Shellenberger: Western Elites Are Putin’s ‘Useful Idiots’

Via ZeroHedge

“People think nothing could have been done to prevent Russia from invading Ukraine, but that’s absurd,” bravely writes outspoken realist Michael Shellenberger in a Twitter thread that is bound to get him accused of being ‘treasonous’ or promoting ‘Russian propaganda’, instead of merely opening the forum for discussion of other opinions than the one driven into the West’s citizens by an every-ready establishment media.

As Shellenberger points out (obviously to many), “if Putin thought the costs of invasion outweighed the benefits, he wouldn’t have done it. He’s a rational actor not a madman. And today it’s clear Putin calculated correctly.

Via Threadreaderapp.com,

After Russia invaded, a few people demanded that Europe stop buying its natural gas, but European utilities snatched up long-term Russian contracts…

…and the White House said, “Our sanctions are not designed to cause any disruption to the flow of energy from Russia to the world.”

People who believe that nothing could have been done to prevent Russia from invading Ukraine thus imply that Russia’s chokehold over European energy supplies was inevitable, but it wasn’t. Europe could have easily increased, rather than closed, nuclear plants and natural gas.

Britain could have increased fracking for nat gas but didn’t. Why?

Because Russia pumped $95M into anti-fracking advocacy.

Noted the head of NATO, Russia “engaged actively with environmental organisations… to maintain Europe’s dependence on Russian gas”

Europe could have kept operating and expanded its nuclear power plants but instead, under pressure from climate activists, including Greta Thunberg, shut them down…

Climate activists even forced nuclear-heavy France to throttle its nuclear plants so order to use more industrial wind energy. The result was significant outages over the last few weeks at a time when French nuclear plants were needed most.

Efforts to make Europe less energy independent, and thus more dependent on Russian gas imports, were led by powerful banking interests in coordination with climate activists and center-Left parties around the world.

Not satisfied with their successful efforts to make Europe dependent on Russia, global elites have sought to deny poor African nations abundant energy.

All of this happened in plain sight at Davos, the European Commission, and U.N. conferences

The ideological justification for energy scarcity long predates climate change. In the 1960s, radical Left activists abusing their authority as scientists claimed that the world was running out of energy, despite the fact that nuclear proved that energy supplies are infinite.

The reason pro-scarcity “greens” attacked nuclear was because it debunked the idea that we faced resource scarcity and environmental degradation from overpopulation.

Infinite nuclear energy meant infinite fertilizer, freshwater, and food.

Pro-energy scarcity greens hid their motivations.

When asked if he had been worried about nuclear accidents, a Sierra Club anti-nuclear activist said, “No, I really didn’t care because there are too many people anyway … I think that playing dirty if you have a noble end is fine”

Bankers & renewables companies promote energy scarcity. Three of the largest donors to climate causes are billionaire financial titans Michael Bloomberg, George Soros & Tom Steyer, all of whom have big investments in renewables and fossil fuels.

Shadow bank BlackRock has long promoted renewables. Its senior climate official @BrianDeeseNEC heads the White House National Economic Council

Biden’s “Build Back Better” talking points echoed BlackRock’s pitch for “climate resilient” infrastructure

Source: Forbes.com

Biden and Democrats would like to see the whole of the US follow the California model

California saw electricity prices rise 7x more than the rest of the US over the last decade, is experiencing blackouts, and intends to shut down its last nuclear plant

The goal of Western elites is energy scarcity

The cost of that scarcity is to empower tyrants like Putin who can invade nations like Ukraine with little cost

Western elites are thus Putin’s useful idiots

They are the ones now saying nothing could have prevented invasion

What the US, Canada, Europe, Japan, South Korea, Australia and other Western allies must do is obvious and urgent: we must massively expand nuclear energy and oil and gas production. This will lower energy prices and reduce exposure to Russian use of energy as a weapon of war.

The public needs to understand that Russia could not have taken Ukraine had the West expanded energy production rather than throttled it by closing nuclear plants and reducing oil and gas production.

Source Michael Shellenberger Substack

We need @JoeBiden @SpeakerPelosi @GOPLeader @SenSchumer @LeaderMcConnell take immediate bipartisan action to keep nuclear plants operating and expand oil & gas production for domestic use and export to our allies in Europe & Asia.

