sort of younger hippie. Had some hardships that he overcame and is still overcoming. A businessman with an artistic streak as a blues and jazz guitarist.

We’ll see…, but for the most part, I remain cautiously pessimistic.

Enjoyable read, 7-Up. Thank you.

As I’m sure most TBP readers know, the startling ignorance of the left is rife throughout the Western world, not least here in Canada. Our media is shameful not only for its habit of lying through commission or omission on virtually every matter of importance, but in its slavish devotion to the narratives dictated by its Big Brother media in the USA. CNN says Trump is a Russian puppet, then CBC, CTV, Global, the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star and the rest will do the same. And, of course, most of our brain-dead citizens believe what the MSM tell them. It’s hopeless to try to change their minds. They know a totally different reality than we do. (I have to admit, if the Mueller report concluded Trump was guilty of colluding with the Russians, I wouldn’t have believed it. He was working for the Deep State, after all. So we’re all prisoners of our convictions.)

And that is something I think about every day since the Mueller Report’s release. How easy would it have been to frame Trump by finding collusion? The truth has never mattered before. Why now?

Think about it. Is all of this just happening?

Because there was no underlying crime…..Not only did Trump not “rob the bank” but NO bank was robbed in the first place. There was as the Mueller report indicates No Collusion by Trump, the Trump Campaign or in fact any American with Russians………Bank was never robbed…..so it is ridiculous to suggest obstruction of a non-crime. Mueller and his band of deep state sycophants did their best to throw shade and mud on Trump but even they can’t simply manufacture evidence without fear of being caught and exposed…so they did not.

Remember there was no predicate crime for any of the use of the US intelligence tools against Trump……nobody walked and said: “I saw Trump/Trump team working with Russians” never happened. What happened is that the NSA database going back to 2012-2010 was being routinely used to spy on Obama’s and the deep state’s political enemies and they ramped it up when Trump made noises about getting in the race in 2015. The investigations of Trump were there to simply cover up and justify the wholly illegal spying that had already happened.

The interesting question is how far will Trump go in exposing this and holding those responsible accountable up to and including Obama?

The lib-sheeple heads are really going to explode.

But the intelligence agencies had software like “Umbrage” (see Wikileaks “Vault 7”) where they could implant hacks with Russian fingerprints. How easy for the CIA to pin similar on the Trumpster? It would have been as easy as stealing a piece of cake from a baby. Why didn’t they do it?

This came up on the derided “Q” boards in various forms and places; I ran across a few. The one I found most believable runs something like this: the CIA (through cutouts like Oswald and Ruby) killed JFK, and GOT AWAY WITH IT. That emboldened them; they decided to run the country from there on out. LBJ, Nixon, both Bushes, Clinton, Obama; each and every one of them was OWNED. Either they were already part of it (like Bush Sr. was a former CIA director) or various agents in / around their administrations (like Clapper & Brennan) were in place to pass along the orders and ensure compliance if necessary.
Somewhere around 2014 the military revolted; there were enough old school / honest / uncompromised actors in place to issue the CIA an ultimatum; END THIS. Get out of the game, let the people elect their president using the Electoral College and quit eliminating the candidates you don’t control. Do this or we will occupy Langley and EXECUTE EVERYONE WE FIND, TRACE OR LOCATE who ever worked with or for the CIA, and anyone who cooperated, benefited, retired or profited from this. And we WILL NOT STOP, ordinary ranks to special forces, until you are gone, each and every one of you. There will be no second chances, no reprieves or pardons. END THIS, NOW. OR WE WILL END YOU, DOWN TO THE LAST ONE.
This seems overly melodramatic, until you reflect; what LESSER stimulus would have kept them from keeping it up? Stopped them from putting the selected Hillary into the WH to serve their ends while enriching herself further (and the CIA has no problem with corruption, it’s a handy handle on the operators). If they turn on their owners and /or refuse an instruction, the corruption gets exposed (using the pliant, cooperative press) and / or the operator gets terminated (say, Seth Rich style). Why did they quit?
Of course, this scenario all comes from the absurd “Q” LARP / psyop, so some of you will reject the suggestion out of hand. Globalist wet dreams like TPP and Paris Climate Accords fell of their own weight, right? The increased number of pedophiles / human traffickers / slimelords of all stripes in prison is just random, right? Going from a President who routinely apologized for America to one trying to MAGA was just the tide going in and out, right? Nothing to do with anything, just random chance, right?
The above is not provable, so it’s just one explanation of how we went from oil importer to oil exporter, weak dollar to strong dollar (probably temporary, but still) and silence on illegal immigration to at least talking about it. It has, however, some interesting coherence, and if we ever find out what really happened, stands open to revision as better information appears.

I read the title on Steve Quayle’s site, and I KNEW it would be an ‘Uncola’ piece !

I had a similar experience just the other day with a black man I have known for nearly four decades……he delivers the ‘Daily Metropolis’ newspaper early in the a.m. (around 3 he gets his route papers from the city guy). We have periodically bumped into one another, discuss a recent headline for a minute or two, and move on. The other morning, however, I mentioned the NM militia escorting a group of several hundred coughing illegals to the BP; it unleashed a “leev dem peeeple lone” with a rant to how they ‘owned’ the land anyway…..”it was took from em”….on to reparations…..and it didn’t stop until I stepped up on the curb with him, looked him in the eye, and called him a raycists POS !

annuit coeptis novus ordo seclorum- on going story, no one really gives a shit about, but just this morning, I had three different local yocal cops “checking to see if you’re doing okay” as I make my daily 3-5 mile walks…..all from voicing my opinion about the ongoing ‘elevated terror threat’ while the border is wide open….

I told the sarge this morning, what I see is Edward Bernays social engineering at it’s best…you are not automatically “heroes” because you put a badge/gun on, you’re well paid, and anytime you don’t like “the danger of a small town cop job”, find somethin else to do….I also, ALWAYS, let them know that I understand there is about a 75% chance that I’m talking to a freemason….none have yet denied it.

“Think about it. Is all of this just happening?”

Based on the preponderance of ‘coincedences’……I believe it has all been planned before any here were even a twinkle in the eye !

And by saying this I am in no way asserting it as fact, the DEEP DEEP STATE could have cashed in the “Old” Deep State to pave the way for the “New” multilateral Deep State.
How can I protest? At least superficially I must cheer.

