USDA Reveals US Corn-Harvested Acres At 2008 Levels Amid Megadrought

Via ZeroHedge

Last year was a bad year for corn — the latest US Department of Agriculture (USDA) report shows drought conditions and extreme weather wreaked havoc on croplands.

USDA unexpectedly slashed its outlook for domestic corn production amid a severe drought across the western farm belt. Farmers in Nebraska, Kansas, and Texas were forced to abandon drought-plagued fields.

The agency estimated farmers harvested 79.2 million acres, a decline of 1.6 million acres versus the previous estimate — the smallest acres harvest since 2008.

The unexpected cut to US harvested corn acres means grain supplies are a lot tighter than realized. A report Thursday showed the corn area in the world’s largest producer is at the smallest since 2008 with crops failing in states such as Texas and Nebraska. That’s due to persistent drought conditions in the western part of the country that could also hit harvests for wheat plants that are currently dormant for the winter. — Bloomberg

The crop-failed lands reduced total harvest corn acreage to levels not seen since 2008.

Less acreage tightens supply and might continue to put a bid under corn prices.

Global food prices remain at crisis levels.

Here’s the current drought situation across the farm belt.

Corn production woes from the US don’t bode well in the fight to crush food inflation. It seems as if the prices for our food will remain high well through 2023.

Amidst a shortage of corn and water and we are still using massive amounts of both to make ethanol to burn in ICE’s.

The stupid, it runs deep in the District of Corruption.

And FJB increased ethanol from 10 to 15%, which doesn’t work with small engines. Luckily, we live in a coastal area, so almost every C-store has marine gasoline. And it’s $1.25/gal. more.

We have a few stations around here that sell non-ethanol gasoline and that is all I run in my small engines. It is about $.70 more, but I do not have problems with my engines like I did when running the 10% ethanol.

Here in Indiana it was dry in 2022. However elevators have ground piles everywhere, more than normal. The new varieties of Franken Korn seem to be able to produce well under less than desirable conditions. Likely the human body doesn’t need the Franken Korn with it’s genetic mutations. Better than bugs though I suppose. Anyone hungry for corncakes?

How convenient that the USDA (United States Destructive Agency) fails to recall and/or mention the 20% cut in nitrogen fertilizers that the government mandated … and how willingly the major railroads went along with it.

Just another form of censorship by BigBusiness — this time the censorship was of our food production …

Thanks Bidet … and the rest of the sociopaths that are part of not just our own government, but of all of those NGOs that are trying to establish their new technocratic state across the globe …

Three years ago it was massive flooding.
Next year, it will probably be massive flooding again.

If there were credibility to the CO2 fueled “Climate change” thing; then, in a particular spot (say, Nebraska) there would be flooding followed by more flooding in subsequent years till the place was a swamp, while in a completely separate area there would be drought followed by more drought till it was a desert (they actually used to talk about ‘desertification’ as a consequence of global warming).

Can anyone think of a reason for “climate change” to cause alternating massive flooding and massive drought in the same place?
