That’s written in cursive. Students today are no longer taught to read or write in cursive. They’ll miss out on reading a lot of history without a translation.
Just the past week or so, when seeing a commercial break during videos, I see ads for a reading device. It clamps to your glasses and reads aloud what you point to.
Soon, it won’t be just cursive that’s not taught to youngsters, reading itself will be superfluous. The children will not be taught to read at all. Rather like long division or square/cube roots are not taught but simply solved with a hand held calculator.
Decades ago I was looking forward to such a reading device. I thought it will be wonderful to be able to read ancient Greek, Hebrew, Sanskrit, Arabic and others.
Now I fear it will be a tool to keep the peasants illiterate and safe from troubling thoughts. Shortly, I’m sure, the device will infirm Big Comrade of all that you “read.”