Great story Doug. It illustrates perfectly how completely brain washed the progressives are and why the US MSM can continue, 24/7, to get away with their lying propaganda act. Facts literally mean NOTHING to these people. They can’t see, or think critically, even the admitted election fraud with CNN sharing debate questions with HRC. Any fair minded person would think that wrong. I won’t even speak to my sister because she thinks just like your friend. And no facts, figures, or review of history is going to change her way of thinking. We’re done as a united country. They are given an audience and that makes them appear significant and in order to garner that audience they have to be ‘aggrieved’ and upset and look like they’re taking a higher road than their fellow.

They have to promote the prevailing agenda to get the attention and the agenda is Progressivism aka:Totalitarianism.

I see only two alternatives for our desperately dysfunctional government to yank the reigns on and increasingly restive populace that questions its authority to govern. Ignite a hot war with a nation-searing false flag that has a suddenly unified Congress declaring war – or take down the grid. Flip a coin. Either way, heads or tails, 99% of the sheeple will mew for Uncle Sam’s guiding hand and they’ll get it; Marshal Law.

Which means that whatever you have that gives you a survival advantage won’t be yours for long. Centralized governments prefer to steal by faucet-drip theft (multiple layers of taxes), but the NDAA is Uncle Sam’s hall pass to point a muzzle at every face and take everything it needs to shelter and feed those “sequestered” in pacified zones.

A hidey-hole stocked with guns and grits is a corner surrounded by paint. Eventually, it will be clear to everyone, blue and red, that our Federal Government is an instrument of tyranny against all of us. By then, most countries won’t be admitting American refugees who know that resurrecting our Republic’s respect for personal liberty and unassailable property rights is a fantasy.

The Unified Sissy Association (50 “Feed Me First” cafeterias) was built on personal responsibility and the courage to stand against corrupt governance. Those qualities have disappeared from the shelves of your local hardware store and have been banned by your City Council, State Legislatures, and the DC Swamp.

If the grid were to go down folks might benefit from a simple expedient few seem aware of. Back in the day tradesman like my uncle had an inverter/outlet for 110 volt stuff wired into their trucks. You don’t need to mess with a generator which will not run as long as an idling car or truck. Pull up next to the house and run your refrigerator or freezer or whatever for a while every few hours. It goes with you wherever you go too.

Yes you certainly can, it just requires a dedicated circuit from the battery using heavy gauge cable and its own fuse or breaker, then a pure sine wave inverter with a constant load rating of over 2kW and peak load over 4kW. Not difficult at all. And fuck sail fawns.

It will in the given scenario of a gasoline or diesel powered vehicle being used instead of a standalone generator. Basic family cars have at least 100 amp alternators. Most cars and trucks have larger alternators than that. It isn’t the single battery as that is merely the connection point easiest to access after the voltage regulator. There ain’t a fridge I’ve ever seen needs more than what an old Geo Metro could run with its alternator. I run my full size fridge and several lights, plus various minor accessories on a cheap harbor freight 3kW generator during hurricane season. It’s never come close to maxxing out the gen’s capacity. Using my cars as generators is the backup plan and I have tested it. Totally works.

My retreat in a Cascade mountain valley has a year-round lake, fed by two creeks, emptying into a larger creek on a steep gradient. Perfect for microhydro. Water is a $0 cost fuel for a turbine. Taxes = $168/year.

A “weekender” cabin, perched on top of a full height 200 SF concrete basement with a 2nd story is a lot more space than most pioneer families had. 200 SF buildings require no permit and add zero value to the tax base.

I’ll be glad to pay an annual $200 property tax to snore through the revolution.

Won’t even engage anymore with people like that. For a couple reasons.
Debating, and making a strong case for my views and knowledge of facts is not a strong suit. We can always think of things later, that should have, could have been said, that would have made a great counter-point.
But typically, in real time, heated emotions overrule logic, reason, and quick wit.

Your story was interesting to read, Doug.
There are rare people who are good at rebutting, while engaging the rants of a Lib lunatic.
They are fun to watch, as they dismantle and frustrate the idiots, reducing them to angry souls.
You can almost see the steam coming out of ears, astride the furrowed brows and scowls.
But some, with all they’ve learned, are still not talented enough to win debates with the Libtards. So, we opt out.

Avoiding debate allows some semblance of social interaction without all the potential negative drama. Screw it. Rather just ignore their stupidity, their catch phrase, buzzword commentary, knowing it’s just memorized mantra they’ve heard from guzzling the Kool-Aid of the media input they absorb. Their ‘sources’ are in concert together.

Case in point. Was at a luncheon, surrounded by LibProg women. Two of which were married to each other.
Both of their mothers were present. Hillary was their gal. Trump is evil incarnate. You know the mindset type.
One of the millennial lesbos made a comment about a visiting a country subdivision, with the area being generally nice, except for seeing a Confederate flag flying.
A conservative among us made a passing comment about some houses waving more of those.
To which one of the Moms said those houses would do well to just be torched. WTF? A kid was in attendance.

So, the afterthought, days later was, “Last I checked, arson was a crime. And for what, a flag you find objectionable?
We won’t even try to re-educate you about Union vs. Confederacy, what started it, and the flag symbolism.
There are some who find the rainbow flag as representative of an objectionable lifestyle…always in the face of heteros, demanding respect, indoctrinating our youth, deviant behavior tolerance, etc.
Yet, if an extremist deplorable advocated torching houses that fly the rainbow, the ProgLib ‘tards would go apeshit, condemning all who are of the same political ideology. Ban them from any / every social media platform.
But, in their hypocrite brain, even if mentioned as a snarky comment, torching a Confederate flag waver’s home is something deemed acceptable, since they’re easily identified as racist threats to all Americans. Madness.

The saddest part? These are professional women, with educations. The millennial one was a school teacher, too.
They truly think that they are more intelligent than their perceived enemies, the traditionalist conservative types.
To them, everything they find objectionable, and every person they disagree with, has a name. A label. As a member of a group of things they find detestable. To be smeared, in almost any situation.

Turn it around 180, and conservative traditionalists have words describing the Prog-Libs, too.
Same coin, different sides.

A house divided, indeed.
This is a marriage that has morphed into a separation, with a bitter divorce to follow. Irreconcilable differences.
Furthermore, there are figurative kids involved, and property ownership and boundary lines at stake, in this fight.
Sad, to think that a divorced liberal woman has no use anymore for her traditionalist ex-husband.
Until the dark man predator comes calling, who hates them both. Who then, will be there to protect her?

It’s only unexplainable if you don’t know the bible, you don’t know Jesus.

Otherwise it’s totally understandable and predictable.

It’s coming. He’s coming. Be ready.

