The first hep B vaccine must be administered within 24 hours of birth, normally at more like 12 hours. An American infant handed over to the health care system cannot live even his/her first day on earth without being contaminated.
I find this remarkable because in my whole long busy life I have never encountered a parent who was dealing with a child suffering from hepatitis B. Have you? Is this a disease so dangerous and rampant that it must be addressed at literally the exit from the womb?
When I had stint teaching special ed, I encountered students with severe autism. Simply put, these were beautiful children whose brains had been completely ruined. The crime is incomprehensible.
Fast forward about 35 years and try to picture a society with a large minority of autistic adults (although with the rising popularity of euthanasia, perhaps my concern is misplaced).