Apparently the western elites are going to stop buying Russian vodka. Of course, I’m wondering where I can get cheap Russian vodka.

You know, I have had alarm bells ringing in the back of my head ever since this Ukraine thing started, and I am beginning to understand why. Let’s see if my logic checks out:

CONVID is played out (for now). We The People started to crawl out from under our shells and noticed things were more expensive. We started to ask questions which TPTB had to work overtime to lie about, so the next phase of the global operation was put in motion, to distract us, to murder us some more under another staged “crisis.”

However, I also believe that the Canadian truckers threw a giant wrench in their plan, which they did not expect. They had to postpone their Ukraine operation to deal with it; remember, our warmongers had already said they were sure Russia was going to attack over a week ago. That is why Castreau and co. had to go into hiding, until his betters could figure out how best to proceed. Once they did, they overplayed their hand, and showed everyone how scared and desperate they really are, that if the People realized all they have to do is reject their demands it’s all over for them.

So they sent in the shock troops to seize the day, and then the Ukraine op began. I furthermore believe that had Hitlary won we would have had all this happen about four years ago, based on the evidence, and that Trump caused them to put the kibosh on this plan: they did not foresee him winning. It wreaked havoc. Therefore they had to ensure that this time, there was no losing, so they overthrew our rightful elections and installed their regime in a bloodless coup.

Having given all this consideration, I say this Ukraine deal is another planned operation, and that Putin is playing his role. It is no secret that Russia has desperately wanted to be recognized by its peers for years, and its leadership has questionable ties to the WEF and its selected few. I get the strong feeling this is how they plan on forwarding their depopulation agenda, plus to continue to make us poorer, confused, and more fearful. I see this as another step in their Communist NWO; Russia and China are both willing participants. Russia never lost Communism, it just went underground until all the other Communists could consolidate control in their respective countries. It’s taken over 50 years here, but I think we can all agree, we have been infiltrated, and these people have been waiting for the moment to strike.

This war did not just start; it is just reaching the actual violence phase. May God have mercy on us.

The peaceful protest in Canada ended when TPTB brought in thugs with clubs and guns, hauled folks to prison, and used banks to steal their money. People will not regain their God given Rights until they are willing to fight Tyrants fire with fire.

Your scenario makes as much sense as any. The powers that want to be plans may have been delayed by Trump. The Canadian Freedom may have been another wrench. These couple of years have brought me back to God and I hope it isn’t too late. He is laughing at tbtwtb. His plan rules, not theirs.

Vlad has been pouring $millions$ into the climate change/green energy campaign in western Europe for years. A visionary. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if Greta was one of his foreign agents. When Germany started dismantling it’s nuclear power sites – if Vlad had a tail he would’ve wagged it. Now he’s got them by the short hairs. If they are stupid enough to expel Russia from SWIFT, Vlad will turn off the gas and oil spigots to the west and the Germans will be paying the equivalent of $15 a gallon for auto fuel and an average utility bill will be $1,200 a month. China has over a billion people. They would gladly take Vlad’s surplus natural gas.

Heard on the local news today that claimed there have been 3,500 Russian casualties in Ukraine. ha. It’s getting damn deep. Reminds me of the bullshit I listened to before Bush 2 invaded Iraq. Here we go again.

Russia, Belarus, and China produce over 25% of the World’s fertilizer and that has been cut off to the West (and 3rd World). Fifty percent (50%) of modern crops, esp corn and wheat, require fertilizer. All the Ranchers I know are cutting back their herds this year (pasture needs fertilizer). People can burn wood, coal, etc, use extra blankets, etc, and get by; but they can’t substitute something else for food and get by. There is a growing Drought out West. What if crops came in down 50% in 2022? How’s your garden growing?

Remember when the moronic asshole libs accused Trump of being xenophobic and a menace to world stability when he proposed economic sanctions against the Chi-Coms? Now these same dimwits are calling for Russia’s expulsion from SWIFT which will have a dramatic negative impact on our own homeland economy. ha. What a bunch of dumb asses. It could very likely lead to WW3 and turn the globe into a fiery ball as viewed from the space station in outer space. Vlad ain’t Saddam. He’s about 8 moves ahead of Brandon. And if backed against the wall, he’ll come out swinging. That’s when SHTF.