At the last trump. The trump of God.

What you are witnessing first hand is strong spiritual delusion, the product of a reprobate mind.

When we make a conscious, willful decision to disregard God’s Word, God’s way, God, knowing each person’s individual heart will at some point seal our free will choice of unbelief in Him.

It works both ways for ungodly liberal progressives, tradtional conservatives, and everyone else in between that reject Him and His free gift of salvation by grace and through faith in the substitutionary and resurrection of His only begotten Son Jesus the Messiah.

What is coming cannot be stopped by man. Only condemned or redeemed by God.

The only true question for each of us is what side of eternity are we on?

Doug. I have not finished reading all of the comments yet but I am sure that they are glowing. But let me point out a couple of things. First off, you were trying to RED pill him, he was trying to BLUE pill you. I know it’s a small distinction in a well crafted offering but the reason that I bring it up is that your story, be it fact or fiction, is at the heart of what I have been banging on about. You can only change the mind of a human being by talking to them. It will be your ideas that change their world view, or their ideas that change yours. Oh and there is nothing wrong with both minds being changed a bit.

Your bud had his own interpretation of what was going on, and you had another. He expressed his thoughts, and you expressed yours. In the end, if you related the story as it actually occurred, then I would suggest that you might have introduced him into a greater world. Well, maybe not greater because of course, none of us agree most of the time and frequently our arguments are much more heated than the one that you had with your acquaintance. He asked your opinion because he wanted to hear what you had to say. He brought it up. He sees the cracks in the walls that surround the criminals. He wants to understand but his training holds him back. You relate a story of his awakening. You accomplished this awakening by being willing to confront him in a calm controlled manner. This is exactly what I have been saying we all should be doing. You don’t change minds by yelling. You change minds by offering alternatives to the reality that is expressed. You are the rock in the sea. They are the waves. They race across the ocean to find you standing in their path and they hurl themselves upon you trying to tear you down, but you are the rock. It is they who split. It is they who see their energy dissipate. (And yes, I know that the constant action of the waves will wear upon the rock, but not today. Not today.

You did exactly the right thing in exactly the right way. I charge each of you to follow in Doug’s footsteps. Seek out your enemy. Have prepared your thoughts. Remain calm. Be the rock.

It’s apparent you haven’t attempted too many mind changes with true dyed in the wool liberals. You like getting physically attacked? Guess who does the attacking when they hear something they don’t like spoken in a calm voice.
You also seem to have missed the actions of those reasonable folk when they attack conservatives on campus. Bet you have a Coexist bumper sticker.

So I don’t know where you live, but I live in Southern California. With the exception of San Francisco, with it’s overwhelmingly gay population, there are few more liberal places than LA. Practically everybody that I interact with is liberal. Hell, I worked at Disney for 24 years. Half of the employees are gay and extremely liberal. Having said that, I can’t think of a single time that any of those people ever made me feel uncomfortable and I never felt that I was likely to be physically attacked. Maybe you have.

I, like you, have seen the violent nature of antifa. I personally don’t live close enough to Berkley to interact with violent leftists and I have never actually met a violent leftist. But I have met many non-violent leftists. My experience has been that civil people can have a civil discussion with people who disagree with them. Perhaps that has not been your experience.

Still, my contention is that if you don’t at least try to talk to them then you can never hope to change their minds.

mygirl

You make an assumption that I don’t talk to leftists. I live with them, and they’ve gotten violent when disagreed with. You are correct in assuming that my experience differs from yours. I have also reached the point where I don’t really care what they think: East is East and West is West and never the twain shall meet.
I do find it interesting that you seem to have singled me out to lecture. Why is that? And I’m not being accusatory here, I’m genuinely curious.

Thank you, HR. I appreciated that. Very much.

It brought to mind something I heard someone say one time. It was similar to this:

“Communication is the lifeblood of any relationship and once blocked, or abandoned, the relationship dies.”

Looking back, there were some other details I left out for brevity. For example, when I showed up, he said he forgot our appointment and, as I mentioned above, he seemed very agitated. When I asked if we should reschedule he said “Oh no! Not at all! This is fine!” in (what seemed to me) a phony “over-the-top” way.

Then, later, he told me his plans had changed which pretty much negated my need to be there in the first place.

So, in summary, I confirmed a time to meet at his initial request, he forgot the meeting and in the few days interim, refused to let me know his situation had changed which was our primary reason for getting together. WTF

Although I thought all of that was baffling -(& since we were not doing business) it was forgivable and I was glad to see what he was up too with the new place. Not a big deal and in the initial awkwardness of getting to know someone, there are often the usual and expected bumps along the way.

In the end, however, given his state of agitation and our not knowing each other overly well, I decided to play it as delineated above.

Even so, as the days went on afterward, I began to think about it all and became progressively more pissed. Uh, oh. My mind can be like a pit bull’s bite at times and it will take me into dark places if I’m not careful. So I wrote this last night and felt better immediately. I added the epilogue around 1:30 AM and can now move on. Plus, I always enjoy the commentary from the readers here; present company included.

It’s good to you’re all out there.

Doug –

This is one of those articles that, to me, “reads” shorter than it actually is. It’s brevity is misleading, in that, well, you use the word “echo” but I feel like I took a bite and then another and another, and an hour later, I’m still chewing.

How are we to have a discussion regarding facts with “open-minded” people who are not open to intellectual discourse? If certain questions elicit a hostile reaction, what recourse is there?

I don’t know. But I have an idea where/when this started to get out of control: the Telecommunications Act of 1996 allowed for the massive centralization of the communications industry, after which everybody bought everybody and apparently, Disney owns them all. So the media in this country is literally a Mickey-Mouse operation. Anyway, if there were more than 6 (or is it 5 now) companies in charge of everything we see, hear, read on the TV, radio, or “newspapers” this brainwashing (LIE, LIE, RINSE, REPEAT) that we are living is not happening.

So, just as the Interstate Banking Act of 1994 allowed for the centralization of the banking system, and, in conjunction with the Repeal of Glass-Steagall in 1999, opened the door for the financial crisis of 2008, I think the Telecom act opened the door for the social/cultural collapse that we are living now. And it’s been ongoing for twenty years already, getting worse and worse. . . talking heads babble on, babble on, babylon.

“He was too far gone and it’s too late for him anyway. Or maybe I just didn’t give a shit. I’m still not sure.”

That happens, doesn’t it… at each and every opportunity. Decisions to be made. Seems you made the correct call with this one. They are worth the effort until they are not.

