In Lancaster, California, when the shuttle craft were maintained and serviced at Edwards AFB near there, a little bar called the Red Rope Bar was on the corner of 90th east and Avenue J in Lancaster, CA. The bar closed down for lack of business after they the shuttle flights ended.
But, back when EC and me were wearing USAF uniforms, it was a cozy little dive bar. Inside the decor included the obligatory framed photos of famous (or not) Air Force and NASA types. But, what was really spectacular about the place was the featured image of Marylin Monroe entertaining troops in Korea.
So, while there weren’t any Air Force red ropes dancing with their favored road guards there, it was a nice little club and it seems an appropriate memory to shared with you on a blue Tuesday.

Did you know Rip’s story was about the changes that came about after the American Revolution? Old Rip fell asleep before the revolution and woke up under a new regime. If time was circular and not flat, we would be approaching such an event by now.

Maggie- That is a great question, for if we did not have calendars, tv’s , cell phones etc. we would be clueless. Sort of like, how old would you be if you didn’t know your birthday/how old you are ?
My son introduced me to Mind Field, which on You Tube… at least for now it is. It is interesting.
Anyway, one of the comments in an episode mentioned that your mind is always in a young adult frame of mind… your “mindview” perspective is about 25 years old!

Just funin’ ya Mags, I thought it was Monday.
I’m actually making notes on the Un-vaxxed video. It’s worth my time to review it I think. I paid $5.95 to do so because I think it really is worth the effort.
Am a half-hour in and am not disappointed. It just answered a question I had for a long a time about Rupert Murdoch’s role in all of this.
See, back when I got out of the service and returned to college, I really thought people wrote up news articles for a newspaper which printed them.
So, I learned differently because that was the time Rupert Murdoch discovered an unmarketed niche in the media industry: Conservative Leaning News.
The revision of the FCC laws in 1996 happen to coincide with some other big media changes. A lot of the changes involved media ownership, i.e., just who could own what sort of media conglomerate. I remember one of my college professors (Ethics, in fact, waves at Dr. Peter Dade) bringing it up and suggesting Rupert Murdoch’s name is in the actual piece of legislation. I’ve not read all of it, but I don’t doubt it.
Swing your mind back to that time… Clinton was President and we had the upcoming election, which brought us the Contract with American. Who propelled and drove the Republican Revolution in 1994? Why, I believe it was the Christian Coalition and the Moral Majority, according to political analysts who suggested the Moral Majority could swing at least 10% of the vote in critical regions, which forced Congress to take notice and mind their manners. For a very short time.
Anyway, it was a time of great change for media corporations and was the beginning of the end of the Fourth Estate as being independent of politics and corporatism. They became salesmen instead of reporters.
I wonder what LLPOH could tell us about Murdoch?

Back when the Villaraigosa scandal was raging here in LA, a female reporter learned the hard way about reporting. Apparently she didn’t get the memo regarding the news cycle and she asked the mayor once more about his GF. A goon twice her size tackled her and slammed her into a wall or abutment, I forget, that ended the reporting on his affair.

You’re partially right. The real end came when big corporate entities began purchasing all the local news agencies and putting them on the reuters and AP wire.
All politics is local; All news is local.
If you can feed people the “news” that YOU think they should look at and worry about while you are poisoning their children’s minds, well, you pretty much can control what they know and what they think.

I retired in 2000 for about 3 years, I never knew what day it was. That whole experience sent me back to the office and now I haven’t had a vacation for 17 years. I can’t win.
I have a reminder on my phone to take the garbage can to the highway on Monday or I might forget, especially if I get on TBP and go down a few rabbit holes.
Me too! I have a special day on Thursdays – it’s the highlight of my week, when the garbage men come to call and I hang around, just for a chat, and they come in their Hazmat suits and take all my crap away – out of sight – out of view!

I really did think it was Tuesday. Perhaps it was the unexpected Monday holiday that threw me off or perhaps it was the visit by my son, but for the life of me, I thought it was Tuesday.
It is a marvelous situation to not have to watch or even keep a calendar or schedule. Light comes up, take care of animals and do chores and what you want to do. Dusk comes, lock the doors and pens and get ready to sleep.

Maggie- The Egyptians were using frequencies/vibrations/harmonics to heal people 2000 years ago. Vibration therapy is not new and very, very interesting….don’t you think? There are those who believe that properly (tuned) water can heal cancer.
I think there are a lot of things that can heal. There is a lot to the frequency/vibration therapy.
Remember those crazy belt vibrator things that were supposed to help vibrate fat off? I wish I had one of those just to put on my back for a half hour. Upside down on the inversion table. (That is awesome, by the way… it isn’t Dr.Ho’s, but a cheaper version. Heated vibrating pad and adjustable angles.)