“What is happening to our nation? It’s unexplainable.”

It is explainable though and rather easily at that.

2 Tim 3:13… “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.”

The evil will continue (and along with it, the opportunity of salvation from wrath (and so much more) by grace alone) until God puts a stop to all of it.

Past (Genesis – Acts)
Present (Romans – Philemon)
Future (Hebrews – Revelation)

The Bible is a (capitol “T” truth) timeline with a beginning, middle and end. “Prophesy… (mystery) …prophesy fulfilled.”

You are here —-> “mystery” (Romans – Philemon)

1 Cor 2:7-8… “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

Thank you Father for crucifying your Son. Thank you for sending Paul to explain it all.

You do realize Stucky that sin is mans fault, not Gods; and it will be eradicated at some point in the future… The flood stands as a preview of wrath to come. Will you learn from it? He created this world to be “very good” and we, with satan’s eager assistance, screwed it up. It will be very good once again as one does not mess with the Most High God.

Romans 5:12 KJB… “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”

Appreciate the kind thoughts as always.

Romans 5:21 KJB… “That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.”

There is much that is hypocritical in his untenable position.

Peter 3:16

as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.

So there you have it folks! Who knew that GCP was a man da Lawd singing kumbaya from the same book as Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and a host of others on the left…

Actually, it was a mystery hid in God, but now it’s not. It’s written for anyone to see. So basically… just the opposite of what you’re saying is actual.

Ephesians 3:1-4 KJB… “For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)”

And, now this from the following Politico article….

‘This is risky’: Trump’s thirst for Mueller revenge could land him in trouble

Team Trump’s bellicose tweets and public statements in the last few days are potentially exposing Trump to fresh charges of witness intimidation, obstruction of justice and impeding a congressional investigation — not to mention giving lawmakers more fodder for their presidential probes — according to Democrats and legal experts.

But Politico never allows their readers to know what Trump’s exact Tweets said.

And I guess by your comment above anyone who points out Trump’s elitist ties, rhetoric and talk along with his ignorant blanket statements about Mexicans being “rapists and criminals” then I must be lumped in with the libtards?

C’mon man!!!

When someone says this,

When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.

He “assumes” that “some” are food people…
His elitist hubris seeps out in such comments…. holding such a high position of power such as President of the United States of America, and saying such things makes the rest of us look like bigots and idiots…

Let us not forget Trump’s campaign rhetoric speaking Truth about the cooked booked unemployment numbers

And our real unemployment is anywhere from 18 to 20 percent. Don’t believe the 5.6. Don’t believe it.

That’s right. A lot of people up there can’t get jobs. They can’t get jobs, because there are no jobs, because China has our jobs and Mexico has our jobs. They all have jobs.

But the real number, the real number is anywhere from 18 to 19 and maybe even 21 percent, and nobody talks about it, because it’s a statistic that’s full of nonsense.

And yet, now President Trump on Easter no less boasts

“Happy Easter!” he tweeted early on Sunday morning. “I have never been happier or more content because your Country is doing so well, with an Economy that is the talk of the World and may be stronger than it has ever been before. Have a great day!”

The time for talk isn’t over yet, but it might as well be because further talk isn’t going to accomplish anything. Neither side is going to convert to the other side in any significant numbers, if at all. The only talk from this point forward should be how to accomplish a divorce. (See my comment below).

Doug, well put “We’re a nation divided. I mean, if you watch MSNBC and Fox News on any given night it’s like two trains going in opposite directions… and a divided nation won’t stand”.

You are right that it won’t stand. Sooner or later, probably sooner, a split is going to happen, probably accompanied by a civil war. It would be nice if enough people could figure out that that is going to happen, and try to do it peacefully instead of waiting until a civil war starts, but unfortunately I don’t think that is going to happen.

Uncola,

Thank you for sharing your personal encounter. I have learned to remain calm in the face of hubris, arrogance, ignorance and delusions but the attrition suffered can ware on you.

I applaud your mentioning of the film The Matrix. Whenever I talk to people and mention the film and people have never seen it, I am flabbergasted!

Truly a MUST WATCH JUST LIKE V for Vendetta that admin has written several articles about! I suppose the ironic thing about the movies is the fact that they were written and directed by individuals formerly known as the Wachowski Brothers (circa 2010), now known as the Waxhowskis, Lilly and Lana.

Conundrums abound.

I always try and give anyone who will listen a different set of sunglasses to look through a la the cult classic They Live!

Keep on keeping on, MAN!

I hope another tale is in order about this friend as I hope he begins his decent down the rabbit hole like many of us here on TBP have.

Great piece, Doug. Remember, however, red-pilling someone (or oneself for that matter) is a PROCESS, there are no words, no arguments, no facts, no reason, no common sense, nothing that can make is happen in a single conversation. I think you sensed, on some level, that this person had hope….and maybe that’s why you went “easy” on him. Nobody has ever convinced anyone of anything by first calling that person an idiot.

“The problem isn’t that Johnny can’t read. The problem isn’t even that Johnny can’t think. The problem is that Johnny doesn’t know what thinking is; he confuses it with feeling.”

-Thomas Sowell

This is the fundamental issue, or part of the fundamental issue. The other part is that whenever ANYONE reads that quote, yup, that’s what people do, all right. No me, of course, I’m as rational as the day is long.

Bullshit of the highest order. Our subconscious minds run huge arrays of incredibly complex code that is ancient, primal, powerful and hidden. These systems can overwhelm the rational systems with such ridiculous ease, it’s like Lebron playing basketball against a toddler. And it’s true for all of us, no matter how rational we may think ourselves.

The best we can do is to take Jung’s advice and begin the long, difficult task of examining the endless, dark depths of our psyche.

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” – Carl Jung

Great piece, Uncola. Personally I’m impressed you hung in there with this guy as long as you did.

I had a long conversation with a young woman last week. She’s an extremely bright, attractive, and technically competent person who is trying to save all her and her families old home videos to digital media.

She was quite loquacious, and as we talked I learned rather a bit about her, including the fact she’d graduated from a Jesuit university, and then spent a year abroad teaching English at a Jesuit-run school in Thailand. She said her only regret about the job was that she didn’t stay at least another year.

She also brushed very briefly across the topic of her boyfriend, in that she was so happy to talk to me because I was obviously (to her, this is her speaking) very smart, smarter than her even (!), and she loved words, she said, “I am a very wordy person” (verbatim), and she wished her boyfriend was more … communicative.

She’d asked him for a letter as a Christmas gift to her — and four months later, he still hadn’t written her one, but she still kept up hope that he would. She said he was a really sensitive guy, he kept everything inside, she wanted him to open up to her, reveal himself.

I asked who her favorite authors are, what were her favorite books.

She doesn’t really have any. She doesn’t remember any authors’ names, and the last book she read (she thinks) was some popular best seller, while on vacation a while back.

I mentioned some of the writers and poets whom I love. She’d never heard of Raymond Chandler. She had no clue that Rainer Maria Rilke was even a man, much less a poet.

She knew nothing of Marcus Aurelius, of G.K. Chesterton, of Thomas Merton, of C.S. Lewis. I said I found it fascinating that she’d graduated from a top-caliber Jesuit school, with an education that had the street value of almost a quarter of a million dollars, without even had a passing introduction to any of these writers. She bristled rather at this, and said, quote, “My intelligence has nothing to do with my education.”

She then told me, in detail, of how smart she was, how hard she worked, how she succeeded at everything she put her mind to, and how she never made mistakes — or, if she made a mistake, she was able to rectify it pretty much instantly.

I said that was very impressive. I asked her if her boyfriend ever made any mistakes, if he could talk about them with her.

At this point she told me she was busy with something work related, and had to go. She wished me a Happy Easter.

I don’t know her boyfriend’s name, but I’ll try to remember to say a prayer for him…

Your assessment of EC is dead on; nobody makes me laugh harder with his salty critiques and out-of-the-box one-liners. That take superior intellect, a wide and deep range of knowledge, clever creativity, and a “surprise attack” approach, usually from a flank I didn’t know I had exposed.

Don’t know why El Coyote would wear a Hurricane Nigger mask, but he wears it well.

But I also admire mygirl’s pluck. She doesn’t need anyone’s blessing to contribute her thoughts, and if you’ve allotted too much time reading the library shelf she filled with responses to this article, why are you wasting your time reading her comments?

“Less is more” can be a difficult lesson to learn, but more isn’t, by itself, a thumbs-down; just because one is a newbie.

Your verdict, “You’re losing brownie points” but, you “show promise”… doesn’t have a Goddamn thing to do with why we’re here.

TBP may well be the last bastion of free speech and yet you appear to be implying that response rights are limited to those who have shown deference, kowtowing to the knighted cadre of old-time TBP’ers?

mygirl is entitled, with or without your blessing, to post however much she likes. So far, I’ve enjoyed her comment tremendously, especially when she twists somebody’s panties into a knot. It’s what we do, really, to earn our “street cred”

mygirl has been getting a ton of upthumps and I’ve no doubt that only her perspicuity has stopped her from dipping her middle finger in ghost chili salsa and tickling your winker.

Here’s a couple tips, from a 2 year monkey who has been welcomed, but certainly not with kid glove treatment. I’ve had my chops busted on numerous occasions. EC and Llpoh have excellent BS detectors.
RiNS, too. Tough love, and all that malarkey.

In the Search field, find “10 Rules for Newbies” as authored by Stucky. It’s about 1 or 2 years old, but it offers some good guidelines.
Any post from the past also usually contains great commentary from former and current regulars, with longstanding members sometimes known as Big Dog Regyoolahs.
I’d list them, but that would suggest rankings, and anyone left off a list might get the sadz, possibly feeling left out. (sarc)

See, too, Admin’s “What TBP Means To Me” and the commentary there.

Respect w/ commentary toward BDRs, without sucking up.
-Bring your A-game, but with a thick skin. Little tolerance here for idiots.
Trolls and snowflakes get hammered, mercilessly. They then slink away.
-Avoid personal, ad hominem attacks.
-Likewise, use caution when tempted to spout self perceived wisdom.
-Apologize, if need be.
-Humor, compliments, playful insults add spice to the fare.
-Substantiate claims or facts with sources, instead of relying on hearsay.

Most important: Send Admin a donation periodically. The blog needs support from ALL participants, since the Ad revenue dried up.
It’s not Politically Correct, and doesn’t censor anybody for anything, and that freedom requires funding to keep it running. Various payment options.
Every little bit helps. Suggested: $50, $100, more or less; as often as possible.

The only ones who get bounced are arrogant assholes who try repeatedly to promote their own website with constant links to alternative blogs.

Cheers.

Maggie, your great sin is that you are boring. Your characters, as you have called them, do not add anything to the conversation. You and your characters clog up the conversation making it difficult to come to a consensus. Of course, that could be your intention. Maybe you provide the exact same function as that asshole on Zero Hedge who floods the comment section of every post with fishing links. Hell, you could be that asshole. How could we tell? You, just as he does, change your name with almost every post. You appear to sit up all night waiting to make a pity rejoinder. When nobody bites on your blather you spend line after line responding to the other voices that you hear in your head.

So when you are trolling on Zero Hedge you are trying to get people to click on your links. When you are trolling on TBP, you are attempting to clog up the conversation so no progress can be made. You are the constantly yapping dog that runs around the house shitting on the carpet. All noise and fury and bad smells contributing nothing. You are the reason that Zero Hedge went from open comments to comments behind a click. I don’t really care about reading the comments on ZH, but I do want to read the comments here on TBP. You and your menagerie make that almost impossible.

I realize that you might not even be one person, there could be a room full of you. You and your buddies could be in India. You could be Estonia or England. You could be pretty much anywhere and none of us would ever be able to tell. But I don’t think that is the case. I think that you are a lone, cuck, SJW in your mothers basement fighting the good fight. I think that your babbling is crafted carefully to blunt the growing mass of people who have been red pilled. By and large, it doesn’t work but one could argue that people have given up on TBP because they couldn’t tolerate your incessant drivel. Once they have given up they no longer engage in the conversation. Once their voice has been silenced your work has born fruit.

That’s what I think. Of course, you could be living in Oklahoma, but my money is on Valencia where the SJWs live in droves. I wouldn’t be surprised if you lived in Beverly Hills, but I am pretty sure that you don’t live in East LA. After that, I might even say San Francisco and that you work for Zuckerberg. That would actually make more sense than your endless tales of bunnies and wounds and AWACS.

I knew if I picked at you long enough you would do more than just trip up. Now it is almost impossible for anyone to claim that you are a real person. It is impossible for Stucky to claim that you are a woman. Still, as you obviously have no intention of stopping I would like to know which name you would prefer to be called in the future. Liberal men are the most contemptable of all. Estrogen where testosterone should be. Groupthink out of control. Political correctness, virtue signaling, and that subtle, crusty racism that libtards want you to think is altruism but it is hatred and bigotry and a world view that screams “I’m better than all y’all”. Get off the soy, pull your head out of your ass and muster the courage to be a man. Its so much easier for one to hide behind the folds of their skirt, but at what cost?

It appears that you can’t remember most of them either and you can’t keep the story-line straight between them. Occasionally you even forget what gender your creation is supposed to be. I understand your problem. Now that you are into hundreds of alternate personalities there is no way to keep them straight. Might I offer the suggestion of posting a list of them on the wall above your desk. I realize that it might be hard to get the tape to stick to the rough field stone, but I am sure that a boy with your intellect can find a way. Then as you drift from name to name you can keep them straight. Just a thought. Just trying to help you out.

So Maggie, if you had to pick one name, which one would it be. I am not saying that you have to pick one name. It’s free country and you are free to lie as much as you want. You are free to rant and rage. But it is you yourself, in your own comments who have admitted to being El Coyote. You won’t yet admit to being mygirl but if I pushed hard enough on you that would most surely tumble out too. Clearly, this is all very important to you as you have descended into vulgarity and name calling when backed into a corner. Perhaps you should take this as a sign that this is not the profession for you. Your temperament might be more suited to something less stressful. Something like raising bunnies.

Great observations, Bob. You nailed my acquaintance when you said this:

Political correctness, virtue signaling, and that subtle, crusty racism that libtards want you to think is altruism but it is hatred and bigotry and a world view that screams “I’m better than all y’all”.

This guy plays in bands and is genuinely friends with black musicians. Because of that, Trump is a racist. Like other libtards, he thinks the rainbow coalition can establish utopia on earth because people are basically good. Like him. He truly believes he’s a good guy. In fact, he knows he’s better than flag-wearing neanderthals and Russian oligarchs.

Why? Because advertising works; especially when people want to believe what they are being sold. And even when they don’t, people love to own after they’ve bought.

Reminds me of what Al Pacino said when he once played the devil:

Ah, The Uncola is strong in this one.

Finally finished reading through the comments.
This thread went in about every direction it could.
Just as it should be.

I get along, in the real world, with just about everyone. I’ll talk about anything, with anybody, anywhere. I have learned to have discernment about such. There’s a time and place for everything.

Unlike you, Unc, (seriously, tho; more power to you) I never get past the first few seconds of recognizing terminal dissonance before I shut that direction down. We talk about something else, or the convo is over. I try to do so politely, but the very fact that I refuse to engage pisses some people off no end, but so what. I have no obligation to listen to their spiel. And I certainly have no interest in talking to a deaf wall.
As always, excellent article.

TS says:

I have no obligation to listen to their spiel. And I certainly have no interest in talking to a deaf wall.

Since he has expressed his disdain for conspiracy theories, I would think that would carry over to alternative media outlets by default. So, with that in mind, I thought about sending him the following two articles as linked from their original sites:

1.) Matt Taibbi’s recent “The Press Will Learn Nothing From the Russiagate Fiasco” because it’s Rolling Stone and he’s a later-model flower child and beatnik musician. How could he argue with Rolling Stone?

2.) and also PCR’s “The Three Purposes of Russiagate” while informing him that “Dr. Roberts” was Reagan’s asst secretary of Treasury years ago.

Would it bring about any change in his worldview? I’m skeptical and, honestly, I’m still not sure I care to bother. He seems pretty fragile currently and I don’t know him well enough.

Maybe later after we establish more of a rapport?

What’s funny is how he’s now on the side of the establishment. I suppose that’s the angle I would take should the opportunity present at some later date.

On the one hand, timing is key. On the other, it’s getting pretty darn late and he may not be worth the drama.

Thanks for your comment

Uncola says:

…and I don’t know him well enough.
Maybe later after we establish more of a rapport?

Therein lies the rub. The relationship practically always has to reach a certain level of mutual respect and shared good will – rapport, as you say – before there can be any hope of open consideration. In our present state, that is becoming more and more difficult and, as you also stated, sometimes we have to consider where our efforts are to be expended. Sometimes we have to have a triage mentality. There’s no sense reaching so far into a vortex for someone fighting our rescue efforts that we join them, and lose all interest in any rescue attempts. There are always others more willing to at least hear you out with an open mind.

Ding fucking ding dong bell. And you know what’s in the well.

I have a full unopened box of those silver sponges. I carried it with me to the VA appointment and asked the damn doctor to put it and the other items mailed to me back into inventory.

Still sealed in post office box packages.

They can’t take them back. Against regulation. The country is doomed when the US government sends me 800 dollars retail in medical supplies and can’t take them back.

So, the doctor told me to put it into my own first aid kit or give it to someone who can use it.

I sent the remainder of an almost full box of them to New Hampshire, but there’s something going on with the mail.

I’ll mail the next box to LGR… he got his box and all was well.

I put insurance on them and have the receipts but I sure hate to drive all the way to Marble Hill to talk to Tim the Mailman Tanner down there. Although when I walk in that post office with some of the stuff I’ve been known to mail? He grins and just starts looking for packing material.

Most people seem to like me. Hmmmm.

And… I really do wear my old silk scarves and pashminas to the barnyard and beyond. I’ve decided to be “that weird old lady with the scarves” to the locals.

Dad was the “weird old guy in the overalls who wrote for the paper.” Sometimes the WHOLE paper.

@ TS – I sent him the articles/links. He said Taibbi is an “opportunist out to make a buck” and PCR’s article is “flat out lies” and that Mueller’s report “clearly lays out ten instances where Trump obstructed justice and only was not charged because Mueller concluded Justice Department policy would not allow him to charge.”

He, furthermore, said PCR is “just a hack for the pro Trumpers” and that I should “read the Mueller report before putting out blatantly false information“.

No shit. So I, in response, asked him these questions:

“Can there be obstruction without a crime?

How did Mueller’s Special Counsel investigation begin when there was no crime”?

And then added this which was, basically, cut & pasted from my last article:

COULD it be because FBI asset Stefan Halper and Australian diplomat Alexander Downer entrapped former Trump aid George Papadopoulos in a London Bar? And that sting, many now are claiming, was a set-up by former CIA Director John Brennan, that resulted in the Obama administration surveillance operation dubbed “Crossfire Hurricane”.

COULD it be also that the entire Russiagate investigation was an effort to cover-up those crimes?

How could Trump’s obstruct justice for firing former FBI Director James Comey when that came about as the result of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s recommendation; a recommendation that came about because Comey pretended to be attorney general when he pardoned Hillary Clinton. This is what Rosenstein said, not me. Here is Rosenstein’s actual letter to Trump to fire Comey.

Then, we now know Rosenstein signed off on at least one of the FISA warrants to spy on Trump’s campaign and hired Mueller on the basis of Comey’s illegally leaked “memos”.

Doesn’t that smack of a set up?

BUT, at the same time, the Russia investigation forced Trump’s National Security Advisor to step down and Attorney General Jeff Sessions to recuse himself from all things Russia.

Dude, that’s insane.

Another thing: Have you noticed how, after the collapse of the Mueller investigation, nobody in the mainstream media was angry at intelligence community “experts” like former CIA Director John Brennon or Obama’s former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and others?

After over two years of misdirection and outright lies, no one has been taken to the proverbial woodshed. No one in the media, and to a large extent Trump’s political opponents, are even angry for being led down the primrose path.

Could it be – BECAUSE, FROM THE VERY BEGINNING, THEY ALL KNEW IT WAS A LIE?

No response yet.

Rob, I appreciate the thought. You are, of course, free to think of this as you will. I would just point out that all of the people here at TBP have been constantly disappointed in their elected officials. You know the feeling, you have an assistant drama teacher and part time ski instructor running your country and now a gay loonie. We here have suffered through spooks from the CIA, retarded drug addicts, pedophiles, gay muslims, and now a reality show star and every damned time the excitement has been running high. If we could just get _____ elected then everything is going to be all right.

I am really wondering when we are going to be willing to evaluate our decision making paradigm. Clearly our ability to discern the reality of any given situation is seriously impaired. How can anyone expect to discern the most effective leader for their government if they can’t even see that they are being deceived on a daily basis. Most of us try to live our lives based on what we consider to be a bedrock of honesty. Obviously, not all of us have that same intention. If you won’t see the dishonesty in your associates, you will never be able to see the dishonesty in your leaders.

But how could that possibly matter? What could possibly go wrong?

@ HR,

I get your point and I appreciate your seriousness and you’re honesty. I do. In fact, your 2nd paragraph above speaks to what I’ve tried to do with my Uncola moniker as representative of my better self (even when I fall short).

At the same time, accountability around here is wielded like a weapon. In turn, this makes plausible deniability like a shield.

I doubt we can move the world with a blog, per se, but the ideas gleaned here can definitely be applied in three-dimensions; as demonstrated by my piece above. (or not)

Therefore, maybe it all distills down into a matter of perspectives and expectations. As mentioned previously, I see this place as sort of a digital airport bar where we can seriously test ideas and have some fun along the way. And, for me, this means ideas matter more than identities.

In most instances, there are grains of truth to be gleaned from even the silliest and most trivial of comments – with mocking and profanity as the icing on the cake; adding color and flavor, if you will.

Besides, who can be their best self every moment? On occasion, it’s good to blow off some steam, ya know?

That all said, however, I think it was Ayn Rand in one of her novels who said a frown was being touched by God (ironic on many levels, I know). It’s only when we see a problem, get serious, and get to work when the world is moved. But not on the internet? Or, at least, not all of the time?

It’s all good, bro

There is this little town in the hills out here (Potosi) which has more antique and junk stores than anything. It is very much a Norman Rockwell sort of town, even now.

In a five dollar box of old books, I got a big book of Norman Rockwell Sat Eve Post covers from 1928 through 1945. The covers from the war years tell an interesting story about wives and girlfriends whom were dreamt of from foxholes and ships’ bunks who went off to factories and became Rosie the Riveter.

It is an interesting point of view.

There was never really a Norman Rockwell America. But, sometimes, if you peer very closely at the remnants, there is a shadow.

So, how about we take a really big barge like my cousin pulls with a tugboat on the Mississippi and put it on the Potomac between Alexandria and DC proper.

Then, we take all those asinine CongressCritters (every last stinking ONE) and put them on that damn barge and tell them to KNOCK IT OFF.

Leave them floating there indefinitely and hire some news ones.

The new ones won’t be much better but they can look at that big barge of congressleeches flopping around on that barge fighting for scraps and THINK about what they are doing.

Contempt OF the people, Z?

Contempt FOR the people is more like it. And they need to realize we find them beyond contemptible.

It’s not inexplicable at all. But it is damn hard for most anyone, left or right, to accept the real reason:

There is no truth. It is all belief, and what one takes as evidence for belief.

To put a finer spin on it: There is no accessible truth. (It is rational to believe) there are are truths “out there”, that is, outside our minds … but we have no guaranteed access to them. Human perceptions and minds are imperfect. All of them. So relativism is king. Sorry, guys.

That concept is behind the scientific method and eternally-moving science. Ironically, too many IYI “scientists” do not grasp this human limitation, and scorn those who raise questions from outside (and often within) their credentialed fields.

Meanwhile, people with strong religious faith are often the most strident claimants to The Truth. Yet so few have ever walked a mile in an atheist’s shoes. Um, you do remember the definition of the word “faith”, don’t you?

Go figure.

So, we all continue with “we have the truth, while they have illusions”. The debates will never be resolved. They can only be defused.

That’s a lot like saying the ocean laps against the shoreline, there is no clear defined boundary, therefore there is no sea and no land.

It’s philosophical masturbation and it has served as the world’s greatest excuse to ignore reality in order to protect our conscience from feeling the sting that comes with drifting away from the Truth.

The problem is not with Truth or reality, but with the human inability to perceive all the possibilities due to our limited senses. It is best to continue the hard work of trying to find it rather than to throw up our hands and say there is no truth.

“The problem is not with Truth or reality, but with the human inability to perceive all the possibilities due to our limited senses.”

What do you mean by “possibilities [of reality?]”? Is it, “to perceive all the reality due to our limited senses”?

In past decades (in our own lives, at least), confidence in knowing reality was not a problem (even if it was just as false). All information formerly was organized and distributed through hierarchical systems, with all that entails. But now, information is not managed that way. As others have pointed out, we’re having out own “Gutenberg press moment”, which resulted in our own epistemological crisis. Add to that mix that it is recently feasible to fabricate ANY second-hand evidence (which is 99.99+% of what we take for evidence) to sufficient perfection to deceive.

“It is best to continue the hard work of trying to find it rather than to throw up our hands and say there is no truth.”

…but once we think we can possess truth — that is, think we know that we know it — is exactly where we (all humans) go off the rails.

“What do you mean by “possibilities [of reality?]”?”

One hundred and twenty-five years ago it was possible to see through flesh and look at human bones, but until we developed the X-Ray technology, that possibility was imperceptible to us. Today it is a reality.

That’s what I meant by ‘possibilities of reality’ .

I am often thinking fifty steps ahead of my writing ability, stick around, you’ll see.

“…but once we think we can possess truth — that is, think we know that we know it — is exactly where we (all humans) go off the rails.”

Not necessarily. That would of course depend on what people choose to do with that truth. Some things are absolutely neutral or in fact beneficial to us by knowing them to be true, like fire is hot. Those who go off the rails are predisposed to go off the rails and simply look for an excuse, true or false.

Disagree. There is scientific truth, when done by honest, curious men without ideology.
Otherwise, your skyscrapers would fall from the wind loads, your roof would collapse from the snow loads and bridges would just be impossible.
I doubt anyone ever counted the experiments on gravity, or the universal gas law, or a number of other principles that form the basis for physics, engineering, biology even. And mathematics – if there is such a thing as universal truth, mathematics (before you get out on the lunatic fringes like numerology, and the mental masturbation of advanced set theory and probabilistic heuristics) is as close as you can get.
I stack mathematics, real science and the scientific method against your relativism, for the win. And it IS accessible truth, to those who can generate the brainpower and discipline to learn them.
Your move. And understand, I cut no slack for “climate science” (which isn’t, at least at this point), psychology / psychiatry (can be useful, but still not science) or “socialist science” (perversion to please an ideology, no real basis or structure). If you can’t generate disprovable theories and either prove / disprove them with experiment, it’s not science.

“There is scientific truth, when done by honest, curious men without ideology. … I stack mathematics, real science and the scientific method against your relativism, for the win.”

Sure, we discover science works (for our needs and within our perceptions). But you acknowledge, don’t you, that its “truth” is only and always provisional? If and when someone comes along with a better idea, and once the proponents of existing theory die off, the new one takes its place. This happens time and time again. I remember reading about plate techtonics being regarded as “crazy” in a college textbook from the 1970s. Or go try some of the 18th century medicine used by kings and presidents, and get back to me.

Arrogance, whether in science or religion, has serious consequences. Currently, we have a new generation of The Best and Brightest that basically wants to take over the world, because they’re cocksure they know what they’re doing, and even if they gotta break a few eggs (nukes, climate maangement, MMT, nations, etc). They won’t even bother to tell you that they don’t need to pay attention to anyone else’s (i.e. your and my) “stupid” ideas.

Not exactly what I was getting at, but sort of ….
Scientific truth has the advantage that it ALLOWS for revision. Newton wasn’t wrong about physics; it works perfectly well for anything you and I can touch, taste, feel. Always has and always will.
IFF (mathematical, if and only if) Newton didn’t formulate the way Einstein did it was because he didn’t have access to electron microscopes, nuclear materials and equipment and digital computers. IFF (again) there is a basic truth beneath it all; the Unified Field theory, the transcendent mind beyond Buddhism, the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything, then science will be the likeliest way we find it. I see this (repeated revision in light of new evidence) as proof that the scientific method WORKS; we find the new principles, new evidence, the kinks and chinks in the existing theory where it breaks down at the peripheries of what we can know.
Newton is provisional? Find me a planet, boulder or ship that DOESN’T obey his three laws of motion. Electrons don’t, but have you ever seen an electron? Or a quasar?
We depend not just on discoveries of the past but of the formulations they inspired. Every trip you take uses the same formulations of Newton, Galileo and Archimedes that our grandfathers used. If this is “provisional”, then please tell me how you are using the word, I’m not following.

We had a quasar in our living room. You probably had a GE. While you may not have seen an electron, you have seen the effects of them in your old TV sets and your old computer monitor. All of that aside, you are both saying the same thing. You both realize that much of what we currently consider to be scientific truth, is actually mathematical approximation. Most of the scientific community think that they have solved a problem and found a truth as long as they can use their maffs to predict the result of the experiments that they themselves have devised to reveal the un-seeable.

Yes indeed. They can predict the results. But that does not mean that they actually know what it is that caused those results. That is where the evolution of science takes place. One thing for sure though, we can most certainly know that Maggie is EC and also mygirl.

As HF and J. the Wand. so competently described, relativism is a bankrupt philosophy. If all is relative, then you fall under the same standard and therefore should be ignored, because you have no true basis for cognitive assessment. If you are applying this to physical truth, slap a hand on a hot burner and then tell me the truth of whether it is hot or not. If it’s metaphysics, please describe how you can even be sure that your reasoning has any foundation to even exist.

“[R]elativism is a bankrupt philosophy”

On the contrary, it’s a necessary acknowledgment of the limitations of the human mind. Yes, you can and should be ready to question anything I, or anyone else, says … because no one (knows that they) know anything.

One can consistently reproduce evidence from the external world — i.e. the hot stove — without proving that one knows it sufficiently. How did hot coals walkers learn to control their bodies to avoid burns? How could Einstein’s counterintuitive theories have replaced Newton’s?

TS
TS
  Norm Corin
April 26, 2019 6:25 pm

There is actually a scientific explanation for being able to walk unharmed over hot coals. It has to do with conductivity, insulation, speed of travel and distance of travel. If those same walkers stand for a few seconds or fall into the coals, their ‘mind-over-matter’ must be pretty shaky because they will get- and some have gotten- burned severely.
It seems to me that you’re trying to conflate truth with knowledge. Just because someone is ignorant of something -e. g. plate techtonics – doesn’t automatically remove the truth of its existence. Or vice versa; just because someone believes something doesn’t automatically make it true. I can truly believe that I am a poached egg, but that is not true.
Also, you seem to suggest the concept that just because it is more difficult to find the truth of a matter, that that invalidates that truth. “Add to that mix that it is recently feasible to fabricate ANY second-hand evidence (which is 99.99+% of what we take for evidence) to sufficient perfection to deceive.” The difficulty of ascertaining has no bearing on whether a condition, reality or principle is true or not. Just because you are not able to witness something firsthand does not automatically remove its truth. I do agree that it is always wise to withhold acceptance until a preponderance of acceptable verification can be received.
Einstein’s theories did not supplant Newton’s. They expanded and explained a deeper understanding of those areas, and were built upon those theories. They did not replace them, they modified areas that were not observable in Newton’s time. As in all scientific matters, the envelope is constantly being pushed further out. It doesn’t change the truth that there is gravity and mass, whether we have a complete understanding of those or not.
The underlying truths and principles always remain the same, whether we recognize and/or accept them or not.
